(Book 3 of 2025) I feel like this book moves at a slower pace than Fourth Wing, but it's just as great. Cannot wait to start book 3.

(Book 2 of 2025) Just wow! Everything was perfect from this book. The writing, the story, the world building, the characters! This was my first time reading something by Yarros and it definitely will not be the last because I have to finish this series! Yarros makes you go through all the emotions. It's written in such a manner that you can practically feel the fire, smell the scent of sweat and FEEL that sexual tension! See Comments....

Captivatedbybooks You are captivated by the first few words and are NEVER lets you go. I definitely suggest starting the book when you have a lot of time to read because this is a book that will consume you and you will not want to do anything else but read. Dystopia at it's finest. The FMC reminds me alot like Mare Barrow from The Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard.

The protagonist, Violet, faces an unexpected path shifting from her scribe aspirations to surviving in the dangerous Riders Quadrant. The story features emotional betrayals, and a mix of humor and complexity, particularly with the dragon characters. While the world-building is appreciated, excessive foreshadowing and anachronistic language affect immersion.

I really enjoyed this fantasy novel about a dragon slayer and his bard. It's different in that it is set in modern-day Southwestern Ontario and is an alternate history novel with political and historical events explained in the context of fossil-fuel consuming dragons.
