For the love of all the gods and all the dragons… I get that Paolini has created this very full world, but good lord do I need a 20 min description of something that can be said in a paragraph? (Dear Reader, High Fantasy is not for me lol) One more and then I can read Murtagh. 😭

WOW! I cannot believe I did it. Having not read consistently for YEARS and getting hooked on Fourth Wing at the start of 2025, I decided to challenge myself to read 25 books this year. NEVER did I imagine that four and a half months later I would already achieve my goal! What‘s next? I have a few mysteries to finish and then I think maybe I will challenge myself to another 25 books.

What a wild ride. Definitely happy I picked this one up and it was worth the hype! I sped through the last two hundred pages. Onto the next story!

Fourth Wing will always be my favorite in the series. Onyx Storm was a solid 4 stars for me. There are a lot of characters to keep straight, and a couple times I got confused as to who was who. There is a lot of political machinations going on, and the casual way that people were being killed as pawns in a sick game was upsetting. My favorite part of the book is when Violet interacts with her dragons. I love hearing their conversations.

AileenRR I‘ve still got a long wait for my library copy. I‘m worried I‘ll forget what happened in the previous books. 7d

While a bit slow to start I ended up enjoying this more the further I got. In a lot of ways this felt like Hunger Games with dragons, but with more camaraderie from the beginning. There was definitely more murder than I anticipated, but it upped the stakes in a satisfying way.

The last chapter, again, in Xaden‘s POV - no spoilers!

Another engaging tale! Some unexpected things happened that will be interesting to see how they play out in the series books to come. I‘m still shipping Xaden and Violet!

Though I‘m probably going to have to wait awhile before the Graphic Audio comes out for Onyx Storm. I will not listen to the normal audiobook; I need Gabriel Michael as Xaden‘s voice! 😉

I recently learned about Lillördag, “Little Saturday“, a Nordic tradition of doing things you normally only do on the weekends about halfway through the week so you have something to look forward to and break up the daily routine a bit. I'm starting a puzzle while listening to the tagged audiobook. I also got take out, which I rarely do, even on the weekends. So far I'm very much enjoying the relaxation after a chaotic day at work.
