#ihavequestions @RaeLovesToRead
1) I have to say my first ever SK - Cycle of the Werewolf
2) I like horror, but these days unexpected bills give me more chills than any horror I've read in the last decade. Or my "horror bone" is broken. I don't avoid any sub-genre.
3) Again, my first: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - and some of Grimms' Original Fairy Tales are very dark.

A super quick read. Not exactly a graphic novel but more of a short novella with illustrations. Stephen King has very rarely disappointed me. Although this wasn‘t a favorite, I still enjoyed it. Uncle Al sounds like a wonderful adult and Marty is a very brave little boy. Even in such a short story, King packs in characterization without plodding exposition.
This was my #DoubleSpin for #BookSpinBingo.

I didn‘t expect to like this one much at all but I ended up absolutely loving it. Werewolves aren‘t typically my favorite creature-in fact, I usually avoid werewolf stories. (I love vampires and zombies the most!) But the illustrations, the story structure, and the unlikely hero won my heart over. The end is perfection 🤌🏻
Next up #readingstephenking: Skeleton Crew! I‘m so excited for this because I love King‘s short story collections so much.
A tragically quick read. The town of Tarker's Mill is this book's foremost character, and one I hope we'll see return at some point. The monthly format was fun, and I could see it being utilized to great effect if this book were to quadruple in size the way it probably should. This book left me hungry for more, and made me realize what a great werewolf novel King could write if he ever gets a "wild hair" to do so. 5/5
More than a horror, it‘s a character study, where the character is a small town, and the titular werewolf is the background on which it is painted—an interesting reverse of focus, once you notice it. As always, King has an uncanny ability of bringing his characters to life with a few sentences, plus the book has the vibes of those corny horror B-movies I like to watch sometimes instead of comedies. Ultimately, not very scary but still fun.
3.5/5
Set in small town Maine, this is a series of vignettes with an interlaced cast of characters. There is one vignette for each month of the year, set on the full moon, as a werewolf attacks. As the months pass and rumor and speculation circulate the town gets more frightened. Also includes amazing illustrations through.
Week 2 points! Finished a couple of books this week! Hell followed with us, cycle of the werewolf and dead leaves! I really enjoyed reading them! And I really liked Hell followed with us! Went to the pumpkin patch with my family and my dog Gambit had lots of fun! #scarathlon2022 #Teammonstermash @StayCurious #promptmaze #Trappedonanisland #Spookoween #pointsathon #Littenlisten @aperfectmjk @TheSpineView @DieAReader @TheAromaofBooks
Great book! I love all the werewolf pictures throughout :)
This is a very quick read, and there is a lot of great art work in here that really adds to the story! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Time to rejoin my #stephenkinglonghaul journey!
Book 6📚
Another goal of mine this year is to make a dent in my bookshelf😂 (October I‘m going to do 31 nights of Fear Street!)
Cool short story from King! Broken down into each month as the story slowly unfolds👁🧨
Illustrations in this book were really neat🩸 - all done in ‘83
I really liked this illustrated wolfy story. I wasn't particularly shocked by the identity of the beast, but it was still a fun read.
Part of it took place on Halloween.

In this fun, quick read we spend a year in a town were the residents are terrorized by the werewolf that hides among them.
I've put off buying this for years because it's short and it's always been pretty expensive but my other half got it for me as a gift and I've just made it my 55th Stephen King read.
This one is fast-paced, there's not much plot wise, it's pretty straightforward but I did like it; the illustrations were very good at creating an atmosphere which was perfect for the subject matter.

This has always been a favorite of mine. I love the development of the story over the months, and the artwork creeps me out, which makes me love it even more.
I'm a sucker for a well done werewolf story.

What are you reading? 😊
“According to the Coslaw kid, this ‘beast‘ stood about seven feet tall, was naked, was covered with dark hair all over his body. He had big teeth and green eyes and smelled like a load of panther-shit.”
So uh this book was different from a regular King novel. 😳I like a monster story but this was just weird and not for me. This was originally published (with the illustrations) as a calendar in 1983 and some of these illustrations would make more sense on your wall than others. 😂 Book 16/24 for #bfc28 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was a little surprised at who it was and it was weird how they became a werewolf to begin with. Quick read but not really scary. Plenty of gore.
I just devoured this King novella in one setting, with spotify's Classical Noir playing to set the mood. A good old fashioned monster story. I really liked the ending. At 127 pages (incl. Illustrations), it's a really quick read. I recommend horror lovers grab it for the next full moon 😏
I avoided this one for far too long...I didn‘t think I would like it for some reason. Glad I was wrong. This is a good werewolf story!! #MountTBR
Second book finished for #MrBook1InAMillion
I really enjoyed this book and the illustrations. It is so much better than the movie Silver Bullet. #losersclub

Bernie Wrightson's illustrations in King's Cycle of the Werewolf are really well done.
#screamathonphotochallenge Day 13. @4thhouseontheleft
I‘d seen Silver Bullet, the movie based on this book, but I‘d never read the book. It‘s a good, well-written take on the werewolf.
I‘m settling in with the tagged book for the night. I will go back to The Great Alone; I was just in the mood for some straight up Stephen King horror. The bottom is book haul I got tonight.
Closest thing to a werewolf in this house is Cookie, who would like to know why we are not asleep yet. This is one for #ScaryScavengerHunt a book that scares me. I don‘t normally have any particular fear of werewolves, but this book makes me feel nervous as the sun goes down and this reread was no different. #TeamStoker #Scarathlon @TheReadingMermaid

I read this Sept 29-30 & rated it 3.5 ⭐️on Good Reads. Not bad but not great. It starts out really good but starts to get tedious.

Thanks to a post by @Butterflyamore about a month ago I‘m now reading this. Then I‘m going to watch the movie again. Silver Bullet was a favorite movie when I was a kid so let‘s see how it holds up. The book is reminding me of the movie quite a bit!
I‘ve only read one Stephen King novel and this is it. I read it when I was 14. I asked the bookstore near my home to order it for me. I had been obsessed with a movie called Silver Bullet and the movie was based on this book.
I held onto the book into my early adult years. I‘m not sure what happened to it & I was sad to realize that it had disappeared.
Last night I found this at Goodwill for $1.99! I was so excited about finding it!
In this awesome little book, Marty is disappointed when the towns #fireworks are cancelled (on account of rampant werewolf-related murder), so has his own little fireworks show... with mixed results. 😳
Loved the movie, too. RIP Corey 💔
#ReadingResolutions
C is for Calendar, the original format for Cycle of the Werewolf, which quickly turned into a great little novella by Stephen King with wonderful illustrations by Berni Wrightson. It was also a movie called Silver Bullet.
Sorry for posting early, but I didn't want to miss it in case of the outage.

Doing a werewolf double feature tonight: Ginger Snaps and An American Werewolf In London.
Scenes of unbelieving horror come each time the full moon shines on the isolated town of Tarker Mills. #FullMoonMayhem

Saturday's #BookMail and final read of April.
By the light of the full moon, a monster terrorizes the isolated Maine town of Tarker Mills.
This was a quick read. With all meat and no filler this story gets directly to the point. An enjoyable horror story you can read in one sitting.
He kept me up at night with his illustrations and fired my imagination. Rest In Peace, Berni Wrightson.
