Book 47: This book messed with my head. Thoughtfully plotted, memorable characters, and a creepy, looming forest? Yes, please.
Book 47: This book messed with my head. Thoughtfully plotted, memorable characters, and a creepy, looming forest? Yes, please.
Book 46: I have complicated feelings about Boyden due to the controversy surrounding his claims to be Indigenous, but his writing is superb.
Book 45: This was really slow paced for such a short book but that ending was... a lot. A whole lot. I‘m still reeling.
I went to Graceland this weekend! I had so much fun and bought a few books about Elvis... I might be a little obsessed now.
Book 44: This is a nasty little book about what happens when two psychos get married and use murder to keep that spark alive. I loved it.
Book 43: I don‘t know how I exactly feel about this book. The good parts were WOW and the slow parts made it feel like a 600 page book (in a bad way). I enjoyed the realistic horror mixed in with the supernatural horror.
Book 42: This had all of my favorite thriller plots- secluded/enclosed location, no one is who they appear to be, and a kidnapping. It‘s not a tidy book... be aware that there is gory and graphic descriptions.
#SaturdayReads I‘m only about 30 pages in but this is so good!
Book 41: I‘ve never read a synopsis and instantly figured out the entire book. That happened with this one. The plot was predictable, the characters were flat, and it was honestly just lazy writing.
Book 40: YA thrillers/mysteries usually don‘t do anything for me but I genuinely enjoyed this one!
1. Swimming and family barbecues!
2. Wild & Crooked, We Walked the Sky, When the Lights Went Out, Growing Things, Hello Girls.
3. Watermelon 🍉
4. 109... and all that Alabama humidity.

Book 39: Wow, just break my heart, why don‘t you?? This book deals with super heavy topics but my god, what a book this was.
Book 38: This was just as wonderful as I hoped it would be.
Book 37: I thought this one would be a page-turner, but it needed some heavy editing and an editor to tell her to stop slowing the book down with every detail of her day-to-day life. There were also parts that seemed heavily exaggerated in order to make her appear more badass... this just wasn‘t my cup of tea. But good for her for getting out of a cult that believes they are aliens from another planet. (The escape wasn‘t harrowing btw)
Book 36: While I‘m not the biggest fan of graphic novels, I‘ll never pass up the opportunity to read a book about Queer girls. This one was pretty delightful and that cover is 😍😍
Book 35: I have a feeling Adriana Mather is always going to just be a “meh” author for me. This one had interesting parts but the book as a whole was fairly boring and filled with too many info dumps.
Book 34: You know it‘s a good book when you finish the last line and the word “Damn” slips out of your mouth. I was on the fence about Joe Hill but this book made me a fan.
Book 32: I super enjoyed this book about a school of girls who have been quarantined after contracting something that slowly turns them into monsters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So. I‘ve been MIA. My dad is going through wound care at the moment to deal with an issue caused by diabetes, so I‘ve been taking care of him. Between that, work, and trying to get my ducks in a row to go back to school... I haven‘t been reading much! I‘m hoping to start a new book today, and really just wanted to wave and say “Hi, hello, I‘m still alive!”
Book 30: When I read this years ago, I loved it. Decided to reread and... y‘all, it hasn‘t aged well.
It‘s super gloomy today so here‘s a picture of the sunrise Thursday morning at work. Ignore my coworker‘s car 😂
Book 29: Wow. My first Gillian Flynn book and I‘m really underwhelmed. I guessed who the murderer was pretty early on which ruined the book, honestly. Also not into Flynn‘s treatment of women (either a whore or a villain) and how she plainly states that if someone doesn‘t leave their hometown, they‘re stupid?
Book 28: I‘ve never read a book where all the main characters were just genuinely awful people... but I strangely liked it. Moral of this story- don‘t have children because teenagers are awful and will ruin your life. (Joking... sort of)
Book 27: Wow. Absolutely blown away. I‘m starting to realize that books I thought I‘d never like... are usually books I end up adoring 🤔🤔🤔
Book 26: This was... a weird one. I figured out the plot twist pretty early on, and while it was enjoyable, the focus on her body and camming over, you know, her murderous tendencies was a little off-putting.
I went to the lake this weekend and came home to all the book mail! 😍
I am SO blown away by how thoughtful this package is! Thank you so much @aeeklund for putting together a truly curated swap for me! 😍😍😍 #madhatterteapartyswap
@AmyG I just got a text update from USPS and there‘s been a delay in delivering your package 😭 it says it is expected to arrive tomorrow. I‘m so sorry! #madhatterteapartyswap
Hello, Littens 👋🏼👋🏼 I‘ve been a little MIA the last few weeks. Work has been... stressful and I‘m dealing with a health crisis with my dad. I‘ve been receiving lots of #LitsyLove cards! Thank y‘all! And I‘m sending my #readersgonnaread and #madhatterteapartyswap packages out today!
There is a puppy on my desk!
Book 22: I mean... what a psychopath. I also have to be honest that this fear is one of the reasons I‘m not interested in having children.
A few of my preorders came in while I was incapacitated this week! Nothing perks this ol‘ gal up like some new books!
Book 21: I have a lot of mixed feelings on this one. I think it could have been a really fantastic book with a little more care and work but it was just “meh” for me as it was.
Starting this one today! I‘m a bundle of nerves waiting on oral surgery tomorrow so I‘m just trying to hydrate and relax today!
And I LOVE my new Nalgene bottle from REI. I‘m ready to go hiking.
1. Milk and local honey!
2. SyFy‘s Alice! (Andrew Lee Potts as Hatter 😍)
3. Tie between Alice and Cheshire Cat
4. Nope!
5. Sleepytime
6. Gardening!
@TheReadingMermaid #MadHatterTeaPartySwap
Got my first #LitsyLove card! Thank you @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ! I put a little card for you in the mail yesterday but I‘ll send a reply to this one sometime in the next week!
Book 20: This was such a letdown! I can‘t believe the author didn‘t explore/use the fact that her MC is a pathological liar AND a manipulator aside from like 2 scenes. It would have made this book so much better.
I forgot to post my book haul from Saturday! I did a little pick-me-up shopping before surgery and bought this stack of books (and a stack of blankets... and socks!)
Book 19: I‘ve always loved Jeff‘s books but this one made him an auto-buy author for me. I LOVED everything about this book.
Book 18: This doesn‘t even have its own listing... but it‘s a terrible book, so who cares?
I had my consult for my oral surgery today and while I‘m glad to know what‘s going to happen, I have to wait another week! Thursday‘s have played a weird role in this tooth saga- the wisdom tooth started hurting on a Thursday, first dental appointment was on a Thursday, consult on a Thursday, surgery on a Thursday 🤔🤔🤔
My first batch of cards (including birthday cards!!) went in the mail this morning. I‘m hoping to knock out the rest by Friday! #LitsyLove
I went to Target to pick up some notecards for #LitsyLove and came across some super pretty ones on clearance! I‘m working through the list and everyone will have a card in the mail by Friday!
1. Reading, embroidery, hiking, and playing mandolin!
2. Mystery and thrillers, speculative.
3. Four dogs: Gansey, Finley Nelson, Pigums, and Griz. Two cats: Ronan and Anne.
4. Yep!
5. Owls and... pens. I‘m a sucker for a good pen.
