mcctrish All of a sudden the randomness has a Lark Rise vibe #iykyk 3d

BarkingMadRead @mcctrish it really does 🤣 3d
willaful Man, what a depressing chapter. I hope Esther is going to get some help but I kind of doubt it. :-\ 3d
BarkingMadRead @willaful I‘m worried that she will think she doesn‘t need it 3d
Deblovestoread Mrs. Kravitz! 3d
Clare-Dragonfly @BarkingMadRead Same! Or that the shrink will be terrible… 3d
Bookwormjillk I‘m with you all hoping she gets the help she needs. 3d
tpixie @Deblovestoread 😝 @BarkingMadRead Mrs Kravitz!!! 🧙 I LOVED Bewitched 3d
willaful @Clare-Dragonfly I think it's almost guaranteed that the shrink will be terrible. 😞 3d
Deblovestoread I loved Bewitched, too! @tpixie I was glad the family doc didn‘t just throw more pills at her. Hopefully her referral is a good one! 2d
dabbe Esther has never had anything below an “A“ in her life. She wins contests, too. Not getting into the summer class was her complete undoing. I'm almost scared now to read more.

BTW, do they live in a house in Boston? If so, why do the mom and Esther share the same bedroom? Or am I wrong in that assumption?
2d
TheAromaofBooks Waaaaaayy too casual about eating raw hamburger + raw egg 😂 2d
ElizaMarie Buddy !!! #RunForYourLifeNurse !! Hopefully he doesn't seduce that poor nurse who he “falls in love“ with. I mean. poor girl to be sucked into him! I am #proud Ester put her foot down with that one! 2d
julieclair @mcctrish Maybe the Lark Rose vibe was why Esther got on my last nerve in this chapter! 😂. But then I reached the end of the chapter and felt guilty about her getting on my nerves. She does need someone who can help her. I do hope the psychiatrist turns out to be a good one. But I'm fearful 10h

I watched this movie last week (Tom Hanks, #iykyk) & cried as hard as I've cried at a movie in some time. I didn't know it was based on a graphic novel until the credits rolled, & I immediately ordered it. The premise is brilliant - the "camera" stays in one place for the entirety, as we jump back & forth through time, often with multiple years in different, overlapping panes on the same page. Almost no words. So good.

Mehso-so

Well… that was something. I have no idea how it landed on my book shelf (but a receipt tucked inside showed that I bought it in 2015).
Definitely felt like a product of its time (the 90s) and maybe had I read it 20 years ago I‘d have been more into it.
It was just ‘meh‘ for me BUT I do get where he was going which …

Didn't get anywhere the predicted amounts, right here at least #iykyk

Shoveling done and onto coffee and book time ☺️☕️📖

dabbe It's still so beautiful--even though you had to do some hard work. 🩶🤍🖤 1mo
marleed You are lucky - we got the high-end predicted. It‘s pretty but maybe a bit too cute for all the danger it‘s brought to the roads. 1mo
TheBookgeekFrau @dabbe It's like a powdered sugar coating on the world 😊 Luckily, it was cold enough that the snow wasn't wet and heavy so the work was easy compared to other times! 1mo

TheBookgeekFrau @marleed Yeah, I've seen some horror stories on the news about travel 😔 Hopefully you get to stay home with a good book🙏🏼 1mo
DogMomIrene You are a very neat shoveler! 1mo
TheBookgeekFrau @DogMomIrene 😂 Thank you! I've been conditioned by 33 years of marriage to a snow freak who is particular in the ways of snow shoveling 🤣🤣 Plus, there wasn't a whole lot so it made it easy to be neat! 1mo
DogMomIrene @TheBookgeekFrau 😂😂😂 I‘m living with snow again after years in Arizona, so I‘ve been honing my technique. Snow that‘s not too wet is definitely my preference. But it‘s still a good workout! 1mo
TheBookgeekFrau @DogMomIrene The technique for early winter is to remove the snow far away from the driveway leaving room for future piles. And as much as I want to roll my eyes at my husband, I have to admit he's right 😂 1mo
DogMomIrene @TheBookgeekFrau Oh wow! You definitely get more snow than we do if you‘re having to plan that far in advance. I totally see how that removal style would be necessary, even if a pain in the early winter. 1mo
TheBookgeekFrau @DogMomIrene Nah, we don't get a lot. It's just his one fuss-pot area as compared to my dozen so I can indulge him 🤣 1mo

AllDebooks I just got triggered by reading reposed in the intro! Too much of that in Udolpho 2mo
mcctrish I have to say I share Laura‘s decor style, every summer I decorated the inside of outhouse at the cottage with pictures from magazines my aunt got from her friend who worked for Air Canada. Every summer had a theme- once it was food, once flowers, once each wall a different colour. The pig running away mid kill made me laugh out loud 2mo
rubyslippersreads @mcctrish I‘m glad I‘m not the only one. 2mo
Bklover I was feeling quite lazy and spoiled as I ate my caramel/cheese popcorn mix while reading about the children sucking on pigs toes. Raw pigs toes. 🤨 2mo
Bookwormjillk @Bklover caramel and cheese is the best popcorn mix 2mo
Bklover @Bookwormjillk Yes it is! I made myself half sick by eating waaay too much of it! 2mo
mcctrish @Bklover I laughed out loud even louder at your comment 2mo
Bklover @mcctrish ❤️😉 2mo
dabbe And they're all nice to the pigs and love them and pet them and then slaughter them! #wtf? #charlotteswebtrigger There may be no crying so far in this one, but I was crying! Ooh, look, bacon! #twisted 2mo
JacqMac I read this in my bed when I couldn‘t sleep. And now I‘m so hungry. lol 2mo
Cuilin @dabbe 😢 for 🐖 2mo
julieclair I love how they all seem happy, despite not being wealthy. And the pigs definitely have a great life… until they don‘t. 🐷😱😢 2mo

rubyslippersreads @Bklover The “shoes” were revolting. 🤢 2mo
rubyslippersreads @dabbe My grandfather made the mistake of having a pet chicken as a little boy. After an unfortunate incident (dinner), he never ate chicken his whole life. 😢 2mo

#10 in the Chief Inspector Gamache series had me laughing like the others but also crying hard. Crying hard over a duck at that (#iykyk)! The main plot would have seemed inconceivable to me 10 years ago. However, after seeing blatant corruption in the highest levels of our government embraced in the real world, it feels sadly plausible. Another great read by Penny—entertainment with heart that makes you think. 👩‍🍳💋

Celebrating #FoodandLit #Canada month with a chip truck poutine. I mean, really, any excuse for a chip truck poutine is a good one. #iykyk

Tagging my last excellent #CanLit read if anyone is looking for recommendations!

Traci1 Omg I love poutine. Used to live in Vermont about a mile from the Canadian border, and I can honestly say the only thing I miss about the 4 years we lived there is the poutine. 3mo
BarbaraBB I have the book stacked already. Probably you‘re responsible for that! 3mo
rabbitprincess That looks like a good poutine 😋 3mo
