I got my #AuldLangSpine list from @Ellie_H and she obviously has GREAT taste! Holly Black 😍🖤😍
I‘ve put The Dark Fable and Primer on hold. Looking forward to them and the rest of the list! Except I‘ve already read the first four… but… maybe 2025 is a year for a Holly Black reread?
A human child raised in Faerie must forge her own path among the cruel and fantastic court of the Fae in this popular young adult series-starter, with urban fantasy elements that reminded me of Sunshine by Robin McKinley and Fae elements that reminded me of the Emily Wilde series by Heather Fawcett. A slow pace had me antsy at times, but the world-building paid off in an excellent plot twist, and I‘m heading into the second book now!

Finished this series, have enjoyed it. I know there is 2 more books as a sequel but havent decided if I'm reading them next.
My friend just gave me my copy of the Cruel Prince that lended to her. I‘m so excited to read this again!! 😆
It‘s almost shipping!! Can‘t wait to play the game. Most likely going to be my new all time favorite!!🤩 (sorry about the image, I couldn‘t get it all in there😂)
The story-line was quite tragic and emotionally harrowing - so much cruelty. The characters were annoying and morally grey.
It was good, but it wasn't astonishing or mind-blowing.
Books/book series I think should be made into movies.
Dark Fable-Kathrine Harbour
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle-Stuart Turton
The Cruel Prince series-Holly Black
Shakespeare Secret-Elise Broagh
Wicked-Gregory Maguire(Movie coming out November 22, 2024)!!
The Cruel Prince was such an amazing series, I bragged to all of my friends about how great and exhilarating the book was.

I fix him with a look. “ I can be charming. I charmed you, didn‘t I?” He rolls his eyes. “Do not expect others to share my depraved tastes.”
Cardan is a prince and no one has stood up to him, only Jude. She has a strong personality and won‘t let him do his way.
It turns out that having kissed someone, the possibility of kissing hangs over everything, no matter how terrible an idea it was the first time. The memory of his mouth on mine shimmers in the air between us.
I‘m half way through this prodigious series Cruel Prince and I love it! 👑 I really like the MFC Jude.♥️

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. 5,8/10 rating. First half of the book was 3 stars. I just couldn't really connect with the characters or the plot. This just wasn't for me
I just finished this book and omg the plot, the angst everything about this book is so beautiful 😭
If you love Jude and Cardan like I do, then run don‘t walk to the Enemies & Lovers Kickstarter campaign: http://kck.st/4dp5o9J
Holly Black has created a strategy card game featuring her characters, and the concept art is gorgeous! They are foiled, and there are gold or green metallic edge options. The project funded in 30 minutes, but many options are still available!
I am no way paid or endorsed to say this… just a big fan!
Jude along with her sisters are taken from the mortal world and raised in Faerie, exposed to magic and mystical creatures. After a coronation gone wrong Jude is forced to work with her arch nemesis Cardan to save the world she‘s grown to love. Not a spectacular read. Didn‘t knock the socks off but kept my attention. Not sure I‘ll continue with the series but might get a wild hair for it.
I don‘t get the hype; almost end at 40%. Political intrigue did strike good around 65%. This is a story of betrayal and survival in a world where a human is seen as beneath dirt. Jude is tough with her sass and desire to do something to make her powerful enough to not be bullied. I do not like Carden. Just because a bully is justified in their why, doesn‘t mean he‘s forgiven. He seems too far into manipulation- like Jude became in her own rite.
I need to stop looking on Vinted 😅🤣
Book 1 of 3...my addiction to series continues with another fantasy. Jude, a human, forced to live in the land of Fairie, has to come to terms with who she is and what she'll have to do to survive. This is a good fantasy story without the use of foul language or explicit sex.
My new embosser, from Callie.com, just arrived today.

The flowering branches have sprouted thorns so thickly that petals are barely visible.
“This is what you wanted, isn‘t it?” he asks. “What you sacrificed everything for. Go on. It‘s all yours.”

I enjoyed the whimsical aspects of this story. Especially the setting. Lots of court intrigue.
And it begins.....

Gonna enjoy my evening with an almond nutmeg candle, autumn ambiance on my TV, and a chestnut praline iced latte to keep me cozy while I read this book.
I knew this series didn‘t really have likeable characters in it going in, so I was surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. The plot was quite propulsive and I was definitely kept intrigued by how things would turn out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not my favourite type of book but it was interesting seeing what was going to happen next.
POV: me halfway through The Cruel Prince waiting for the enemies to become lovers 🤣😂😭!!! #CruelPrince
Jude, a human, stuck in the fairy world where her step father lives strives to make a name for herself.
Holly Black really likes her plot twist. That‘s all I‘m going to say.
First book of the “Folk of the air” series. 3⭐️ out of 5
I really liked the enemies to lovers trope in this book. In addition we love a strong, independent, female MC, who‘s underestimated by everyone just to prove that they were wrong. It took me a while to get used to Faerie, though. The book was good, but for me it didn‘t live up to the Bookstagram hype and I liked the plot twists better in the other books.

Folk of the Air book 1 for #serieslove2023
I‘ve been wanting to read this series for a while & it did not disappoint. The FMC is awesome, worldbuilding was great, motivations mostly make sense. It was really delightful. Light on romance but I didn‘t miss it & I‘m looking forward to seeing where this series leads.
Def recommended if you like YA fantasy with more action than intimacy.
Quick easy read. I'm not sure how I feel about the plot of the story yet, but I am hoping the other 2 books of the series are more exciting. I listened to the audiobook and read some on a kindle... each had some additional creative touches I hadnt experienced before (music on the audible & adorable woodland doodles on the chapter markers in the book)
I love fantasy. Especially dark, mischievous characters. The folk of the air series has been my favorite so far. I really love the faeries and wish at times that I could've been one. 🤷🏻 #SundayFunday 🎶 better than a Monday 🎶 @ozma.of.oz
My reread of The Cruel Prince is going well! I‘m also hoping that since I am off for 2 weeks recovering from a mild surgery, I *should* be able to finish the series as well 📚
Another day, another #AuldLangSpine book checked off the list. This was more fantasy than I‘m used to, which me go into it with zero expectations. A lot more plot twists and turns than I could‘ve imagined. Thanks @BarkingMadRead for another good one!
I feel like I‘m doing a real throw back; but I‘m going to finish these series! I‘m in the middle of The Cruel Prince so I can FINALLY finish this trilogy, then I‘m restarting the Throne of Glass series for the third time😅 I have no idea how I‘ve avoided spoilers for both series for so long, but for once my ignorance has been bliss📖🙌🏼
My friend recommended this to me and I was skeptical. At first, I didn‘t like it, but after the first couple of chapters, I was hooked. The way Jude was written as the “independent girl-boss” was amazingly well-done and all the other characters were also well-written. I loved Cardan‘s complex personality. I loved Jude. I loved their bantering. I loved the intensity and plot-twists of the story. Amazing read and I can‘t wait for the 2nd book.
The Folk of the Air series is my new obsession. First book I've read by Holly Black, and certainly not the last! I am going to devour these books. Elfhame is just the type of world I want to get lost in, with its fairy magic and mystical creatures. I will forever stand by my position that hobs DO NOT fly, but the detail quickly became irrelevant due to all the dramatic treachery that ensued.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"For fun." ?
I love you, Jude. ❤️
I'm also loving this series so much I'm most likely going to create these characters in my Sims4 save. Yes, I have a specific neighborhood I use in the game just to house characters from books I read. I am that cool. ?
This minor detail is going to make my nerd brain explode. 🤯
I just read Legend and Lattes featuring a hob, and now I feel like I'm reading about a completely different creature. Hobs fly??? Since when?
I haven't found any online lore stating this. (Yes, I searched about 20 minutes lol) Maybe it's just a creative decision on the authors part. Either way, it's bothering me. Other than that, I'm enjoying this so far!😅
