⭐️⭐️⭐️I love pirates!!! 🏴‍☠️ I needed to learn the fates of these men after devouring Black Sails. The audio was very entertaining although a bit cartoony for me in comparison but overall fun.

Before my 1st year as a teacher, I didn't have much $$ to buy classroom wall posters. My mom made me a bunch of posters by hand. This was my favorite and is my most cherished possession of hers. Drawn back in 1994. You can still see her pencil marks. 💛💛💛

I just had to get this set of vintage children‘s classics when I saw them. I had a set like these when I was a kid in the 90‘s but never knew what happened to them.

4.4⭐️ honestly, I don‘t know why am surprised I love this book. I absolutely love pirates, so it seems a bit obvious that this would be a book I enjoyed. Yet I was very surprised and pleasantly so.

I listened to the audio performance and though some of the action scenes were a little too chaotic for me and made me wish that it wasn‘t a performance style audio, I still overall enjoyed this version of the classic pirate story. It has been a long time since I last read it, so I liked having my memory refreshed and to see how this has influenced modern pirate stories. I am also counting it as my #Seychelles pick for #ReadAroundTheWorld!

#OnThisDay in 1881 Treasure Island began serialization in Young Folks children's magazine. It proved less-than-popular in serialized form, children complained at the slow pacing, but its following grew one published as a complete novel. In the ensuing century and (nearly) a half, it has become one of the most adapted works in the English language (once the Muppets have a version, you know it's a hit!). #HistoryGetsLIT

This was my #BookSpin for May, and another classic checked off the list!! Despite genuinely loving the Muppet version of this story, I had never read the original. It was a lot of fun, even if completely implausible, and I can see why it kept young lads in 1883 glued to the pages! Personally, I like the Muppets better - Stevenson's version is sadly lacking in catchy musical numbers. Still a fun read!!

Saw a couple of my Litsy friends talking about this one recently and prompted me to grab my own copy, never read this classic before 🏴‍☠️

I guess there's a reason why people are still reading this novel 140 years after it was written, it's a real treasure.

This is the first book I've read by fellow Scot, Robert Louis Stevenson and it won't be my last.

I'm already looking forward to checking out "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde"

In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to watching "Muppet Treasure Island" with the kids. ?

This was a fun adventure tale, with bloodthirsty pirates, buried treasure, and a heroic boy narrating most of it. Long John Silver is a kind of terrifying villain, charismatic and brutal by turns. Squire Trelawney is an idiot and responsible for hiring a crew of pirates who try to kill him and his compatriots. #roll100 #5 @PuddleJumper
