The Reading List, a timely memoir that traces the path of a young female journalist thrust into a story involving a famous author and a convicted criminal, considers the symbiosis between journalists and their sources. This book is an astute reflection upon the often-unsatisfying quest for truth.

Ok, so I know what y'all are thinking... because I can like totally tap into your brilliant, beautiful minds and just KNOW these things!

You're thinking "Ana... it's almost midnight. What are you doing barely putting together a #BookSpin list!? And also... that's not 20 titles!"

But bear with me, dear Littens!

My goals are:
• finish reading the gosh darn books I'm #currentlyreading
• bring down current reads to maybe 3??

(Cont'd ⬇️)

Librariana 1 of 2: I've been reading Addie LaRue for way too long now and I get it... I don't want the story to be over and I'm scared that I'm gonna be a miserable, sobbing mess at the end of it, but you know what? July's gotta be it! Also... samesies for Dame Traveler. Gotta finish looking at all the pretty pictures. 3y
Librariana 2 of 2: Plan is these 6 are totally on the list in alpha order numerically. Then I'm allowing myself 4 more titles to have a complete list of 10 for July. But seriously... the rest is all gonna be freebies and I'm gonna try to hold myself to a 3 book maximum on current reads. No more of this 6 book nonsense! 3y
See All 7 Comments
Hooked_on_books I find if I get too many books going at once, and “too many” can vary as to what that actually means, it feels a little out of control, so I feel you! June worked well for me, carrying over my May bingo board—I‘m in the middle of the final book! So hopefully this approach will be just as successful for you! 3y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Sounds good to me!! 3y
Librariana @Hooked_on_books - you said it far better than my rambling musings could, Holly: I feel a little discombobulated and out of control. I've carried over cards in the past, but I do change a few of the titles and I think I need to follow your trend/idea and stick with a card until I'm done with it... no substituting titles. Just freebies! But I do need to make my current reads volume more manageable! 3y
Librariana @TheAromaofBooks - Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sarah! The motivation is appreciated 😊 3y

Last minute shenanigans with yours truly again, dear Littens 😊

As always, there are returning appearances by previous list occupants mixed in with a handful of brand new titles.

Hooray for a new month of reading!

@TheAromaofBooks

Hooked_on_books Ha ha, I just posted mine late yesterday! I just can‘t post it any sooner, since I don‘t know what I‘ll finish before the next number draw until shortly before. So, really, we‘re both just expedient. 😬 4y
Librariana @Hooked_on_books - Holly, I am right there with ya! I'm always hoping I'll squeeze in one more book before the beginning of the new month is upon us and guess what!? I did!! ? Finished "Pride and Premeditation" (which I mentioned on your post!) and also, after one of your excellent reviews, I updated my image - lol! 4y
Hooked_on_books Oh, I see it at #11! You‘re so funny. 😂 4y

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! 4y
Librariana @Hooked_on_books - But, Holly... I changed 2 more along with it 🤦‍♀️🙈 I know, I know! I'm a kooky, quirky lady 🤪😉 There are just so many books I want to be reading at the same time!! Why is that not a thing we can do!? Octopus arms! Simultaneous reading! 4y
Hooked_on_books Wouldn‘t that be great? I always get to 20 for my bingo board and say, wait, that‘s it? But what about (insert numerous book titles here)? We clearly understand each other! 4y

Here is my #BookSpin list for the month of April from which I'll be drawing titles for #BookSpinBingo 😊 Yay!!

Plenty are returning titles; many are brand new.

There may also be books that I'll continue to work on well into the next month at the pace I'm going 😉

In any case, I am excited about everything listed!

Here is my March #BookSpin list.

Many of the titles (the majority, in fact) are from last month with the exception of 4 new additions.

Aside from that, I've chosen one title in particular to take up multiple spots on my list in hopes that it'll be my spin selection and in order to really make it a reading priority next month.

silentrequiem 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Yeah! 4y

Ok, Littens... so let me explain 😁😊

This is my February #BookSpin list. I realize it has two months written up at the top, but anything in 💙 is a carryover from January; anything in ❤, belongs to February. Italicized titles in 💜 are #currentreads.

The four titles at the top are stand-alones because they'll take me longer than a month to complete.

Finally, 📕 indicates a Black author and 📚 marks a diverse/POC author.

I am jumping on the #makemereadit bandwagon!Sorry I didn‘t take better pictures they looked okay on my phone & I just noticed some are hard to read, so if you can‘t see what one is let me know. The ones I noticed are The Purple Rose is on the top towards the right next to Stalker. On the other side of Stalker is a book about the real Downton Abbey. The yellow one on the bottom is Hocus Pocus in Focus. I can‘t wait to see what you pick!

Down the TBR Hole #2 - find this tag on my blog.

It is a great way to clear your TBR List. The way it works is you select 5-10 books from your TBR list (from oldest to newest) and re-evaluate why they are there and decide to keep or remove.

Removing Digital Fortress, Steve Jobs, The Princess Diaries, All I want for Christmas and the Macedonian book. Find out why on my blog post.

Which ones would you keep/remove?

#downthetbrhole #litsy #tbr #ya

MaGoose Great idea. 6y
Crewgurl Good call in removing digital fortress!! It was terrible lol. I did really enjoy the princess diaries, but I read it many years ago in high school and I‘m not sure it would hold up now. 6y
diaryofdifference @Crewgurl That is exactly why I removed The Princess Diaries. As for Digital Fortress, I decided to put it on hold, until I read the Dan Brown books I already own. 6y

And I‘m SURE I will think of more that I forgot once I get going. But here‘s the list of series I‘ve started and am behind on, or that have books being released this year, or that I already own part of and want to start (or all of and want to read).

That‘s my goal! #SeriesRead

Gezemice Wow! That‘s a lot of series! 6y
Gezemice I am going to be reading Mistborn, Foundation, as well and start the Murderbot, plus continuing with Discworld. I have already read The Broken Earth trilogy, Maddadam, Kingskiller Chronicle, and The Bromeliad, all excellent. I might give a try to Red Rising as well. (edited) 6y
See All 17 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice Yes, you don‘t realize how many series you‘ve read or got going until you actually start to list them out. 6y
TheSpineView That is some list! I see some of the same series I am working on. Like you I will probably add to the list. I am hoping with this challenge to make a serious dent. We have this!🤞 6y
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Indeed! And I am not even a heavy series reader! (I don‘t really count Discworld as series reading... too many of them) (edited) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice Yep, and I added the rest of Bardugo‘s series, I really enjoyed the duology we read together before and have been meaning to read the rest. 6y
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Oh yeah, I am not planning on that at the moment because I am not in a YA mood but I am pretty sure it the YA mood will strike again and then I will be looking at it! I guess I sort of did a series catchup last year with The Witcher, and read The Broken Earth and The Bromeliad, but those were my only series. I should probably list out my unread sequels, too... 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I added Discworld, but only the ones the group is planning to read this year. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice It‘s addictive, you know how lists can be.😂 6y
Pamwurtzler @Riveted_Reader_Melissa have you tried using FictFact? You can choose book series to follow and they let you know when there‘s a new book. Unfortunately it doesn‘t work too well on my phone - mostly I catch up with it every once in a while on my laptop. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Pamwurtzler Yes, I use fictfact too, I wish it was more phone friendly too! I pretty much know what I‘m behind on, but I wanted to put them in my journal for the year...actually make it a goal for those series this year. Maybe concentrate on others another year. Plus the next time I‘m on the main computer, I really need to clean up my series on there and take out a bunch I‘m not following anymore. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I spy Patternmaster ... haven‘t forgotten we contemplated a Litsy-wide buddy read. Just not sure when! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage Yes! Maybe we‘ll be ready by summer sometime. That‘s my last series by Butler, I‘ll be a bit sad when I finish her back catalogue. 6y
Gezemice @BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘d be down for that! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice Great! That‘s 3 of us! 6y

I‘ve started making my (proposed) reading list for 2019... I‘m embarrassingly behind on several of my series, and I want to re-read some favorites & read some that I just haven‘t gotten around to yet. I‘m going to set a book goal, but there are some door stops in here, so I think I‘m going to set more of a page count goal this year. What do y‘all think?

queerbookreader I don't think I personally would do a page count goal, but maybe more of a completed series goal? Like maybe aim to complete x number of series this year? I want to do that with a couple big comic series and big mystery series! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yep, looks similar to my list! 6y
NovelGirl82 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I still need to add more that I haven‘t completed. It‘s just sad. I hope I can catch most of them up this year, though. I think I‘m mainly going to focus on that & review copies that are sent to me. I‘ve already suspended my BOTM subscription, for now. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @NovelGirl82 Yep, looking at your list I‘ve already thought of a few more I need to add. 6y

Down the TBR Hole #1 - find this tag on my blog.

It is a great way to clear your TBR List. This is my first batch. The way it works is you select 5-10 books from your TBR list (from oldest to newest) and re-evaluate why they are there and decide to keep or remove.

I have decided to remove three this time - Deception point, Safe Harbour and The Bourne Identity. (more details on why on my blog)

Which ones would you keep/remove?

Bookzombie @philawriter This is my reread for this month but I read it as an adult the first time. Did your class like it? 8y
philawriter @Bookzombie They really liked it!! These were college freshmen and they strongly responded to it in the context of the current political situation. It was awesome 👍 8y
philawriter LMK what you think! 😊 8y

I'm keeping #ThisMonthsTBR reasonable as I'm so bad at planning my reading. Hopefully I can get through these seven! #ReadJanuary

DaniRa Nice choices 👍🏼I am the same way so I have minimized the list and can add as my mood allows 😃 8y
vivastory "Sunlight Pilgrims" & "Stranger in a Strange Land" are both on my TBR 8y
Reviewsbylola Good luck! I hope to fit Swing Time in soon too. 8y
LindsayReads I loved Fagan's The Panopticon and have been jonesing to read The Sunlight Pilgrims! Can't wait to hear what you think! 8y
Moray_Reads @LindsayReads Panopticon is brilliant! I hope this one measures up 8y

My TBR list is currently 589 books. I started this list seven years ago. Perhaps it's time to prune. (She says as she adds more books.)

Do you update your #TBR? How do you keep it manageable?

sprainedbrain If by 'update' you mean constantly add to it in GR, yes I do. 😂 I really need to go through and clear out things that have been on there for years that I probably don't want really want to read... 1296 on my Goodreads to-read list. 😳 8y
Foxyfictionista I've got 373 on my goodreads list. I tend to export it to a spreadsheet and look up which books can be found in my various libraries and which books I have to buy. I try to only buy books on my tbr list and every Christmas/birthday I give people a list of books from my 'buy' list. I really want to get through mine. But then I found Litsy and there's the whole stack issue. *sigh* I'll never get through my list. 😓 8y
dariazeoli @sprainedbrain 1296?! Thank you, now I know my list is tiny 😂 8y
dariazeoli @Foxyfictionista I like the idea of a spreadsheet. Would probably be better than the "on Overdrive" and "owned Kindle-Kobo-nook" shelves I have. I hear you on Litsy. One month in and I'm never going to get my stacks or lists under control! 8y

Do you feel like your tbr is looking a bit threadbare? Probably not if Litsy has anything to do with it. Nevertheless, this is a great list of the new and notable of 2016 by Alex Preston. Many have been discussed a lot here but there are a few I hadn't come across before. You're welcome 😉 http://ow.ly/Kaya306N32W

charl08 I love the lists this time of year: both for agreeing with and when I disagree 8y
Moray_Reads @charl08 Oh yes, there's nothing like the book everyone else raves about but you hate. I usually come to the conclusion that I'm right and everyone else is crazy 😆 8y

Moray_Reads @BookishMarginalia Oh thanks, I didn't realise if forgotten the link! 8y
vivastory Thanks for the list. I'm stacking Naomi Alderman's "Power," Perry's "Essex Serpent" & Reve's "Evenings." 8y
Moray_Reads @vivastory I stacked the same, except I've read the Essex Serpent. It's a treat 8y
