The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption | 
pickThere are sad parts thrown in as if it‘s from one dog‘s point of view, as well. Some of the work with the scared dogs reminded me of my volunteering with shy/scared cats, to be honest. The end of the book did a “where are they now?” for both the dogs and the people involved. Of course, “now” was around the time of publication over a decade ago. I realized that none of the dogs are probably living now.
pickA slight focus on Michael Vick and the case against him, but the heart of the story was the dogs being rescued from the fight ring and being taken to shelters and rehabilitated and fostered and given love. There are some awful things in this book, the description of wounds and the things done to these dogs but they are not done to excess, just to let you know what they had gone through. It is a hard read though, I definitely cried multiple times.

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Bo passed away this morning. She was 14 so she had a long life with my family. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful four legged companion. #dogsoflitsy
This is our mutt Daisy. She has been with us now about 7 years. She showed up in our yard covered in fleas and ticks and so malnourished she could hardly walk. Now she is so fat she can hardly walk but what a joy! #nationalmuttday
Bandit took a major turn for the worse today. I just put him to sleep. 😭😭😭 Thank you everyone for your support during his illness. You are all such wonderful people. Thank you a million times from the bottom of my heart. God got one heck of an angel tonight!!
Bandit update! He's doing better. No grand mal seizures today!! 💜💜💜 He's still having partial seizures and neurological signs, but he is steadily improving! I'm sorry I'm not replying to everyone's comments. I have to hold Bandit and that makes it hard to type. The best news is that his trademark ear expression is back! Thank you all so much!!!!!! 💗🐶💗
Bandit is home from the vet now. He was put under anesthesia (propofol) twice today to control his seizures. He spent the day at the vet.
Last night was terrible. He had near constant seizures, circling, and other neurological signs. I hope he can have a seizure-free night tonight. His iv catheter is still in so I can give him emergency medicine if needed.

Bandit is extremely sick. I am heartbroken. 😓💔😓 He has had 20 seizures today. He was home with my parents this morning, at the vet this afternoon, and now I'm taking care of him. I'm afraid I'm going to have to put him down or that he's going to die one day while I'm at work. I'm on the verge of tears, but I can't cry. Good thoughts/prayers/anything appreciated!! ❤️❤️🐶
