I'm going for a long weekend to NYC soon and would like to visit a bookstore. As many times as I have been to NYC, I've only been to the Strand, so I welcome some input. What are your favorite NYC bookstores?

Apparently, a long time ago, I started this on the Kindle, but I have no recollection of that, so I am starting over for #ChildrensClassicRead2024.
@TheBookHippie
Maus was my favorite read of April. #2024Bracket @CSeydel
These are all the wonderful things I acquired during the #HTXBookCrawl24 (except for a few presents for my niece, nephews and husband). I got fiction and nonfiction with a wide range of genres. I really need to spend more time reading now to make space on my bookshelves.
My 18th and final stop on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to the Blue Willow, which I've only been to once before. It was actually busy, but the staff still took the time to greet me and help me find something for a couple of 5 year olds I will be seeing in two weeks. Can't believe I managed to make it to all bookstores on the book crawl. I'll share a pic of all my loot soon.
My 17th store on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to The Houston Book Warehouse. I had heard of this store but had never visited before. I brought in some books to sell and walked out with just as many. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but this place is huge.
My 16th stop on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to The Book Attic. This is a used bookstore and was a chaotic maze of books on shelves, on the floor, and in paper bags. I think this bookstore must have just moved, because it was in desperate need of organization.
My 15th stop on #HTXBookCrawl24 was Village Books. This was a cute small store with book art that local kids created.
My 14th stop on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to Copperfield Books, which actually ended up being one of my favorite stops. It not only housed new and used books but also had a room specifically devoted to bookish novelty gifts.
My 13th stop of the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to The Book Readers Venue. It was a very small establishment, but the owner was so knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, I got to chat with a local author whose romance novella I purchased.
My 12th independent bookstore visit on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was to Candescent Books, which is a pop-up bookstore that was set-up at Native Coffee in downtown Houston. The owner not only has a good amount of popular books available, but also homemade candles. The historical fiction candle was my favorite, even though that is not my favorite book genre. This a great spot to hang with friends or just sit with a good book.
I finished up my #HTXBookCrawl24 yesterday during independent bookstore day. Where I got lots of free swag. The cookies were my favorite 😍. Hope y'all got out and supported your local indies yesterday!
My 11th stop on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was a bookstore in Richmond that just opened a couple of months ago called LIT Bookbar. Nothing like an adult beverage surrounded by books. This will definitely be going up there as one of my favorites.
While on a Louisiana road trip, I stopped at The Conundrum bookstore in St. Francisville. It had a perfect reading area and friendly atmosphere. #independentbookstore
My husband and I started our anniversary weekend by doing some ghost hunting at Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana. It is a beautiful, peaceful place, but I did not get much sleep. 👻
My 8th independent bookstore visit for the #HTXBookCrawl24 was the pictured Baskets, Books & Art. It had a nice selection of poetry and international reads and features an art gallery on the 2nd floor.
My 7th independent bookstore visit for the #HTXBookCrawl24 was CLASS books. Another fun stop where I enjoyed a lovely conversation. This whole experience so far is really helping me explore so many different communities of Houston.
The 6th independent bookstore I visited on the #HTXBookCrawl24 was Gulf Coast Cosmos Comics. It is the only comic store participating in the bookstore crawl and is literally just next door to Kindred Stories. The owner was so friendly. Plus, the store has different rooms to explore that includes the featured entertainment room.
My 5th and final completed book of the 24-hour readathon. I definitely am comfy/cozy right now, so I should get some sleep. It's been a great #readathon. I'm glad to finally read some books that have been on my TBR pile for a long time. #deweysreadathon @DeweysReadathon
Completed my 4th read of the #readathon. This was amazing, and I'm glad I finally picked it up. I think I have to read the 2nd one now too. #deweysreadathon @DeweysReadathon
My 5th independent bookstore visit of #HTXBookCrawl24 was to Kindred Stories. This store was beautiful and had a stunning backyard area as well.
This is my 3rd completed book of the #readathon. I liked it and recommend it. #deweysreadathon @DeweysReadathon
Took some time during the readathon (continued to audiobook even while out and about) to visit more independent bookstores in the Houston Bookstore crawl. LIT Java was my 4th stop on the crawl this month and isn't officially opening until the end of the month but wanted to open the doors for the crawl.
#HTXBookCrawl24
Finished book #2 of the #readathon. I've been making my way through Sue Grafton's series and making good progress. I liked "M" more than this one. #deweysreadathon @DeweysReadathon
Started the #readathon with a light, fun read while I drank some strong coffee.

Starting the 24-hour readathon. Coffee is brewed and my book pile is ready to go! https://greatmorrisonmigration.wordpress.com/2024/04/13/deweys-24-hour-readathon...

I think I have quite a few things to be grateful this week:
1. Took a mental health day off of work to take a solo trip out of Houston
2. Explored bluebonnets in Ennis
3. Experienced the total solar eclipse
4. HTX bookstore crawl
5. Preparations for 24 hour readathon

My 3rd indie bookstore visit of the #HTXBookCrawl24 was a cute place called Buy The Book in the Woodlands. I'm really enjoying checking out the bookstores, but I may be broke by the end of the month.
I didn't even know this bookstore existed until I got the #HTXBookCrawl24 list. This place is amazing! At least 8 different rooms. They havr bargain books and also a 1st edition Frankenstein, which is slightly more 😉. Two bookstores down and quite a few to go.
Started the #HTXBookCrawl24 by visiting Kaboom. Loved the owners and their puppy! Soooo many books. I will have to go back there when I have a lot more time....like 12 hours. Did walk out with "The Messiah of Stockholm". It took a lot of self-control to not buy a lot more, but I have many more stores to go to this month.
Started this book club read today and am enjoying it so far. If anyone is interested in discussing Mexican Gothic, please feel free to join our free virtual book club. RSVP here: https://meetu.ps/e/MW6qT/zxXbQ/i
Finally finished my March #Roll100 read #79. I actually thought this was going to be a romance. It was NOT. The very first scene was a gruesome crime scene. Clearly, I didn't read the description on the back of the book. That was unexpected, but I enjoyed it anyway.
@PuddleJumper
I enjoyed this book. I'm a little tempted to move to a Swiss village with the smell of fresh air, surrounded by flowers and goats and no technology. I'll be daydreaming about that while I'm stuck in front of my computer for too many hours tomorrow. #childrensclassicread2024 @TheBookHippie
Took a mental health day on Friday and decided to read this book over my long weekend. This book has been on my kids' lit bookshelf for years, but I never read it. Watched the Shirley Temple movie a million times as a kid though. #ChildrensClassicRead2024
@TheBookHippie
"Doing fewer things is the key to producing good work." How on earth can I get my boss and my boss' boss to read this book? This is clearly not a concept they are familiar with.
I do enjoy Jane Harper's Australian outback thrillers. They never end the way I think they will. #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville
Started reading this book this morning. I really want to keep reading instead of getting to work, as it has been pretty awful lately, but alas, I have a bunch of meetings that are starting soon. Not enough coffee in the world for the day I'm about to have.
#AuthorAMonth
@Soubhiville
Can't believe it is March already! I read 9 books in February, and the tagged book was my favorite read of the month. However, the scientific nonfiction "Outlive" comes in a close 2nd.
#2024Bracket
@CSeydel
I'm taking a long weekend, with Monday off, for self care reasons and planning to finish the tagged book for #Roll100 #76. I've never read it and have been intrigued lately when I saw some FB friends complaining about this being inappropriate for their kids to read in school. I'm 1/3 into it, and it seems fine for school reading to me. What am I missing?

@PuddleJumper
I am actually surprised that Britney's memoir was my favorite read of January, but it was definitely better than I had anticipated by a lot. #2024Bracket
@CSeydel
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to read Mansfield Park like I had planned, but at least I can read Sanditon for #AuthorAMonth
@Soubhiville
Having some coffee/reading time this morning and hoping to finish this book - #83 for #Roll100. This one has been on my shelf for more than 10 years.
@PuddleJumper
Got all my books added in StoryGraph for this next year's #Roll100. Can't wait to see what numbers come up for January. I hope to have a strong start.
@PuddleJumper
Merry Christmas, All!!! 🎄 A big thank you to all the @LitsyLove people for all the holiday warm wishes. ❤️❤️❤️

I am very happy I finally read Dracula, as it was the only book I read in October that I loved that I hadn't read already. We shall see what happens in November and December. #2023ReadingBracket
I don't know that my points are that great compared to what I have been seeing out there (my points totaled 37,301), but this month I read twice as many books as I normally do - finishing up 21 books, which is absolutely crazy, since I didn't take one day off of work this month. Plus, I completed some Octobery things to do. This has been such a nice month!

Happy Halloween! Ready and waiting for some trick or treaters. #OctoberBucketList
#scarathlon #spookyghostclub @Clwojick
I'm so happy that I finally read this book. It was wonderful and the perfect read for #scarathlon! Plus, I got to check off a October bucket list item by reading out by my pool this weekend while it was simply beautiful out. Now it is just cold and gloomy.
