Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters | Jane Austen, Ben H. Winters
post image

Now some books that are set in regency times, or are continuations, prequels, ‘what-ifs,‘ and fanfics for Sense and Sensibility.

I‘m definitely reading at least two of these... again, books above are in comments but please add others than fit and/or tell us what you plan to read!

sprainedbrain The Colonel‘s backstory! (edited) 5y
sprainedbrain This is about Mrs. Mary Dashwood and thankfully NOT Fanny. 😂 5y
sprainedbrain This is a big what if that Austen fans like to debate! 5y
sprainedbrain For this one, you may want to wait until you‘ve read Pride and Prejudice 🤔 5y
OriginalCyn620 This is the only retelling I own and can‘t wait to read it 5y
CrowCAH Oh I have the graphic novel! I‘d love to use this as an excuse to read it! 5y
OriginalCyn620 And now I want the graphic novel! 🙋🏻‍♀️ 5y
jenniferw88 1) is manga different to GN? 2) definitely interested in 5y
Bookwormjillk I bought Sea Monsters when we first started and I cannot wait to read it 5y
sprainedbrain @Clare-Dragonfly The Correction of Folly and True Love Comes to Delaford are both Elinor/Brandon books, near as I can tell! I will go looking for a queer retelling now. 😃 5y
mollyrotondo Ooo this Willoughby Returns sounds intriguing! 5y
Clare-Dragonfly Thanks! 😊 5y
Chrissyreadit I think I have Sea Monsters, but I have to look. I‘m most interested in Willoughbys return and Mrs Dashwood Returns 5y
Lesanne Out of these I‘d go for Willoughby Returns. 5y
wordslinger42 My mom ( @curiouserandcurioser ) and I had planned from the beginning on reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters 😅 5y
bio_chem06 I think I‘m going to try Sea Monsters, how hilarious! 5y
Sace I am drawn to the colonel's backstory! 5y
rabbitprincess I actually quite liked Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters! Maybe because I also really like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea 😂 But I also thought it did a better job blending the Austen and sea monsters than Pride and Prejudice and Zombies did blending Austen and zombies. Then again I don‘t like zombies, so 😬 5y
rabbitprincess Also pardon my gatecrashing 😂😂 I am not an official PemberLitten, but I have been really enjoying everyone‘s posts 😊 5y
sprainedbrain @rabbitprincess gatecrash all you want! I can also make you an official member pretty darn easily! 😉😂 5y
ferskner YES PLEASE 5y
sprainedbrain @ferskner lol! To ALL of them?? 5y
mom2bugnbee Because what I need is a longer TBR. 😂 😂 😂 5y
mom2bugnbee Found while searching! I really enjoyed Anna Elliott's "Georgiana Darcy's Diary". 5y
DebinHawaii I have had this on my Kindle for ages so may give it a go: 5y
quietjenn I'm curious about these that have Elinor and Brandon ending up together. And the ones featuring Margaret! 5y
Eyelit I‘ve had sea monsters on my kindle for such a long time that I feel I must read it sooner rather than later 😄 5y
batsy I enjoyed the Marvel graphic novel adaptation a lot 5y
JaclynW Thanks for the great list! I think the graphic novel and the sea monster ones look interesting. 5y
meghathecloud This list is surely tempting! I think I will go for Willoughby's Return. 5y
janeycanuck I think Willoughby‘s Return will be what I pick up, too! 5y
rubyslippersreads The only one I‘ve read is Willoughby‘s Return, but I really like the looks of the one about Margaret. 5y
sprainedbrain @rubyslippersreads ooooh what did you think of willoughby‘s return?? 5y
rubyslippersreads @sprainedbrain It‘s been a long time since I read it, but I don‘t remember being impressed. Of course, I‘m #teamcolbrandon all the way. 😊 5y
sprainedbrain @rubyslippersreads oh I can‘t stand Willoughby. I want to read it to see if Marianne makes the correct decision. 😂 5y
katy4peas I like mysteries so I‘m intrigued by @mom2bugnbee‘s suggestion of Margaret‘s Diary and Seamonsters 5y
katy4peas I also like the Enchanted Atlas one... 5y
katy4peas @jenniferw88 Manga is a specific style of Japanese art illustration and reads right to left. GN read from left to right and are either stand alone or shortened retellings of novels told they illustration and dialogue. They are similar and are often shelved next to each other but true-fans will tell you they are different rather than lump them together! 😉 I‘m not a huge fan as the plot is cut so much, but that‘s me! 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y
jenniferw88 @katy4peas thank you! 5y
