so-soI wish there was a rank between “pick” and “so-so” because that‘s where this would fall for me. Great writing, interesting characters, but the story didn‘t grab me. This is out in February and you‘ll no doubt see it everywhere, so I‘m excited to see what everyone else thinks!

pickExcellent & heartbreaking. I definitely understand the comparisons to A Little Life and Hearts Invisible Furies, but this definitely has more of a plot (and that‘s not a criticism of those two books, I loved them). 💔❤️

I really liked the story and finished in one sitting; however, I wanted her to dive deeper into the racial issues and the ending was a little too tied in a bow, even though she tried hard for it NOT to be. That probably doesn‘t make sense if you haven‘t read it! But the writing was really strong! 🤷🏼♀️
