I love this book. This is the first of the Pendergast novels. A monster goes crazy and starts killing people in a museum. The monster's reveal at the end is one of the best.
Also I've dnfed about 5 books this month and needed a palette cleanser. This book worked perfectly 💚

Pendergast gateway book. I loved this book. It creeped me out. I read it years ago.

I wish this series was more creepy supernatural and less angsty lovelorn Pendergast.

I liked him as a possibly supernatural super hero good guy solving interesting & occasionally archeological related books in an action/adventure.

This particular book is a turtle back editions… a teeny weenie little hardcover LOL LOVE IT!!

ReadingOver50 I agree, I miss the old books where the mystery was the focus. 2y
Twainy @ReadingOver50 I‘m not a fan of the food talk & I really want the badass Pendergast back 😁 2y

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView

1. How about I rank them from most reached for to least?
Thriller (usually some horror elements)
Mystery
Horror (used to be my #1, not much lately)
True crime

2. Relic, The Shining, The Ruins or The Exorcist. I‘ve read a lot of gross or gory books but true creeps came from these 4, maybe because I was alone reading at night in the dark ... BOO!

Thank you @The_Penniless_Author 🤗

@Butterfinger Here is the order of the Pendergast novels. I have Relic, a gift from @MaleficentBookDragon for a Litsy swap, which I‘ve yet to read. So I am reading them out of order, reading Two Graves for #Brazil. It‘d probably be a very good idea to read them in order because there appears to be a lot of back story. I thought it was the first in the series because that‘s how they‘re listed in Two Graves. Oh well. Relic is definitely next.

Butterfinger Thanks Karen. I'll take a screenshot. 4y
MaleficentBookDragon @Butterfinger Personally I think the first three are the best. Relic is one of my favorite books. In this series I also really liked 4y
Crazeedi I read the first three and never continued! And they were good! 4y

Day 11 of #20series20days #top20series

This is probably one of my absolute favorite series. The books are so engrossing, that although usually 400-500 pages, they fly by. Agent Aloysius Pendergast of the FBI is unlike any FBI agent you‘ve ever come across. He is mysterious, complex and enigmatic with an interesting family dynamic.

BookwormAHN I love this series 💙 4y

Nute I am discovering so many books that I didn‘t know where parts of series thanks to the wonderful challenge from @Andrew65 ! I have wanted to read Relic for a very long time! (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @Nute It has been great in expanding everyone‘s knowledge of books and series out there. Been great to see all the posts but added so many series to my TBR. At some point in the future I intend doing #Top20Standalones 4y
Andrew65 @Nute Relic wasn‘t quite what I expected and need to get back to this series. 4y
Mollyanna @Nute and @Andrew65 Relic is a bit different than the others in the series. We, the readers, don‘t quite know who the main guy is. Is it Pendergast or d‘Acosta? Reliquary is really where we start learning about Pendergast. 4y
Mollyanna @Nute I agree! I have found so many new series and realized that certain books were part of a series. I thoroughly enjoyed this, but my TBR has expanded to exploding levels 😫. 4y

#TBRChallenge #AudioBook #ABookThats
This was a delightfully dark and daring romp through the New York Museum of Natural History. Pendergast does somewhat steal the show with his steely confidence and southern charms, but Margo, Frock and Smithback hold there own.
The monster was a constant looming threat and it never really felt like we were safe from its influence, which really helped to hold a constant sense of suspense.
⬇️

TCLinrow The writing style reminded me a lot of Michael Crichton who is one of my favourite authors, which is a definitely a huge plus. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat. 4y

Bk14 of March is done. I know I should be reading off my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom for the #MarchUnshelfing #challenge, but I couldn‘t resist reading the 1st page of this and then I got hooked. It‘s now 7am Saturday and I haven‘t been to sleep yet.It was so worth it,this was fabulous. Horrible murders start happening in NY Museum Of Natural History which seem to be done by something part animal. Agent Pendergast & Curator Margo Green are on the hunt.

This was my first introduction to the writing duo of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. While I loved the genre of mystery and aspects of something more out there, I wasn‘t too impressed with this book. Don‘t get me wrong, it pulled me in enough to ensure that I would go in to read every book that they‘ve written. But my thoughts were that in certain parts of the book it felt as if the idea of the characters hadn‘t gelled. Who was the hero?

I loved this book. I can see why it‘s compared to Jurassic Park. It does have that kind of feel to it, but in a different way. I haven‘t seen the movie based on it so I can‘t say how it compares. All I know is that I can‘t wait to read more of the Pendergast series.

ChristieWitch Relic was one my favorite movies growing up. I've never read the book but it's been on my tbr forever lol 6y
LiterarySloth @ChristySevern it‘s good! There is a character in it that they don‘t include in the movie. I don‘t know why. He‘s a great character. I‘m really curious how they did the movie without him. 6y
ChristieWitch @LiterarySloth it usually happens that way, unfortunately lol given how old the movie is now I'm betting it doesn't follow the book very well, but sometimes that's okay 😏 6y
LiterarySloth @ChristySevern I‘m planning on watching it soon. Maybe on a day where I need to crochet instead of read. 6y
