I‘ve been reading this book for a few months now, and am still only halfway through, but I am enjoying it so much! It requires my large outdoor table for note taking, googling, and beverages. Also, I finished a wonderful YA book this morning. A solid 💛💛💛💛💛 for The Astonishing Color of After.
I feel blue. No idea why. A little bit of a book hangover maybe? IQ was great! I‘ll miss Isaiah, but only until next week when I buy the next in the series. No need to fret, there are 2 more Joe Ide IQ books already out. MEANWHILE... Big Steve will help me to RELAX!!! (Ren & Stimpy reference). Reading outside this late afternoon, but a breeze kicked up, so I threw my robe on over my shorts until dinner time. 🌤🌬🍷📚

This one is for my fellow 80‘s music fans! 4AD is the record label best known for Cocteau Twins, early Bauhaus, This Mortal Coil, et al. Much like certain book publishers, once you got one 4AD pressing, you went crazy and got as many as you could! I have quite the collection myself, but never enough. I am taking copious notes and making playlists. 600+ pages of musical memories and behind-the-scenes info. 🎶⚜️🖤

I can almost feel the humidity and smell the ocean from these 2 tropical reads as I huddle under the blankets on my couch. Moloka‘i has been in a #TBR stack of mine since 2008. I didn‘t realize the tagged book is set in Micronesia until I started it. Of course that is clearly stated on the back cover, but once I know I want to read something, I just grab & go without looking! Keeps things exciting.

January wrap-up. Since I was in Mexico for 2 weeks, I read a bunch of things that had been languishing on my kindle app. I loved the tagged book and can‘t wait to read the next in the series, The Dazzling Heights. I‘ve only got 150 pages left in Shantaram, but won‘t make it tonight. 3 books going currently, so starting February off in good shape.
Look what I got for my birthday! The complete set of The Books of Blood by Clive Barker. The first book is signed and the whole set was published by Subterranean Press. We saw it months ago at the soon-to-be-closed (if it hasn‘t already) bookstore I love in Berkeley, CA called Dark Carnival which I‘ve posted about before. My guy bought it, stashed it, and I was able to totally freak out!! Such a wonderful addition to my Clive Barker collection.

I read this in just over 2 days! I‘m still in Mexico and kind of all partied out, so I‘m partying with my Kindle app. Can‘t wait to see what kind of dreams this one will give me tonight. Not strictly horror, but definitely scary and twisted. Very vivid as well, especially because I‘ve watched and read a lot of psychological thrillers over the years, so I could really “see” these characters.
Hello #LitsyFamily! I am once again in San Miguel de Allende visiting g my aunt for her 88th birthday. I only travel with my Kindle and have been reading a lot. I brought along this journal and just started it this morning. WiFi is spotty, but my local cantina has it, so a margarita, a pen, and I‘m all set. It‘s very cold nights and mornings, but during the day I can stroll, stop, and read.

Today‘s ThriftBooks #bookhaul! Some of these have been on my wishlist more than 10 years. I loved the Shogun miniseries when I watched it in the ‘80s. My mom had a well-worn paperback back then, but I never got to read it. I bought a hardback in the ‘90s-turned our to be only vol.2. Finally I have my own hardback edition, 1975, complete with cool bookplate from original owner. Saving this #chunkster for next year.

Ok, this books gets a serious “WTF am I reading?!?” A mash-up of House of Leaves and Amityville Horror. I‘ve got an 85 lb. dog pressed against me, a glass of great wine, and (contraband) BBQ chips to comfort me. Only on page 93, but this will be finished tonight (the book, not the chips) followed by a late night Friends marathon until I calm down.
