Stunning story and beautifully written.
It may look short (it is) but it will provide you with a much longer experience as you continue to reread and gift this book to others. This is my original copy (TC) and still around 2 years later this book crosses my mind as a bookseller as a recommendation for sooooo many people.

Bradleygirl I loved this so much, and I wasn't really expecting to, for whatever reason. Such a heart stirring gem. 5y
AJackets @Bradleygirl same here! And a lot of people who would love it almost won't take it out of my hand. Lit should always open us not close us! Have a good Sunday! 5y
megnews I read this in 2016 and just recommended it to a friend the other day. Looking forward to the movie adaptation if it‘s still released in December. 5y

This YA book gripped me from the moment I saw the cover to reading the premise. That is about where the book peaked. Unfortunately, it was downhill after chapter 1. MEH

Matt Haig is very in touch with himself as he travels through life. I greatly enjoyed Notes On A Nervous Planet and was pleased to find this book readily available. Matt's struggles and insights give me hope as a human. MUST READ.

Book 5: We Are Never Meeting In Real Life

First of all, big shout-out to Jennifer Hughes for Introducing me to the best humor/essay writer Samantha Irby.

Samantha Irby is essentially the in-your-face, modern, David Sedaris. Her humor and perspective blend very well to create the funniest essay writer around.

Book 4: The Stranger In The Woods (the extraordinary story of the last true Hermit)

This is a very intriguing Bio/Memoir about Christopher Knight. You may have never heard of him.
One day in '86 Christopher got out of his car and walked into the woods with nothing and decided to stay there for 27 years. Social Distance much?

This is a page turning bio/memoir to read right now if you are isolating.

tl;dr - Odd people are the most interesting.

SamAnne Just started today on audio while I was walking in the woods! I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought. 5y

Book 3: All The Birds In The Sky

This book would be on my recommend list. A perfect mix of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. This is a very accessable read. I do not typically just read sci-fi/fantasy. It reads like a dream.

What happens when a group of witches go to war with the world's largest tech company? The 2 people leading the charge are childhood lovers.

Charlie Jane Anders has won a Nebula, Hugo and most importantly a Lambda.

tl;dr - read it!

Book 2: Wayside School Beneath The Cloud Of Doom

This one is for all the strange kids! This was my favorite series in early elementary and now many years later there is a fourth book.

Louis Sachar was an influential author during my childhood he also wrote my favorite childhood book: HOLES

tl;dr - Read the first 3 (and give them to every awesomely odd kid), wait 20 years then check out the 4th one!

I will be spending the next few days organizing my book hoard and calling out important reads.

Book 1: If Cats Disappeared From The World

This would be a great read right now!

It really shows how Japanese Contemporary Fiction is currently pushing into surrealism. It's short read about what is really important during times like these.

tl;dr - It's a fun quick read that says a lot!

Really into this book so far. 🤷🔪

Actually it is kind of fantastic!

Last year I read mostly dark/horror fiction. I think this is the year for page turning thrillers...

Nothing new from Murakami.
This is a very long and somewhat repetitive read coming from him. However people who prefer his softer novels may really enjoy this. Still Murakami, Still Worth Reading.

I must start by saying: I listened to this book. I have heard while discussing this book that you need to look at the book to fully appreciate the graphics/graphs/idea.
I did not find this book interesting. I don't like "gotcha" styled non fiction. This whole book seems to be built around showing how wrong we are about our negative world view. Which is fine until you pull back and realize we are all wrong which is a negative world view again.
