A supernatural spin on the classic

This book was fun though it started getting predictable. If every case have a supernatural element then I'm gonna get the outcome pretty easily. Some of the humour was a bit forced.

Dispite the negatives, I enjoyed the friendship between holmes and Watson. I also enjoyed seeing how the sherlock holmes cases which are very familiar too me, would be twisted. I wish more had been done to show Warlocks power

Hello

I've been gone from litsy for ages because if depression mainly. I havent been reading. But I'm trying to get back on the reading horse and this is one of the ones I finished recently

I found it very funny but it was not as side splitting as the reviews made me think it would be. Still, you cant blame the book for the over hype. It was still very fun and quick to read

Lovely little romance book set by the sea in Devon. I didn't find it as tropey as some romances can be

A dark comedy western about two brother killers around the gold rush.

I enjoyed the book and I loved Eli and I grew to love charlie even if he's not so likeable at first.

I think the setting was my favourite part. I love that era of America

Aims42 Have this on my TBR shelf, thanks for your review! 6y
toric @Aims42 I really recommend it. It's not my usual type of reading but I still feel it's impacted me 6y
Aims42 @toric that‘s great! I read ‘French Exit‘ and enjoyed it, then I saw this book at a book sale and snapped it up. I don‘t think I‘ve ever read a western, so I‘ll be expanding my horizons 👍🏻 6y

This was about a group of peoples journey out of the city after an EMP stops all electronics

There was some plot holes and some unbelievable bits, for example all cars seemed to work fine except for the radio even though they were brand new cars full of electronics

Although it had some flaws it was a fun read so I'd recommend it to anyone who likes survival stories

5 out of 5

I loved this book. It had such a lovely charm and I loved the characters of Mori and Thaniel

Everything was described so perfectly without being too much and the story when along at a perfect pace, very exciting but still easy to follow

I found Grace's character to be selfish and horrid but the ending felt right

I enjoyed this book but I didn't love it. Unfortunately, real life doesn't always make the best storyteller and I found the stories of holiday horror started with the severity ramped all the way up to 11 and they couldn't get better/worse from there so some of the tales felt as if you'd heard it before

There was plenty of funny stories but there was plenty of things being put in bottoms too

Disappointing. It had some funny bits but not enough to make it worth slogging through all the other crap. The humour was just the same thing recycled on every page.

Definately didnt have the charm from the TV show or from Charlie Brookers shows

The style of this book was amazing. I love how Jon Ronson investigates and how he sees these fasinating subjects. The problem is i cant get away with the military language. I get confused and bored by all the ranks and fort wherevers

For me it picked up towards the end when he was discussing victims of CIA drugging people with LSD

Id recommend this book to anyone who loves fasinating true stories as long as they dont hate military terminology

I warmed to Adrian and the book progressed. I was proud of him for looking after Burt (the old man he was paired with for a school project) throughtout the book. The person I felt for the most was Adrians dad. The poor mans wife leaves him and then he loses his job while caring for a rather demanding son

You pick different sides when you re-read this as an adult

blurb

I last read this book when I was in school and I dont remember Adrian being this annoying.

Its odd looking at the collapse of his parents marriage now as a married woman with my own child compared to when I was a child myself

Markham led the way on foot, banging a drum for reasons known only to himself and shouting, "Make way, make way," in English, French, Latin, and some incomprehensible dialect he said was Geordie.

As a geordie am I allowed to be offended? Lol

This book is a collection of news paper articles Bryson wrote for The Times about America and living there in 1997 and 1998

It was entertaining but it had dated quite badly. There was a lot of discussion about current affairs and i had no idea what he was referring to

I read this book purely because i see it everywhere. I didnt even know what genre it was. I think i lucked out cos it was lots of fun. Its about time travelling historians

There was some annoying tropey bits that ruined my immersion and the main character was an idiot to her boyfriend but these all seemed minor when the book was so fun overall

Photoed with tissues as I have a horrid cold 😔

I think this is the first book in years I've got from the library and actually finished

It was a very fun book but I wasnt expecting the short story format.

It started off exciting and I couldnt stop turning pages but then it started getting samey.

My favourite was the haunted house

I found an adorable little book shop today and i might have picked up a couple things

I started reading Crazy Rich Asians last night for a book of the month read for an online goodreads bookclub and I'm really enjoying it but I've read so much today I'm starting to feel a bit burnt out yet at the same time I want to read more. Plus all the food decriptions are making me very hungry

Psychsquirrel The trilogy is so good! I learned so much about their food and traditions at the same time I enjoyed the soap opera. The third one, Rich People Problems, was my favorite 🍲 🍝 5y

I was struggling to find this book in the UK but an american friend of mine super kindly sent over this as an early birthday present for me!

5 stars. I love all things survival so this was perfect for me. Brian's plane goes down in the middle of a forest next to a lake and he has nothing on him except a hatchet

The down side is that it is written for children so the language is very simple but the characters are suprising well put together

This was the book that made me realise that Neil Gaiman is one of my top favourite authors

An amazing fun look at life in a book shop. I loved it all. I loved Nicky and Mr Deacon the most

I'm lucky enough to be visiting The Bookshop early next year so ill get to see if its as I imagined

The biggest thing I took from this book is how much Amazon is killing the local bookshop. Did you know Amazon own Abebook? I didn't. I have now found my nearest independent shop (over an hours drive away) and I will only shop there now

Made me think about the horrors of war in a whole different way. I hadnt previously thought about how the average person suffered outside of Britian. I didnt know the channel islands were occupied and went through such hell
