Still waiting for something interesting to happen. It‘s a good read though.
Haven‘t read fiction in almost two years (thanks to grad school). I‘m not sure how I feel about this one but I keep going back to it. 🤷🏾♀️
WTF. I do love learning about Victorian England. This biography is so good!
Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss! Watching the cartoon before preschool. ❤️
Truly enjoyed this one! It really is a Nigerian version of Harry Potter. 😊 Not too similar though.
*UNPOPULAR OPINION* I won't say much, but, the WTF ending was so disappointing! There's no way possible that anyone can predict it so don't even try. I wanted to throw this one across the room.
#currentlyreading Meth addict father, gay and pregnant bffs, weight issues, and more. Diary format and I'm loving it. #litsyAtoZ
I've had such an amazing V-Day! My secret Cupid did an awesome job choosing the perfect books for me. I've had Swing Time on hold at the library for WEEKS and now I own it. Just finished Kindred and I plan on tackling all of Octavia Butler's fantasy novels. The Jane Eyre novel journal is my personal favorite, accompanied by the book. I have yet to read Persuasion but now I must. @EmilyChristine thank you so so much for your effort! You rock!
I can appreciate the Indian dishes, customs, and traditions mentioned so it's a 3 star book for me. The romance made me roll my eyes one too many times but I'd be open to reading book #2. Most of the book takes place in America; you will also visit Mumbai and Rajasthan too. I think I'm going to watch my first Bollywood film. 😊
Guess what I'm reading today? First psychological thriller in 2017. Waiting to have an opinion on #WTFthatending 😂
It's my husband's birthday and I've spent a good amount of time in the kitchen. He feels bad but I'm having a blast! Thai chicken and rice soup for dinner. Baking some cupcakes with the little one too. 😊
40% in. The characters are meh, plot is meh. Going to keep reading anyway.
2.5 stars A few of her satirical short stories were engaging and others were just okay. As an African American housewife and military spouse, I can't relate. This book isn't for me.
On my way to the post office! Going to pay a little extra to get there in time. #cupidgoespostal
8 books read in January. 5 fiction, 3 nonfiction. 2 #diversereads. 6 female authors, 2 male authors. Exceeded my goal of 5 books per month. My husband is back from his deployment so I'm not too sure how I'll do in February. We shall see!
Let's get the Feminist party started!
Listened to the audiobook read by Rachel McAdams. This is one of my favorite classic books!
Waiting for my new Nook to arrive so I can finish Kindred. Reading on my laptop is not comfortable so I picked up this short story collection instead.
When your toddler breaks your Nook...
Always have a backup plan! Loving this book so I couldn't give up on it. 👍🏾
It's my 29th birthday! 🎉🎉All I want is this cake, coffee, and the whole day to read. My husband has been deployed for a while (so it's not possible) but he's coming back very soon. It's just me and my little one today and we're going to make the best of it! Maybe hang out with a friend too. 😍
#cupidgoespostal box arrived today!!!!! Can't wait to open it on V-Day. Thank you, whoever you are. 😘😘🎉🎉🎉
In case you missed it.
Found a book club nearby and they're meeting on Sunday! 👏🏾👏🏾 They chose two books last month Overseas and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I have two days to read so I chose this one! Happy Friday everyone. 😊😊
Started this one today, thanks to @annebogel If you've read it, tell me what you think (no spoilers please).
YA fantasy/historical fiction. I've been looking forward to reading this one but I'm not enjoying it and I don't want to waste any more time. Going to pick up another and try to come back to it later.
Nonfiction pick. I have a few issues with this one already but it's an interesting read.
There is more here than meets the eye, folks. Wouldn't consider this a fast paced mystery/thriller, however, Tana's writing is superb and you'll want to take your sweet time savoring every word. Forensic psychology lovers will appreciate this. Not in a rush to read the second book in the series but I definitely recommend In The Woods.
Decided to start a reading journal today. I'm documenting my thoughts on the book I'm reading and who I would cast for the film. Lol I'm such a dork. Don't read too hard if you haven't read the book. Also, I have nasty handwriting when I'm journaling so....😁😁
Looking forward to #hpchapteraday! #ravenclaw #potterhead
January's TBR. I never follow through but maybe I'll get lucky this month. #readjanuary #thismonthstbr.
Happy New Year everyone! On my way back to El Paso 😔 with my family. Challenging myself to read 60 books this year. First book to read in 2017 is In the Woods by Tana French. If you've read it, what were your thoughts?
New book!
Made it to an independent bookshop in Dallas called The Wild Detectives. What's better than indie books and a bar? A few popular books too. 😊
Found this on The Wild Detectives (independent bookshop) website. So so true! That's why I didn't see The Girl on the Train, Fantastic Beasts, or Fences. 😩
Neal Shusterman is an author that I want to explore in 2017! So I haven't read a lot of YA dystopian novels but I do know that this one was GREAT. Two young adults chosen to help control population by "gleaning" and giving immunity to other citizens in MidMerica. They become apprentices to the most powerful scythes and their loyalty is tested. To be honest, I can't summarize the book well enough so just read it lol. 5 stars from me!
