#ReadAway2024 #MarvelousMarch #readathon

Read for #Naturalitsy here is my lady my book of March. I thought this look at the importance of water was interesting & engaging than I expected. It did get a bit dry (pun fully intended) at times but the blend of history, science & technology kept me reading. Everyone deserves access to clean water! 💧 ⬇️

Read with #SheSaid & I‘m thankful for the group & @Riveted_Reader_Melissa as I‘m sure I wouldn‘t have picked it up without the push. I was able to track a hard copy down & get it transferred to my local library. It‘s both an interesting & important look at being an activist. I learned a lot about Planned Parenthood as well as the author, the daughter of Former Texas Governor Ann Richards. Impactful & inspiring.🩷

TheBookHippie I enjoyed this book very much. 8mo

Read some wonderful books but by far the intense, heartbreaking, generational “survivor” story, The Postcard, is a stand out on its own- 5 ++++ Stars. The other 4 books are part of a series, or as in Murder in Westminster, the first in a planned for series.

Andrew65 Some great books here, well done 👏👏👏 8mo

My third & final book for #Roll100 #48 This one was on my #BOTM TBR stack so I‘m happy to have finally read it. I wasn‘t that sure what to expect as it‘s tagged horror/fantasy/mystery/thriller about an urban indigenous woman whose dreams are haunted by her dead mother & a monster. I found it more creepy & chaotic than scary & it was a bit all over the place at times, lots of family drama & secrets that ⬇️

DebinHawaii … slowly unfold. The MC is a Heavy Metal & Metallica fan & there is a tie in to that as well as Steven King & The Shining that I liked. I also liked the tribal folklore woven in. Not a favorite for the month/year but worth a read & I would read more from this author. TW for violence, gun violence, addiction, attempted suicide, domestic & sexual abuse, death of a parent, discrimination, etc. 8mo
5feet.of.fury I liked this one, it was creepy and cool 8mo

Finished this morning for #ChloeGongReadAlong & it‘s an enthusiastic pick! The author wrapped the duology of this spinoff of her These Violent Delights series satisfyingly. I‘m sad to leave the world/characters but holding out hope she does another spinoff as there‘s still characters with stories to tell.🤞🏼Mahalo @TheBookHippie for the always excellent research, hosting & intro to Gong!

Book 2 of The Naturals series was a fun ride with lots of twists. I‘m quickly becoming attached to Cassie & the 4 other teens on her FBI cold case team. In this book, the killer is looking like a copycat for Dean‘s father, a notorious serial killer & so of course, even though they are only supposed to work on cold cases, the group gets involved. Now on the (6 week) waiting list for book 3.

Read with #Pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent Overall, I enjoyed this modern Emma retelling. I went from the audiobook to print & then back-&-forth between the two. I wasn‘t a big fan of the female narrator‘s voice but it was easier to listen to it most days. I liked both Emma & Knightly‘s characters & that they each grew throughout the story. I‘m not sure the (quite) spicy scenes were needed ⬇️

DebinHawaii …at the end as they seemed a little out of place in this otherwise sweet romance, but maybe that‘s just me?! I look forward to the next in this “For the Love of Austen” series coming out in August. Thanks to for her usual great hosting! 💕 8mo

Andrew65 Brilliant 👏👏👏 8mo
StayCurious I agree with you that maybe the scenes could have been closed door. 7mo
DebinHawaii @StayCurious Yeah, I really don‘t mind a spicy scene but these just didn‘t quite fit with the overall book tone for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7mo

My #Roll100 #67, I actually finished it a few days ago but between being work busy & trying to figure what I think about it, I hadn‘t posted it yet. I‘m still unpacking my feelings about this one. It is beautifully written & I loved the natural elements, but I hadn‘t read any reviews before starting & it ended up being much heavier & darker than I thought & I don‘t think I was emotionally ready for it. ⬇️

DebinHawaii …There were a lot of triggers from domestic abuse to sexual assault & A LOT of animal death (which is something I struggle with reading about). I felt pretty wrecked after reading the second half especially. I also thought the beginning was stronger than the end. Still, all that aside it‘s a pick for being well researched & written & making me think & feel. 🩶🐺 8mo

Finished last night & read with #ChildrensClassicRead2024
I hadn‘t read (or been read to) Heidi since I was a small child or seen the movie in eons so it was fun to go back to the Alps with Heidi. She is adorable but I forgot how much of a little butt head Peter was! Lots of charm, sweet & fun. Who doesn‘t love an alpine field with flowers & goats?!? Just mean old Miss Rottenmeier I guess!!💛🐐🌱🐐🌼🏔️

Finished today for #Naturalitsy #LitSolace #SpringEquinox I‘ve been listening to it in my car mostly as I run errands & It‘s a pleasant listen (narrated by the author) & free on Audible but now, I might want a print copy as I feel I may have missed out on the illustrations. As someone who battles depression, I can relate to the author & how the beauty of nature can improve mood & mental outlook. Lovely.💚

Chrissyreadit 💛💛💛 8mo
PurpleyPumpkin I also embrace nature‘s healing power. Taking a walk outside is so therapeutic and relaxing. Thanks for mentioning that this is available on Audible. I‘ve added it to my library and will listen to it soon!🍃 8mo
