34/100 This wasn't the conclusion that I wanted, but I guess it is the ending that best suits the story. In the end, there's no justice, for anyone, people die, the studio covers more scandals, and everyone shrugs and goes about their business as if it's all supposed to be this way. 3.75/5 #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

TieDyeDude Yeah, it had kind of a Chinatown ending, which was fitting, IMO. 6d

This is the final volume and it‘s somewhere between a so so and a pick. The first volume was really good, and the second was even better. So I was really excited for the climax in this volume and it didn‘t...hit as hard as I was expecting. This volume was still good but for whatever reason the big reveal wasn‘t as good as I was hoping. Still a really well done graphic novel and would still recommend it to others if you like Hollywood noir style.

Swe_Eva All three are waiting patiently on my Kindle fpr their turn. 😁 7y
RainyDayReading @Swe_Eva Awesome! I hope you enjoy them! I wish there was more than just the three volumes. 7y

I binge-read all three volumes of The Fade Out yesterday and really enjoyed it. I wish there were more! The conclusion to the mystery was satisfying but not jaw-dropping. Overall I'd give the whole series a solid 4.5⭐️I really loved the artwork and the authentic 1940s Old Hollywood noir feel to it. Highly recommended! #graphicnovel #noir #oldhollywood

JenlovesJT47 @Eggs isn't this beautiful? Sometimes my favorite part of a graphic novel is the variant covers at the end. The Fade Out definitely has great artwork. I dunno if you like Old Hollywood or not, but she looks like a mixture between Carole Lombard, Joan Fontaine (the face not the hair), and someone else I can't quite put my finger on. 🤔 7y
KVanRead Just finished my binge too. So good. Would love to find more like these. 7y
JenlovesJT47 @KVanRead have you read the Fatale series also by Ed Brubaker? I just started it but it's pretty good so far. Set in the 1950s and present day. 7y
KVanRead @JenlovesJT47 I was just looking at it on Hoopla. I think I‘ll try it as well. 7y

Volumes 1 and 2 were brilliant - tight, mean, twisted and labyrinthine in that way that good noir is. They were so good that I had really high expectations for the climax in volume 3. And it was good...just not as good as the first two acts promised. The resolution lacked the impact I wanted, though the whole series is still very much worth reading from start to finish.
