A darker, fantastical twist on the original. One of the best retellings I‘ve read! Content warning for physical and sexual abuse and violence.

Perfect timing for the autumn, with Halloween just around the corner 💀🖤🎃
I‘m trying to work out what my 2020 priority books will be. 🤔
Horror as a genre is not something I‘ve read very often, so I think I may have expected too much from this in the “terrifying” category. However, it was a good read. I liked the diary entry format and enjoyed the descriptions of the artic (a place that fascinates me). And Isaak ❤️🐶
I‘m absolutely loving this series. This is the second book, and I‘m flying through it. Paige is a great protagonist and I love the world in which she lives. I can‘t wait to finish work so I can keep reading.
I‘m really enjoying these! They‘re easy to get into and quite fast paced. Nothing too serious, just a bit of fun. The narrator is also fantastic.
Another great read from V.E. Schwab. Turning the idea of superhero‘s and villains on its head, this story is gripping from the get go. Powers are gained in an interesting way, making this a unique story. I loved the characters too!
Not sure how I feel about this. It has the potential to be really good, but the love story was just unrealistic. One minute she‘s terrified and the next she‘s all passion and love. I‘m not overly invested in the characters either. 🤷♀️
A great ending to the series. This is a fantastic book, based on the Ottoman Empire and one woman‘s fight to right the wrongs done to her and her country. Lada is based on Vlad (the Impaler) and will stop at nothing despite the emotional and literal destruction it causes. Great historical fiction!
This started out a little bit predictable, but about mid-way through, got really interesting. A few twists and turns, to keep you going.
I can‘t believe it‘s taken me so long to read this! It was great! Very clever, great world building and interesting characters!
I really enjoyed this. It was funny, had adventure, sad bits, happy bits. A quick fun read (although I listened to it on audiobook). Maxwell is recruited to St Mary‘s, and there her life truly begins. Just don‘t think too hard about the plot line.
This was my first audiobook. I don‘t feel I got the full impact of the story as I struggle with taking in information whilst listening. But it was a great idea. I wasn‘t overly bothered about listening to the next one, until the epilogue. I can‘t help but think I would have enjoyed it more if I‘d read it.

Not sure how I feel about this. I really enjoyed reading it, but once I finished, it didn‘t feel overly different to a lot of the other YA fantasy out there. The MC was a little annoying, but I hope that it forms part of her development.
I joined audible. I don‘t normally get on with audiobooks but my friend suggested I try this. It‘s great! I have to really concentrate to take it all in, but a new way of reading has just opened up for me! 😁
What a wonderful selection of poetry. The perfect combination of fairytales and feminism, magical and enlightening. I particularly like the way Gill gives back stories to villains and doesn‘t apologise for Tinker-bell‘s anger. This is going to be my new comfort re-read!
I really enjoyed this. It felt a bit slow to start, but I enjoyed the non-chronological timeline. It‘s a historical, magical whirlwind, filled with great characters, wonderful imagery and a fantastical plot. Well worth a read.
“Out there may be monsters, my dear.
But in you still lives the dragon
You should always believe in.”
So excited to read this! Feels like I‘ve waited years for it. So long that I can‘t actually remember what happens in the second book. Perhaps a re-read is in order 🤔
The beginning of this felt very young and I wasn‘t sure I was going to enjoy it, but I quickly got wrapped up in the story and it‘s characters. Not usually a fan of the intrigues of running a court, I was surprised that this interested me all the way through and even surprised me once of twice. We‘ll worth a read.

I enjoyed this. It did feel a bit slow in places, but in a way that this is the first in a great world building series way. I like that the MC isn‘t always truthful and as the book develops we get a feel of the great things to come.
This has broken me out of my (what feels like a year long) reading slump. I can‘t wait to find out what happens!

Yesterday I found a 1933 edition of Tales of Mystery and Imagination in a charity shop. I paid Qa.99 for it and it‘s in really good condition. Love a bargain oldie!
My friend drew the design on my travel mug - Halloween appropriate.
Also, I‘m really struggling to read at the moment. I‘m only 300 pages in and it feels like it‘s taken forever!
The finale is finally here and it‘s a whopping 980 pages, 121 chapters long! 😱 I still need to read Tower of Dawn first though!
Some good advice! ❤️📚
I‘ve really struggled to get into any book I‘ve started over the last few weeks. Hopefully being back with Jamie and Claire will help. Perfect title too!
I just have to share my amazing wedding dress with you all. My friend made it for me as a wedding present. It has the first pages of my favourite books (you can see some on the back, but also has some at the front). I felt amazing wearing it, it was such a personal dress to me. ❤️📚
Not book related - but I get married this weekend and have just started making the centre pieces. I‘m so proud of this. I love autumn! 🧡🍂🍁🎃🤵👰
Very excited about all of these. But which one do I start with? 🤔
This is a hilarious and heartbreaking eye opener to the life of an NHS doctor and everyone should read it -particularly if you‘ve ever used the NHS.
An ok sequel. Nothing extraordinary sadly. Although the ending was good. It could have gone one of two ways, the other would have been disappointing. There is a ‘non-binary‘ character which was nice to see. Although they‘re not strictly human sooo...

1: I had a dress fitting so here‘s a sneak peak at my book themed wedding dress - this is the sash and has the first pages from my favourite books ❤️

3: laziness?
4: QI and The Last Kingdom
5: Tagged - I‘ve heard really good things about it!
I really, REALLY wish I had read this before I watched the film. It‘s witty, interesting and not at all gushy. Some of the language can be difficult to get, I had to read some sentences twice to get their full meaning, but it‘s in no way difficult to read considering it‘s 200 years old! I really enjoyed it. ❤️
Mumma, stop reading and take me for a walkies!
All I‘ve wanted to do this week is read. And then driving to deliver training on Wednesday, when I really didn‘t want to, even the motorway signs were telling me to go home and read. 😂
I was driving so pic is from google,
I watched the Kira Knightley film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and to my surprise, I really enjoyed it. Having never read it, I had to go and buy the book, but decided to treat myself to this beautiful copy!
What a great read! Schwab creates real characters, diverse worlds and a plot so interesting you can‘t put the book down. Perfectly timed revelations and musical writing!
There‘s so much to say about this book. Definitely a culturally enlightening read, filled with strong female characters that learn to not be ashamed and manage to find a freedom for themselves. While I didn‘t love it (like so many people seem to) it was a refreshing change of pace. Well worth a read.
After the destruction of my Red Rising book from rattling around my bag, I decided to invest in a book sleeve. It‘s so cute!
I just had to share my literary themed hen-do with you all. I‘m getting married in 5 weeks and my wonderful bridesmaids created a unique day full of literature. We had a literary themed quiz, treasure hunt and taste test, followed by an outside production of Little Women. Plus a surprise book gift for all attendees. @EmmaPlum ❤️❤️
