As we all know I LOVE Les Miserables and when I found out there was a Les Mis retelling I was all over it! This book (only 579 print pages not the 1k plus of Les Mis) was smart and entertaining and enough elements of Les Mis to be familiar. This is a dystopian set read and is book 1 in what I understand to be a series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Les Mis in space. That‘s all you need to know. Fantastic series; easily my pick for ‘S‘.
My BOTM reads arrived today! Super excited for these selections!
I'm falling behind in #12booksof2021 so this is #may #June #July and #August. I read so many amazing books over the summer it was hard to narrow it down. #2021 #bestof2021
128 of 2021. A retelling of Les Mis set in space. I‘m not real familiar with Les Mis but I could recognize many elements from the story. I enjoyed this so I definitely will read the second book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is easily my favourite read this year. Les Mis in space, I have no idea why it took me so long to read this. I wanted to read it slowly to live in the beautiful world they created but I devoured this book. I loved the three main characters and the chapters POV flowed flawlessly. Will definitely be picking up the rest of this trilogy. #mustread #highlyrecommend #bestof2021
I am posting a book every day from my TBR collection. 📚
Day 83
#bookstoread #tbrpile #tbrmountain
First book of the month was part of last month's #TBRDeckofCards pull.
I love this story. Les Miserables is one of my favourites and even though this is high sci fi, I still fell deeply into this world and the characters in it.

Now I‘m trying it on audio too. Im pretty far into it and I‘m not sure if it is grabbing my attention. I‘m shockingly considering DNFing. Anyone read this one that could encourage me to keep going?
I‘m sorry I haven‘t posted in a while. This book took me forever to get through, but it was well worth it. I hadn‘t realized that I needed a Les Mis retelling in my life until I heard about this book. The elevator pitch is actually, “les mis in space,”! 🤯 Seriously, this book is really good and the first in a series, so there is more adventure to come.

Achievement unlocked!
Took to the treadmills today, had a litten listen and made it to Tookland. It's a small sort of accomplishment but I'm feeling good.

This is what my self care looks like today. The cookie is a snack from our Universal Yum box. This month was from the Netherlands.
Here it is!
I picked 4 cards for the month and grabbed these off my shelves. Since the K❤ is a #DealersChoice for Fantasy, I'm leaving that open for now and seeing where the wind takes me.
Since I have free spots on #BookspinBingo and tagged is part of a series, these can all be used for multiple challenges 😊

Sky without Stars by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell.
I set out to read this a while back, and for some reason fell into something else. However, it has been on my mind a while, so I am jumping back into this story.

Rereading so book 2 can make a bit of sense!
Action, adventure, romance, family ties. Loved it. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sky Without Stars was an energetic read, full of action from space ships, planets, a hidden library and a secret language. The storyline was easy to follow with each chapter dedicated to one character. Loved the feel good ending and can't wait to read Between Burning Worlds.

A great adaptation of Les Miserables, Sky Without Stars had vivid descriptions and storytelling, complex, interesting characters that I could connect to, and a creative premise and world that enhanced the story. And to top it all off, the story was in space! A fairly long read but definitely worth it, I can't wait to read the others in the series.
It's storming outside right now so it is the perfect time to cuddle up in my warm jammies and dig into this book. ⛈📖☕
I really enjoyed this retelling! I‘m not super familiar with Les Mis (aside from the musical) but I could see the retelling elements being weaves through the story without it feeling like an exact copy. The sci-fi elements were great and I can‘t wait to read the next installment when it comes out!
Les Miserables + The Lunar Chronicles totally works for this book. Following three teen characters through this dystopian story doesn‘t feel as long as it looks, and now I can‘t wait for the next book. #botm
Les Mis in space! The first in a YA series that I will definitely keep reading.
It's a dystopian world based just enough on history & the original story to feel familiar & true. Yet it wasn't boring if you are familiar w/the original. It was interesting learning how this society functioned, & at times stressful to watch it crumble. It did drag a few times, & some world-building details & story points could have been better explained. Overall though, I found that it went by very quickly & for the most part was fun to read.
Okay, here's my official check-in: 155/120 minutes of exercise, and 2.5/8 books read for week 2 of #BFCr2! Also including a pic of my latest favorite healthy recipe: gazpacho with avocado and shrimp.

WOW. Took me a bit over a week to read (slow reading week & it‘s a bit of a chunkster), but will def be one of my top picks of 2019. Really captures the essence of Hugo & the themes of “Les Miserables”, while creating a very in-depth yet easily digestible dystopian world. I simply cannot wait for the next of the series to come out. A must read for fans of “Les Miz” & “The Lunar Chronicles” ♥️
My Eclectic Readathon was not super productive, but I did finish Julius Caesar (which is a reread I'm doing for a work project), and I'm about 100 pages from the end of the tagged book. This week I also got in about 2.5 hours of working out for #BFCr2, so not bad!

The #EclecticReadathon is officially underway, and I have a lot to do! Make sure to check out @EclecticReaders over the next 24 hours to talk all things Readathon, and find out how to win prizes!
And may the odds be ever in your favor. 😉
My TBR for #24B4Monday. HIGHLY doubt I‘ll finish all of them, but still a good list to have. I‘m a bit over 50% through “Sky Without Stars” and have also started “A Thousand Ships”.
This Les Miserables retelling was a must read for me.
Overall 4.5 Stars based on the half star system.
Plot 4.5/5 yes I know what I said above but I didn't love the plot. Some of the plot was confusing to me. Perhaps because I missed something but I will continue the series. I enjoyed the plot mostly.
Characters 5/5 these characters were one if the saving graces of this novel for me.
Writing 5/5
The writing was not a let down for me.
One of the many brilliant references to Les Miserables in this book. This one more subtle, which makes me love it even more. “Even the Darkest Night will end and the sun will rise.”
There is so much brilliance and beauty in this retelling. It truly gets to the heart of Victor Hugo‘s work, & is even a bit pastiche, despite being a cyberpunk setting. Loving everything about this book so far.
Nurse: You've been here awhile. Can I ask what you're waiting for?
Me: Just some bloodwork. (Thinks: I brought a book, no worries!)
Nurse: Does she know you're here? I'll check.
Me: Okay. (But you really don't have to; I'm not done with my chapter yet!)
Nurse, returning: She'll be right with you in a moment.
Me: Thanks. (MUST READ FASTER!)
Perfect way to spend the first official night of Summer, (which also happens to be a Friday). ♥️♥️♥️
Les mis in space. I loved this one. I am making one of my book clubs read it so I can talk about it.
Whoa, i liked this WAY more than I thought I would!
The Les Mis references kept making me squeal and it really had a ton of influenced from The Lunar Chronicles and The Hunger Games! Like imagine you read Winter but from the POV of all the people stuck on Luna. I loved the ending too! TONS of twists and turns in the last half too. I was concerned with the size, that it would drag but it really didn't. Super excited for the sequel.
Bouncing back and forth between print and audio for this one. Also going slow to savour...
I‘m #currentlyreading this one and it is AMAZING! What is everyone else reading?

I have been branching out my usual genres this year. This is a fantastic Scifi story. I am only 17% done but wow do I love it. It is loosely inspired by Les Miserables. If you have ever read or seen Les Miserables, you will notice them. I don't want to spoil this book, but it is a delight.
I am SO blown away by how thoughtful this package is! Thank you so much @aeeklund for putting together a truly curated swap for me! 😍😍😍 #madhatterteapartyswap
