Bk7 of my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is a crime noir novel set in 1950s Brooklyn, it follows a PI that‘s trying to solve the murder of his mentor & boss. His one big obstacle is he has Tourette‘s Syndrome which can be a problem when you‘re trying to be inconspicuous. There‘s a recent Ed Norton movie based on this, but I‘ve heard it‘s not great, hopefully the book is better🤞

Bk6 of my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is another Inspector Morse novel. Unfortunately my library doesn‘t have the next in the series, is it just mine that have only certain books in a series? Every set of crime novels I‘ve looked at so far has books missing from their order, they‘ll have bk1 then Bk4 & bk7 or maybe it‘s Bk2 without the 1st. Very annoying!🙄

Leftcoastzen That‘s so frustrating.I seem to remember a time when if books went missing from a series, the library used to be very proactive in replacing them. But that was before funds had to go to computers and other media.Maybe some veteran librarians could enlighten us. 5y
ravenlee I have had this problem with the MG series my daughter reads, and the librarians said that as books are damaged/go missing they just don‘t replace them, and that they don‘t buy books more than a year or two old. But these books are obviously in high demand! I just don‘t understand. 5y
Lizpixie @Leftcoastzen @ravenlee these books are definitely more than a year or two old, but they are very popular so you‘d think they would replace them. Like the copy of Relic that I‘m currently reading was written in 1987 but the copy is obviously only a year old or less. Doesn‘t make sense🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y

Bk5 in my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is another 1st in a series. DI Ben Kitto is burnt out after 10 years on London‘s Murder squad. Persuaded to take a leave of absence rather than resign, he returns home to the tiny Scilly island of Bryher to work in his uncles boatyard. But his convalescence takes a backseat when the body of a teenager is found on the beach at Hell Bay. Her killer is still on the island after a two day storm stops all ferries.

MyNamesParadise I always love British crime thrillers (usually more than American ones) and it‘s not published in the US yet. Sometimes I wish I lived in Britain! 5y

Bk4 in my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is the 1st book in the Giordano Bruno series. I ran across his name while reading A Discovery Of Witches, when I saw an historical mystery series with him as the MC, I couldn‘t resist. He was a monk, poet & scientist in the 16th century where his belief that the earth orbited the sun had him branded a witch & heretic by the inquisition. In real life he was burned at the stake,in this he becomes a spy for Elizabeth I.

JazzFeathers Cool! I've always been fascinated by Giordano Bruno. He was a remarkable man. Need to find this series! 5y
MadDustKitties I enjoyed this book. I still have to read the rest of the series, thank you for reminding me about it. 5y
Suet624 You just provided a whole bunch of fascinating information right there. 5y

Bk3 of my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is the 3rd in the Inspector Morse series. Unfortunately it‘s an ugly Large Print book but at least I won‘t have any problems reading it😆Quinn, a deaf man who lip reads, is hired by the Chemistry don at Oxford against opposition. When he‘s found murdered in his rooms, Morse & Lewis have enough suspects to keep them busy for awhile with attractive colleagues, porn tickets, wealthy arabs & leaked exam papers

Crazeedi I need to read these books 5y

Bk2 of my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is the 1st Inspector Wexford novel from Rendell. I‘ve read a few of her stand-alones(The Scolds Bridle was brilliant)I somehow have an omnibus of the last 3 Wexford stories but have none of the rest in my shelves🤔Margaret Parsons is unremarkable, until she‘s found strangled in the woods. Inspector Wexford has no motive for her death, until he finds her stash of rare books, all inscribed by her secret lover, Doon.

MrsMalaprop Happy reading Liz. Hope you‘re doing ok 😊. 5y
Crazeedi I've read several of this series, totally enjoyed, I need to pick up where I left off. 5y

Bk1 of my #QuarantineLibraryHaul is the 1st book in the Pendergast series by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child.I‘ve always meant to read this but never got around to it,guess this is a good time to catch up on old thriller/mystery series while the world stops. Our government is apparently announcing a shutdown for at least 2weeks tonight. The hubby went to the shops today & said they‘re deserted & most make you sanitise you‘re hands before entering😷

MadDustKitties I enjoyed The Relic. 🤓 5y
