It was entertaining. The sci fi element was fun and the love story was good. Wasn‘t an amazing book but def a good listen while working.
The first 2/3 of this novel are excellent, while the final third, comparably speaking, was a bit of a let down. More sci-fi than thriller, fans of Lovecraft will surely dig the intertextuality—but familiarity with Lovecraft and his works are not a must to enjoy Providence.
Christmas gift from @crazyspine ❤️. I‘ll start reading this one next!
When you get what you want, what you always wanted, what it means to be you is to want this thing and now you have it and there is a roar. Love.
..how irrelevant love is when it comes to fate intervening.
Because the universe is timing. We exist, each one of us, because of timing. If you think about it, life is timing.
I promise youll paint..as if a person you love can promise you what youll do. But isnt it why tou get married in the first place? So that someone can tow the boat when youre tired.
But then, normal is a bogus word. Theres no such thing as normal, for for anyone.
But then its nice to be wanted so openly, craved like pizza.
Everything in life doesnt have an answer or a meaning.
First line: I brung Pedro home for Thanksgiving break and tomorrow I have to bring him back to school.
What an interesting book! Certainly the opposite of her "You" books. I just flew right through it. Poor Jon.
This is how we hide from the fireworks.
Do you tuck or dont tuck?? Ive been using the book flap more and more lately.
Happy Friday all! Enjoying some time outside before its blazing hot.
Another great book from @Come-read-with-me ! I love Caroline Kepnes. Thanks Paula! 😍
I really liked You (the audiobook is amazing) and the sequel was good. Providence is not You at all, but I ended up liking it even better! A young, nerdy teen is kidnapped, and returns years later with powers he doesn't want and are dangerous to those he loves. I devoured this book, loved the characters and just everything about it. It's definitely more sci-fi, but fear not, there's some murder! #IamProvidence
1. I'm currently listening to the tagged book and loving it! Also reading The Southern Book Club's Guide to Vampire Slayings, which is also awesome.
2. Heads of the Colored People by Nafissa Thompson-Spires- a utterly fantastic collection of short stories! I love short stories, but usually in any collection there's at least a few duds, but not in this one!
3. People who dismiss audiobooks as lesser than.

Completely different from You, I am nevertheless completely being sucked in by this story!
I just don't think I understood this one. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but since this was based in reality and was from C. Kepnes, I figured I'd still love it. I have never read any HP Lovecraft, so I felt I was missing key analogies, and I just don't know what happened at the end. I like the idea of the all-encompassing romance, and Eggs was well-developed as a character. Kepnes writing is also amazing. I just personally didn't connect with it.
Trying to get through the Providence audiobook before it expires in three days, so doing a puzzle! (Not as riveting as YOU or HIDDEN BODIES yet). I've been thinking about doing one for a while, but I was worried about where to put it in between puzzling. Hopefully this cookie sheet works!
I picked up this book as part of #booksparks #src2019. As i read, i realized i should be very interested in this book as a Lovecraft and Frankenstein fan. However, i feel like this book tried to do too many things and succeeded at none of them. It‘s a love story without romance. It‘s a supernatural thriller without excitement. It‘s a mystery with no crime. Too much focus on characters‘ interior lives for my tastes. It‘s fine, but not great.
“He was missing when we were kids, but this is different. This time he left. I‘m the missing person. That‘s what i do all night, all day. I miss him.”
You can tell from the book genre this is not going to like other books written by Kepnes. As a reader I appreciate it when authors dive into other genres, at times it has made me appreciate a genre I may not have picked up if not for a particular author.
At the heart of this story it‘s full of romance, literal heartache, sci-fi & suspense.

This is super different from YOU and I loved it. Much more character focused and didn‘t make you need to take a shower upon finishing. A slow burn with just a touch of the supernatural. Delightful. #netgalley
Any #Littens in Providence, RI? I'm on my way to the Providence Book Festival and the lineup looks great. I'll be talking about Woman 99 solo and also participating in a historical fiction panel with Lauren Willig, Juliette Fay, and others. Hope to see some of you there! https://www.providencebookfestival.org
My main issue with this book is, it's not You. And I wanted it to be You. I wanted it to grab me, and the characters to leap off the page like You did. I never got that. The book also ends without an explanation for a major part of the plot and I hate that. It felt very unfinished to me. But it is fast paced and kept me entertained. The audio is great.

Sigh... I knew it was going to be different than You, but I still had high hopes for this one. However, it left me wanting more. I felt like I didn‘t connect with any of the characters, and didn‘t really care about the outcome of the book. Oh well, you can‘t love them all.
Have you guys read this one? What did you think?
#BookishWeekend
Starting this one while I carry on with my crafting. 💜

I liked it, but didn't love it. I'd still recommend for a quick, exciting read.
I got this book in a huge haul from thrift books. One of my favorite things about used books is seeing what was important or striking to a previous reader.
This has been one hell of a year.. and somewhere along the way I lost my book drive. Yeah I listened to a few audibles to and from places, but haven‘t picked up a physical book in 6months. Damn, it feels good!
This book is not like YOU, doesn‘t grab you by the throat and pull you in but slowly grips you. I‘m enjoying it very much so far!
This was nothing like YOU, so I'd steer clear if you're hoping for something similar. I liked this multi-genre #audiobook but wasn't blown away. There were some problems I had, but can't really discuss them without spoilers. Somewhat sci-fi/horror, also YA-ish and a bit of police procedural in there as well. It was many things. Lol
Listening to this #audiobook thanks to #libby
I hope I enjoy it more than others whose reviews I've read! So far it does feel very YA, not that that's a bad thing.
I don't think I've done this in a while....
1. Tagged. Apparently I haven't read a lot of "P" books
2. Christopher Pike
3. Pride & Prejudice
4. Pistachios

Such a heartbreaking story! 😩 This wasn‘t what I expected at all. I wonder if there will be a sequel like the author did with You. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very good after a slow beginning. Suspenseful and easy to read. Ending was a little disappointing but still enjoyed.
