I think this might be the first time that I'm actually starting my #botm pick the same month that I received it! I just can't wait for this one, so it's skipping the line!
I'm a sucker for #bookswithmaps
I'm on one heck of a cozy mystery kick. I find them so relaxing and comforting, but they are certainly not perfect. For instance, if I hear the term "murderess" in one more of these novels, I am going to explode. It is not a noun that needs to be gendered.
So excited that I was able to borrow this so quickly from the library! I couldn't resist taking a little break from work to dig in further.
Hooray! This one put me over my goal for the year! It has certainly helped that this year I'm confessing to all of the silly books I read that I have kept a secret in past years 😂
😳 How do people with children read suspenseful books like this? It's pretty much guaranteeing that I will never bring my son to a zoo, or a theme park, or out in public ever again 😩
All the stress of life lately has me seeking solace in cozy mysteries. In searching for a good escape, I was so excited to see a new book in the Poppy Peters series. It was so great to revisit these characters and I can't wait to see what comes in the books ahead!
Every single book looks SO good this month!! How am I supposed to choose just one?! 😩
This one is a total #blameitonlitsy read, but I'm so glad for it! This is a really approachable read about such a hot button issue.
Al Roker writes mysteries?! I might need to read this to satisfy my curiosity...
I am really going to need my library to improve its search function so I can more easily discover cozy mysteries with food puns in the name. They're my bread and butter 😂😂
I've wanted this book since I first learned of its existence and I finally bit the bullet! Can't wait to get started!
I will always say that printed books are my favorite, hands down. However, I will admit that I'm a frequent kindle reader for the light weight convenience of it all! I can easily read one-handed! Thanks for running this giveaway @Booksandcooks and congratulations!! #6666giveaway
It isn't until I read a male author that I realize how many female authors I read. I'm only about 10% into this one, but I'm not digging how the female character is portrayed at all. She is just off. I wonder if men feel the same way when they read a novel by a woman author portraying a man.
I'm only a few minutes into this one and I'm already a bit skeptical. It's hard for me to understand someone who's complaining about not achieving literary fame at 22, especially when so many women have to struggle, working less desirable jobs for their entire lives. I'll at least give it a full hour of listening before I give up! I have hope!
My very first Goodreads giveaway win! Now I know how the people in the Publisher's Clearing House commercials feel! 😂
I've been craving an interesting YA story and I'm hoping this will do the trick!
Curse you thrift books stickers!!!!
So excited to finally start this on audio today! I always have trouble keeping track of characters when I start a new audiobook, this one might require me to make a chart!
I feel like people have been very hard on this book because Ready Player One was just so amazing. If you don't compare it to his other work, this book is great in itself! I love how Ernest Cline writes YA for people in their 30s 😂 There is just no possible way anyone younger would get all of his references, but I adore them!
I LOVED Ready Player One, so I'm so excited to start this one! Although I'm a bit nervous because there seems to be universal agreement that it's not as good as RPO. But I'll be excited about any audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton. I wish he would narrate my life.
I've really been having trouble focusing on reading lately. Thank goodness for audiobooks!
And now for something completely different!
Finally finished my two week long audiobook binge, without a single one of my holds being sent back to the library before I finished! Woot! I'd have to say that the Girl With All the Gifts and the Geekerella were definitely my favorites, and Into the Water was my biggest disappointment.
Since I realized I have read three books that start with the letter "G" this year, it's about time that I start to really focus on the letters I have left in the #LitsyAtoZ challenge! Here is my letter "C" and I feel confident it will be a good one!
My favorite non-fiction is one of the first books I posted about here on Litsy! It's been a while since I've read a nonfiction book that gripped me like this account! #5555giveaway @Booksandcooks
LOVED this book! Sometimes audiobooks are judged with a bit of a harsher scale, judging both the performance and the writing, and this didn't fail in either aspect! "Horror" without being scary, more fascinating.
I may actually get through all of my audiobook loans from the library before they expire! Three down, two to go! Super stoked to start this one this morning!
Are Sara Shepard's books extremely well written, sophisticated literature? No. Are they my favorite, dramatic, twisty, guilty pleasures? Yes! She always manages to throw in some completely unpredictable twists that still make sense with the story and her newest was no exception.
Of course almost all of my audiobook library holds trickled in last week! 😬 Two down, three to go! Starting this one next!
Expressing my feelings through stickers on this one. It's certainly hard for words to describe how much I love this book. I finished it up while also binge watching Dear White People on Netflix and the combination of the two has really reignited a fire in me.
I'm about a quarter way through this and I'm having a bit of trouble getting into it. Seeing all the fantastic reviews, I don't want to give up yet! Did anyone else have trouble starting this series?
This was a lot more of a crime procedural than I expected after hearing others rave about it, but there's nothing wrong with that! I thought I had some of the twists and turns pegged, but this book still managed to surprise me. Hard to put down!
I've never won a giveaway or had an ARC in print, but today I am so excited to have received this thanks to @MorgansMenagerie !! Can't wait to dive in!
So excited to start this audiobook today! I've heard nothing but great things!
So tough to discuss this one without spoilers! I can say that the writing was well done, the story was captivating, but I wasn't always pleased with what was happening in it. I definitely had some frustrated moments where I wanted to yell and I can't help but wonder if it would have been more interesting had the murder not been disclosed in the first few pages, but I'd still recommend this if you're ok not always feeling comfortable.
I can't decide! It's either the Leavers or Priestdaddy for me. I'm not normally a memoir kind of gal, but this one sounds so interesting! Decisions, decisions 🤔
OK, maybe I'm being nitpicky, but you're telling me that the guy in this book hit a deer with a Fiat and there is no damage to the car? Ha ha, this story has me captivated so far, but there are a lot of little unbelievable details like this.
I can't really participate in the readathon since I have to take care of my little man all day, but I'm devoting as much time as I can to reading this weekend! I'd love to finish this up so I can get started on the show!
Finished this one up at dusk on the back porch tonight. Also, I'm a terrible photographer. But want to know what's not terrible? This book! (Great segue, right?) I would double pick this book if I could. This book was wonderfully written and I just loved the relationships and passion that was developed in this story. I'm going to miss the characters deeply now that I'm finished.
In the mood for something dark and thrilling, hopefully this fits the bill!
Total meh. I can usually get down with unlikable characters, but these people were the worst! Nothing new, nothing done better than anyone else, just generally mediocre.
I think that about half of the books I've read in the past year are because of this wonderful community, but this is the most recent! #GRABBYHANDS @Liberty
