Faster paced than the last couple I read for the #NancyDrewBR. This one was a fun one. Thanks for hosting @Librarybelle

I am torn between „Yay, finally the two mysteries in tge story actually do have something to do with each other and do not seem to be constructed to create more suspension.“ and „The used violence is completely unnecessary, unbelievable and over the top.“ I loved the storyline about the book collection though.
Finally, a Nancy Drew I remember from childhood! All the drama and mystery you'd expect, and Nancy even gets kidnapped and stuffed into a statue! I can truly do without the derogatory remarks about Bess's weight; in fact, this is a much better quote that characterizes her: “Will it be a nice straight mystery, or one that's going to scare the wits out of me?“ This one's a mixture of both, Bess. A fun read with the #NancyDrewBR and @Librarybelle
Definitely the best Nancy Drew we've had in a minute. This one had more of the regular level of ridiculousness 😂 Favorite parts included the police acting very clever because they determined that two masked men who attempted to break into the house at the same time were working together; the girls acting like sitting behind empty picture frames was a brilliant hiding spot; literally everyone not only knowing how to sail but being really great ⬇
I enjoyed the story and discussion with the #NancyDrewBR group. I'd read the 1937 edition and I love the cover. It did feel very dated, however. Another car runs into Nancy's, and it costs her only $5 to get the bumper repaired!

Next one of my Christmas reading, even though it doesn‘t have to do anything with Christmas. We are already ar number 14 of the Nancy Drew series - there a lot to go (for the next few years). 💪💪💪
It‘s time for our #NancyDrewBR discussion, #LittenDetectives ! I have 5 questions posted as spoilers that can be found on my feed, the book‘s feed, or by searching the group‘s hashtag.
Another book, another big difference between the editions! However, next month has only minor differences, so it should be easier for us to discuss! I‘ll post the official reminder for The Haunted Bridge tomorrow.
Thanks for reading with me!
5. This plays more into the 1970 edition, but the world of rare book collecting can be cutthroat and full of swindlers like Bassword.
Here is a 2016 article from LitHub that talks a bit about the rare book world and thievery: https://lithub.com/a-visit-to-the-shadowy-world-of-rare-book-theft/
#NancyDrewBR
4. Let's talk characters! We have the recurring characters appear in both editions. The 1970 edition Bess seemed really paranoid to me and always hungry and boy crazy (I'm getting a little tired of the constant comments about her eating).
Any thoughts on the characters this time, especially the good and bad characters introduced in the book?
How many who read the 1970 edition also wanted a fudge sundae after reading the book? 😂
#NancyDrewBR
3. There is a seaplane incident in the 1937 edition and a sailboat incident in the 1970 edition. Plus, Nancy finds herself in dangerous situations (Nancy stuck in the statue in the 1970 edition made me a little jittery!).
Let's think about the action events that took place in the book. What do you think? (My opinion, the prior two books were lackluster, but this was more plausible). #NancyDrewBR
2. Both editions introduce the terrier Togo to the story, though the 1970 briefly mentions the dog. For those who read the 1937 edition, did Togo add to the story?
The 1970 edition is the first time Nancy goes undercover with an alias...Debbie Lynbrook. For those who read the 1970 edition, what did you think of Nancy's undercover work? Did it work well with the plot? #NancyDrewBR
1. This month's book has two different versions again:
The original 1937 edition features a whispering statue that resembles Nancy and Nancy's investigation in locating a client's estranged husband.
The 1970 edition also has a whispering statue that looks like Nancy, but Nancy investigates a swindle taking place involving her client and rare books.
Which edition did you read? Overall thoughts on the book? #NancyDrewBR
Everything a fan wants in a Nancy Drew mystery.
This gem made me laugh:
“Oh, I wasn‘t going to trespass,” Nancy told her.
I think that might be the first time Nancy ever said that to George! lol
A whispering statue that looks like Nancy Drew. A collection of rare books that are involved in a swindle. Nancy again has two mysteries to solve, going undercover to collect the clues. This one is much better than the prior book in the series. And, like Bess, I really want a fudge sundae now.
Discussion tomorrow; questions will be posted mid- to late morning East Coast time. #NancyDrewBR

I read this earlier today for the Nancy Drew Buddy Read. I always like when Nancy‘s adventures involve a boat and this one had a boat plus a fake identity so that was fun. I enjoyed this one more than the last couple.

I finished book 14 for NancyDrewBR last week Sunday but didn‘t get a chance to post. In this one, Nancy & her posse of Bess & George are solving 2 mysteries, one where a client of Mr. Drew is concerned she is being swindled on the the books she is selling through a dealer & another mystery of a statue (it whispers & looks like Nancy!) stolen years before from a yacht club. So off to Waterford on the coast they go! ⬇️

Spending my #HyggeHour with Nancy Drew for December‘s #NancyDrewBR 🔎
I‘m having some apple spice tea & trying these Planters Apple Cider Donut Cashews that I bought this weekend. I find them good if a bit mild in🍎flavor. I think they would be great on a cheese or charcuterie board though.🧀😋
I‘m reluctant to face Monday & work tomorrow & a busy work week with classes & a business review.😣
We‘re two weeks away from our next #NancyDrewBR discussion, #LittenDetectives ! What secrets will Nancy discover from a statue that supposedly whispers?
Discussion on the 15th!

Great discussion for this month‘s book, #LittenDetectives ! It seems we‘re all in agreement about the over the top nature of the Ivory Charm.
December‘s book varies greatly between the versions, but both contain…wait for it…a whispering statue. Let‘s hope this one is a bit less convoluted.
Discussion on December 15th. All are welcome to join. Please comment is you wish to be added or removed from the tag list! #NancyDrewBR
Nancy tackles 2 mysteries at once-the theft of valuable rare books, and theft of a beautiful marble statue - a whispering statue. She faces danger at every turn and tries to camouflage herself with a black wig, and big glasses. Spooky.

This was so atmospheric and actually quite spooky.

Art thieves, swindlers, and hidden identities! Another classic Nancy Drew mystery.
For Nancy‘s newest case requires her to go undercover. I kinda like this particular option they came up with as her new identity…
In view of my new attempt to have my Litsy account better reflect the breadth of what I‘ve actually been reading, I‘m including a little blurb on my latest Nancy Drew. I can‘t believe I never got into these when I was younger. They‘re simplistic, but fun and light-hearted, and a great palate cleanser between other fare.
#7days7books
7 days of books that left a lasting impression and changed me.
Nancy Drew introduced me to the world of “chapter books” as a young girl. The idea of a book this long with very few or no pictures was daunting, but as soon as I started reading I was hooked. I borrowed so many of this series from my school library, starting with the tagged book. I have just a few in my home library. I‘d love to find some more!
Thanks for the tag!
Much better than the previous book in the series! Nancy and Co are up to their usual tricks in this one, plus disguises, sailing mishaps, and art forgeries.
Can Nancy solve both mysteries? Of course she can!
Number 14 for #nancydrewchallenge done!
The House was furnished with beautiful #tapestry drapes, oriental rugs, and fine furniture. On the walls of the room off the center hall were many valuable paintings. Graceful pieces of statuary on pedestals added to the artistic decor.
