Another fun romp with the folks from St. Mary‘s! This time we travel to Whitechapel, look for Do-Dos and visit the court of Mary, Queen of Scotland. As usual there is drama, intrigue, tension and comedy.
My third and final finish for #MarvellousMarch
#SeriesLoves2023, St. Mary‘s Chronicles, Book 2 (one of my focus series!!!)
A bad guy is fiddling with the timeline, killing and destroying history. St Mary‘s to the rescue (after a raucous dodo hunt as a stress reliever and team building exercise). Our heroine, Maxwell, and team head to Scotland to ensure events happen so the Queen loses her head and find the bad guy. Is history set right? I‘m looking forward to book 3. Hilarious, dramatic, a little of every genre—history, sci fi, romance… such a rip-roaring good time ⬇️
The Great Dodo Hunt is hilarious, the main reason I love this series! “Short of pulling the trigger themselves, they couldn‘t have had less sense of self-preservation”

Next up, book 2! This will be my first time to get past book 1, even though I have almost the entire series!!
My book reading buddy isn‘t impressed.

Love the shout out to The Big Bang Theory 😄🎉👏🏻
There was a lot of rereads for me this month and I‘m not choosing those as favorites just to be fair!
Out of the new books I read, the tagged was my favorite read!
So I messed up my graphic and this is actually my #BookSpin - sounds about right for my month so far.
I‘m really loving this series! This is the second book in the St Mary chronicles. I love all the places in history they go. I already have the 3rd book, so I can‘t wait to pick it up. A plot line kind of confused me where I didn‘t understand exactly what was going on, but it kind of resolved itself.
#SeriesRead2022
Um is this a Big Bang Theory reference?
I‘m like 95% sure that was Leonard‘s last name.

Book 2 of St. Mary‘s Chronicles did not disappoint. No #bookspinbingo but I read #bookspin 5 (free spot tagged) and #doublespin 10 which was Macbeth (free spot)
These books are perfect when you need something fast paced, fun and not too serious. The characters are quirky and loveable, but I swear there was enough plot for 4 separate books here! I would have happily read an entire novel about the Jack the Ripper episode which took up all of 2 chapters...
We spent as much time outside as we could, but my house is suffering after two snow days at home... I cleaned up my reading corner, but the toddler mess will have to keep until tomorrow- I've got a book to read!
Well for a book two it wasn't that bad. I had a great time reading about Max and company on their madcap adventure through time. I was a little over the romantic angst but I love the world and the characters so it was still a fun read. I can see why everyone who talks about this is so fond of it.
These books are so fun! But really really long, it feels like the plot just goes on and on forever 😂
Still enjoyable though - already got the next in the series lined up!
4.1 🌟
Such a great book, it's a rarity I got to enjoy a scifi book without overfussing the world-building and magical/technology system. Super love the characters, go St. Mary!!! 💚💚

Forgot to post my #bookspin update last weekend. I love these books! There‘s just always so much going on. Great when you just need to turn off and enjoy some action! This is the second in the series. I think the order dictates that I read 2 short stories before the next book but I found the last short to actually be quite boring so considering jumping ahead. Anyone read Jodi Taylor?

Couldn‘t wait. Very good picks @TheAromaofBooks ! Super excited for this. Thanks!
#bookspin #doublespin
I actually liked this second book better than the first. Charming, hilarious and action packed are just a few of the ways to describe this book. It is an interesting format as each book is like a series of TV with multiple stories happening in each book. I‘m eager to read the third one now
The constant nemesis Ronan is back and that is after encountering Jack the Ripper, witnessing the assassination of Thomas Becket, Max and Leon being sent to a spa for the rich and famous and then having to travel into the future which is always problematic.
Not quite as irreverent as Jasper Fford but pretty damn close.
3.5/5 Stars.
Another entry for #20series20days 📚 The time traveling historians of St Mary‘s are accident prone disaster magnets who often let their curiosity overwrite common sense and are always to be found near the kettle. Madcap, funny, and a lot of fun to read!
@Andrew65
I‘m not actually going to get a bingo this month for #BookSpinBingo as the book I expected to get from the library hasn‘t come in yet. 😂
But at least I can knock one more book off the board.
I love this series so much!
You know you married the right man 31 years ago when he gives you the bundled set of one of your new favorite authors, whom by the way I blame on Litsy and #wintergames. I started reading her short Christmas stories for #wintergames and fell in love with the series. It‘s like a hilarious version of historical fiction. I can‘t wait to dig in!!

12-16-19: My 104th finished book of 2019! I finished this one outside of the library 😂 #asymphonyofechoes #joditaylor #chroniclesofstmarys 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣0️⃣4️⃣
I found some pacing & timing problems in this second installment of “The Chronicles of St. Mary‘s,” which is especially unfortunate for a book that revolves around time travel. But, I‘m willing to forgive anything because the cast of characters is so, utterly charming. The audio narration‘s fab (it‘s the only reason I‘m hanging on to my Audible subscription), & the historical personages visited, fascinating: Jack the Ripper, & Mary Queen of Scots!
“She was my rock, confidant, co-conspirator, drinking companion, and life-saver. Whatever was required. The word “friend” didn‘t begin to cover it.”
#femalefriendship
(bridesmaids shown; all friends for 15+ years)
I‘m really enjoying these! They‘re easy to get into and quite fast paced. Nothing too serious, just a bit of fun. The narrator is also fantastic.
Finishing off the second St. Mary's book on audio while working on my series tracker in my #Bujo
Better than the first one with a more coherent plot and funnier
Most gods seem to like their followers to suffer. Very few religious ceremonies take place on a tropical beach with the congregation benefiting from warm breezes and a continual supply of Long Island Tea.

Markham led the way on foot, banging a drum for reasons known only to himself and shouting, "Make way, make way," in English, French, Latin, and some incomprehensible dialect he said was Geordie.
As a geordie am I allowed to be offended? Lol
The banter in this series is excellent. 😁
If you like fast paced novels with humor, history, time travel and romance then you will love The St Mary‘s Chronicles.

Well played, Jodi Taylor. 👏
‘A Symphony of Echoes‘ is the second book in The Chronicles of St. Mary‘s, a series about a team of time traveling historians. In this adventure, they actually interact with history instead of just observing, but at the risk of creating a paradox (If you alter history, you alter the present/future.)
Not the best writing (Transitional bridges do not seem to be the author‘s forte) BUT individual scene work is very good and it‘s all FUN 🙂
Ah, I see what you‘ve done there 😆
Books about time traveling historians are fast becoming my favorite genre. I'm definitely hooked on this series and I also enjoy Connie Willis.
I enjoyed this 2nd installment in the St. Mary‘s series, but not as much as the first. The first was a little all over the place, but pulled it together. This was just all over the place. Several digressions were fun but didn‘t seem to fit, so I found myself not paying attention to other digressions that turned out to be important. And I‘m still bothered by a scene with Bothwell & Mary Stuart...😕 But overall it was fun & I‘ll read the next one!
“It‘s no good moaning about what evil bastards they were. Men like that would see that as a compliment. Far better to regard them as an insignificant pimple on the arse of your success, don‘t you think?”
A pause.
“The arse of success?”
I shrugged. “It‘s been a long day. Best I could come up with, but you know what I mean.”
😂😂🤣
I adore these books. I think I'm about to go through them a second time. #istillneedescape #octoberreads #timetravel
The second book in this series and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite series. I adore the characters and the historical events are always interesting. I wish I would have remembered to put book 3 on my #tbrbingo. #timetravel
My favorite blanket to curl up with and my #currentread. #bookandblanket #autumnreads
I'm a little late posting this. I always feel like my monthly tbr are just the books I started the previous month and didn't finish. Last month I started a lot of books and barely finished any so my current goal is to finish these 3 before I start any others. This will mess up my #tbrbingo but oh well. #mostanticipated #septembermostanticipated #autumnreads #fallintobooks
Madcap time travel adventures. The main character continues to annoy me, but the series is a lot of fun. This one started out strong, with an interesting (and creepy!) take on Jack the Ripper, but it tapered off after that. Still, worth a read.
Yeah! Book #2 came today for The Chronicles of St. Mary's! Sorry DODO. Even though I'm really starting to get into you, this series has my full attention right now. Don't worry, I will get back to you soon. #timetravel
"IT, that goes for you too. Any difficulties, tell me, so I can stare at you, baffled and confused." ????
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A fun, humorous, fast paced romp of a read. Time travel never encountered the likes of Maxwell nor had Jack the Ripper. Highly recommend this series for an escapist read that will not fail to entertain!
