so, i knew this was from the 40‘s and i didn‘t expect it to be PC but this was my least favorite so far. it left me with almost a slimy feeling. guess i‘m just not a Mike Hammer fan! #Oct2020 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime

i really liked this. reminded me of a short story and i loved the ending #Sept2020 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime
“On the afternoon of April 27, 1860, a tall black man named Charles Nalle stood defiantly before United States Commissioner Miles Beach in a courthouse in Troy, New York.”
#FirstLineFridays
not really a favorite but i liked the wrap-up. as is well known, the title has had to be changed a couple times over the years 😬 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Aug2020
this was great, especially with Benedict Cumberbatch narrating 😍
apocalyptic fanfiction. very weird but fascinating, just like the author! would make a pretty awesome movie. (pretty sure he really owns Charlie Chaplin‘s cane :)
this hilarious satire of Trump‘s white house is just what i needed. and we finally find out what the Russians have on our “fearless leader!”
Lew Archer is a famous detective and i was really looking forward to this but i wasn‘t engaged at all and the plot was bananas 🍌 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Jul2020
i‘m late getting this posted but this was for June. i liked her writing a lot so thumbs up! 👍 #Jun2020 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime
at first it seemed pretty dated but by the end i was a huge fan of tough guy Travis McGee 😎 #May2020 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime
i haven‘t read very many Tony Hillerman books and i liked this a lot 👍 #BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Apr2020 #kokopelli
just OK but a great ending. there are at least 2 movies based on this, starring Robert Wagner and Matt Dillon respectively.
#BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Mar2020
loved it! need to see the movie now with Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame
#BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Feb2020
so i‘ve been collecting this set, The Best Mysteries of All Time, for a very long time. i have almost all of them i think (88 so far with 6 more i know of that i still need) and i‘ve decided i should read some instead of just collecting them :) i‘m trying for one a month at least this year and this was the first.
#BestMysteriesOfAllTime #Jan2020
finally finished this. first book of the year! these wild and crazy guys (especially Steve Martin) were part of my life in the 80s and i loved hearing the backstories of some of my favorite movies. that said, by the end i was glad to be done and able to start something else :)
#libraryloan
all the stars and thumbs...i bought the gorgeous coffee table book with full page film photos and the audiobook (great narrator) and will definitely revisit. full of thoughtful insight, i.e. Llewyn Davis WAS the cat (probably a tomcat :) the endpapers are of course a rendering of the Dude‘s famous rug. recommended for all cinephiles, especially Cohen fans 👍👍
thanks SO much @jillannjohn i love ❤️ everything! the Shining book bag is especially awesome :) can‘t wait to watch and read! thanks for swapping 😍 (it did arrive yesterday but i had to work last night) #ReadTheMoviesSwap
#ShowMeYourSticker so important. voting is not just a privilege but a right (and look what happened last time when people didn‘t vote)!! 🇺🇸
i‘ve been a book sloth recently but with the tagged book for #SetInTheStateYouCurrentlyResideIn i‘ve finally finished my #LitsyReadingChallenge2018. have to admit i‘m looking forward to reading whatever i want now! #LRC2018
i ❤️❤️❤️ movies, books about movies, movies based on books, etc. etc. so i‘m really excited about this swap! #ReadTheMoviesSwap 🎬🍿
in the 80s this monstrous man kidnapped, tortured and killed more young women than can be imagined. despite the cover, it‘s not sensationalist but more about police work and the FBI finally closing in. very much a cautionary tale as he slipped through every crack in the system and should have been put away years before. very personal for me as i knew one of the girls and her family. so sad. #ATrueCrimeStory #LitsyReadingChallenge2018
#FavoriteFictionalPet Gromit! i‘d love to have a super smart pet to help with all the situations i get into :) #AugInBooks18
i love these! a wonderful addition to my collection:) thanks so much Jenny (fellow Taurus)! 🐂♉️ #SummerBookmarkSwap
thanks so much @TheBookKeepers (Amanda)! i love all of them, especially the Disney ones with the quotes. thanks again for swapping :) #summerbookmarkswap

#LitsyReadingChallenge2018
i enjoyed this short book a lot. i especially agree with this advice!
#AFunFactAboutYou #JuneInBooks18 I‘m not a traveler but Melvin, my traveling gnome, has been all over the world thanks to friends and family inviting him along on vacation. he just got back last week after a trip to Vietnam (middle picture). other pictures clockwise are Croatia, Paris, Great Wall of China and NYC Metropolitan Opera House. no trips planned at the moment but he‘s always packed and ready for his next adventure!

unconventional history of what astronauts have to go through and behind the scenes scientific info that is unbelievably weird. i loved it! though i definitely will think about space travel from a less glamorous perspective now 😧 #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #AboutSpaceOrAstronauts 🚀
do you still listen to cassettes?? found these during spring cleaning. some people like old books but these audiobooks on cassette maybe not so much :( they‘re probably headed to the library book sale.
#NobodysPerfect #AdelesMayMashup interesting bio of the iconic director. this of course is the famous last line of his classic favorite Some Like It Hot 🎥🎬
