An update on my home library! I'm in love 😍
(I still need to shuffle some books around, get them more in alphabetical order for my own sanity. Right now I've got things grouped by genre and tried to keep each author grouped together within the genre, but it was slow going getting everything out of boxes so there's room for improvement 😆)

After months of cutting, affixing, sanding, priming, and painting (and then going on a family trip to Utah... and then deciding to paint the trim to match the baseboards), we're finally finished with our #homelibrary project. Yay!!
Now, on to the fun part - bringing aaaallllll the books back and deciding where everything is going to go...

This is what 15 years of marriage looks like in book form.
97% of the books are mine. My husband claims... maybe about a total of 40. We haven't counted them 😳
Some came into the wedded bliss chapter with me; the majority of them have been acquired since.
As I shared at the beginning of the year (for this VERY visually OBVIOUS reason!), I haven't purchased any since January 1st and have been gifted a total of 5.
I regret nothing.

Y‘all. I‘m so excited! My 50th birthday is in April, and the hubs is giving me my gift early… built in bookshelves in our front room, which has always been my “library” room! My book addiction was so out of control, I needed more room! This is the day one progress! I knew you would all appreciate this way more than anyone else in my life 🤣🤣
I got my books back!! I‘m starting to work on my library - I‘ll have four more shelves delivered in November. 🤗 But first I have two questions:
1. How do you cull your books? I don‘t want to admit it, but it probably needs to be done.
2. How would you incorporate this cradle into your library? My Dad made me this one when I was little & I want to find a way to put it in my library.
Insta showed me my new favorite home library this morning and I thought I‘d share it with you all. Isn‘t this THE fantasy!? Definitely adding this room to my imaginary mansion that I live in in all my daydreams. #librarygoals #homelibrary

In the excitement over new shelving units, I failed to share a BEFORE picture of our home library space.
You'll have to pardon the slight mess in the corner, but this room continues to be a bit of a work in progress.
Eventually we'd like to build more custom storage in the closet, but for now, one thing at a time. Extending the shelves to the ceiling is the first order of business.

Gotta wait a little over a month for these, but very excited about what our home library will look like with these new pieces.
Hubby plans to add crown molding and make them look like built-ins; I plan to help with the assembly and fill them with books and LEGO collections. Yay!! 🥳

We moved into our house at the end of Oct. I started putting my library together in mid Nov. Man Cub decided he didn‘t like his area of the basement and we switched in Dec. some time. It‘s now mid April, I‘m hoping to finish putting my library/office together this week. I‘ll let you know how it goes.

After a lot of measuring and stock checking (literally 6 solid months of 🙄) I finally took the plunge & ordered some good old Billy bookcases! I have wanted a library wall (house is small, a wall is the best I could hope for!) for ages so have decided to get rid of an old pine bookcase & dresser to replicate the above set-up. Just hope the reality lives up to the Pinterest photo!
1. There are shelves and books in pretty much every room, including closets. Roughly 2,500 books at the moment. These are just a few of them.

Taking this opportunity of spending so many hours at home to get our bookshelves in order! 😱 Pulling old ones and adding purchases made over the last year and a half. The shelves are already packed so adding new ones is always impossible until I have the energy to do a big reorganization. I guess I have no reason to put it off any longer! 🤷♀️
My partner and I just moved in to the very first house we've ever owned! So exciting!! We have like no furniture yet but of course I have unpacked a bunch of my books.
I‘m still working on my little home library...sometimes I have to pinch myself! I feel like Belle!
