This was just okay for me. It had an interesting idea mixing different tropes together from horror, but it was honestly a bit silly most of the way through. I know the idea was probably to poke fun at the genre or even the fact that it is set in the present, but it was a little over the top in a lot of ways and drug on at points. Cute, but not really something I loved.

I enjoyed this one. It was cute and just a “fun” listen to while I did my exercises for PT ❤️🩷💜 #BookSpin

This is my #BookSpin Book. I was a babysitter back in “my time“ (wow that sounds like I am super aging myself! Anyway, the cover looked so good (I think that's why I stacked it to begin with). Anyway, I borrowed the #Audio version and have a hold on the #Digital version (so I could switch between the two).

Fun YA supernatural book.

This book borrowed shamelessly from "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" and was written a little "young" for me. It had some humorous parts, but overall, it struck me as unoriginal. I liked the dog.

I dug the 90‘s vibe, but overall it was just ok for me.

This was a fun read, and the cover is super cool.

I wasn‘t bowled over by the story and some of it felt quite childish, however I enjoyed it enough for a quick and easy read whilst caring for a picklebutt newborn 😍🖤

I loved this one! What can I say, I love some witchy shit 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is this a TV show or movie? It would be a great one. I may have to check out the rest of the series.

Reminded of Stranger Things & My Best Friend‘s Exorcism, I knew that Williams had written something special. Esme is an average teenager trying to earn money through a babysitting business established with her best friend. They have a monopoly on the best families so the new girl in town, Cassandra, knows to approach them. The thing is though, that since Esme turned 17 some weird things have been happening...and Cassandra might have some answers.

Just finished my re-read of this so now on to the sequel! I love the characters, the way the spells work and especially entertained by the “Laurie Strode” cameo.

I started and abandoned this book around this time last year too. I REALLY want to like this, but in the end I think what I‘m actually drawn to here is the cover art, and both the writing and the storyline fall flat.

Half new and half continuations from last week/month, this #weeklyforecast might be highly ambitious, but fingers crossed I get through a majority of these (especially since I ignored a few of them last week, lol).

My new thing is spending my Saturdays doing chores and cleaning while listening to an audiobook. No tv or internet until the house is clean and my book is finished. This is this weekends “read”.

Had to give this one a shot.

Got in a few chapters of this last night, and my honest opinion so far is meh 🤷🏽‍♀️ it's a disappointment because I had high hopes, but I might bail. Life's too short and there are too many good books on my tbr lol

Hoping this will be a fun camping read.

This YA book gripped me from the moment I saw the cover to reading the premise. That is about where the book peaked. Unfortunately, it was downhill after chapter 1. MEH

Weirdly went back and forth on this book and ultimately decided I enjoyed it. There were some quirky teen moments of cringe and also some cool fantasy occult moments. I ended up being super invested in the story.

Now that I‘ve made it to the end I can honestly say I don‘t hate this book. It started really slow and took me a while to finish. But I think that‘s because it‘s written for a younger audience. It is a perfect middle grade book. Very babysitters club meets Buffy the vampire slayer. All in all I may not read it again but I‘ll definitely recommend it to a few of my younger followers👍🏻 #bookspin

This book was so, so very close to being a Bail. Within the first 30 pages, I hated all the characters and really just wanted to throw the book away and never have to look at it again. The way that Williams writes high schoolers was just how old people thought high schoolers acted. The writing style was bad. If you use IDGAF, LOL, or IRL in your novel as things characters say or think, you‘re wrong. This book came out in 2019! I thought we were...

My first read of 2020 was... interesting. 👶

Basically, two teenage babysitters realize they have magical powers and are part of a long line of women who protect (basically babysit) the world. It's weird. 👶

It was between so-so and pick for me, but I'm giving it the higher rating because the concept was so strange, and it gave me a sort of 90s nostalgia (even though it's a modern book). I'll grab the sequel from the library when it releases. 👶

This book was hilarious with amazing characters, a supremely weird story line (and who doesn't love that) and a dog that farts--a lot.

The cover was bright & colorful—that‘s why I picked it up. I did not regret it but I wouldn‘t recommend. As someone who‘s well educated in the land of entertainment, I‘ve seen all what the book has to offer before. And I‘ve seen it done better. But to anyone who only reads books, or been out of entertainment circle long enough, this book is sure to WOW you. Be warned though that the climax falls flat and it‘s a vanilla swept-under-the-rug ending.

This book has some mixed reviews on Goodreads but I enjoyed it. Keep in mind it is a YA book and teens are the target audience. I liked the characters and their witchy going ons. Cute book.

Nothing like a book in bed/Sunday read. This was “leftover” from the #Scarathlon meaning I started it with the intent to finish in October but that didn‘t happen. Still, it was an okay read. Babysitters and witches and felt almost like Buffy fanfic. Not sure if I will pick up the sequel...but still. Oh an I get to use it for #bbrc #teenangst at least.

Catching up on reviews now that I am off work for the weekend!

This book suffers from the amazing cover/interesting premise that doesn‘t quite live up to expectations curse. If I hadn‘t been listening to this as an audiobook I probably wouldn‘t have finished it. With demons and spells, this definitely fits the #teamstoker theme. The climax also takes place on Halloween.

Pretty good for a debut novel. Was a fan of the babysitters club growing up, so add that with a mix of Buffy. And you have this book.

I hated Meddling Kids. Such a good cover with such a disappointing storyline. Kinda scared to start this now 😭

What a pretty cover. Just started this and it‘s an interesting concept.

Loved it. 😊 It‘s very much the first book in a series & probably will resonate most with people who read Babysitters Club books then watched Buffy (so maybe it‘s a YA book mostly likely to be a hit with readers who grew up in the 90‘s 🤔) but it‘s light, funny, fast paced & poignant all at the same time. The editing is tight & the writing is elegantly well tuned. Teenagers might miss a lot of the pop culture but I suspect they‘d enjoy it as is.

Might try and read two books at the same time.... not literally bit switch between them 😂🤔
