I finished up my #HTXBookCrawl24 yesterday during independent bookstore day. Where I got lots of free swag. The cookies were my favorite 😍. Hope y'all got out and supported your local indies yesterday!

Independent Bookstore Day!!! Visited 7 book stores (and that‘s not even all of the indies in ATX - we are a great city for book lovers) - bought WAY too many books (no regrets)… just a great day all around!
Thanks @Soubhiville for the great idea and the trip planning 😘
Bookhaul to follow 📚😄 #independentbookstoreday
Today on my IG feed…. How could I not share in case anyone else has a similar response. 😘
Didn‘t get out to any local indie bookstores today, sadly… but I‘m loving this tweet (and feeling called out lol)
#whereisthelie #independentbookstoreday
☑️ browsed in a bookstore for the first time in over a year
☑️ checked out a NEW bookstore in town that was sorely needed after one shuttered a few years ago
☑️ bought books on Independent Bookstore Day
Doesn‘t get any better! ☺️☺️☺️
Nice to see so much support! Hope it continues.
They received 25,000 online orders over the weekend, causing a website crash. Normally get 300 orders a day. One woman bought 197 books. A dozen customers asked the Strand to design their home libraries.

Local independent bookstores need our help more than ever right now.
Horizon Books in Seattle has quarantine mystery bundles. $25 (plus tax and shipping) for 5 books.
I just ordered my bundle hopefully filled with fantasy, urban fantasy, & sci-fi. 😀

I have spent the last week and a half with my mom. We spent part of the time at her house and then the rest at my house. We both love to read, so we were able to visit two independent bookstores. First, we spent time at The Book Loft in Columbus, OH. 32 rooms of books!! Next, we checked out Trust Books in Akron, OH. It operates on trust!! I loved it so much. We were so happy to share our love of books. We did go to Barnes and Noble too.
#IndieBookstoreDay : AND the pinnacle of my weekend has to be this giant stack of ARCs I collected (mostly free, some from last year, some still yet to be released). It‘s an absolutely daunting stack and yet I couldn‘t be happier to have them 😄
#IndieBookstoreDay: Here are a couple discounted books I picked up by local Connecticut authors, both of which I was persuaded to pick up after a great conversation with the shop owner! The Jane Mount theme continued with the pack of notebooks I simply had to have.
Finally got my act together @BarbaraBB 🤗 Here is PART of my #bookhaul from #IndieBookstoreDay !! The books I bought, the amazing Jane Mount bag was FREE! I almost can‘t bring myself to use the tote, it‘s so beautiful.
Checked off 6 today - and failed miserably with my goal of only purchasing one book per store!
Happy Independent Bookstore Day! 📚 Stopped by my neighborhood bookstore today to celebrate. Christopher‘s Books in Potrero Hill has been around since 1991. The 90s don‘t seem that long ago for me, but then I remind myself we are in 2019!! Where has the time gone? Hope you guys are reading something wonderful today! 😊
#indepedentbookstoreday
I had a stupidly fun time driving around the state to Independent Bookstores for the second year, collecting stamps (and a few more books than I‘d budgeted for) in order to be eligible for grand bookish prizes 😄
Can‘t think of a better way to spend #IndieBookstoreDay !!! Hope everyone else got to do something special— even reading a book that you may have previously acquired from one of your favorite local shops! 💕
Happy #independentbookstoreday, fellow Littens!
The hubby and I are having a linner (late lunch/early dinner) of yummy, yummy salt & pepper fish with jalapeño ponzu dipping sauce, accompanied by tasty egg flour soup AND scrumptious sushi 😍😍😍
After that, we are hitting our favorite indie here in Spokane - Auntie's Bookstore! - before grabbing some coffee for dessert. It's a wonderful day to be a book nerd! 😊💜📚
Some of the bookmarks for Independent Bookstore Day. You can see all of the merchandise available at http://www.indiebookstoreday.com/.
My souvenirs from Portland or, more accurately, from Powell's City of Books. ?
The bigfoot magnet says, "I've got nothing to prove to you people." It was an impulse buy at the register ?
The Naruto book is for my son, I've already read "Book Love," and can't wait to get into "The Heart's Invisible Furies."
My nanny job is taking me to Portland this week, so guess where our first outing was?
Went with a friend to The Book Barn in Niantic, CT. Stopped at Store 4 for a browse and a visit with two of the "barn cats." This is Thyme (on the left) and Rosemary. No word on the possible whereabouts of Parsley or Sage. ?
Road trip to Denton, Texas. Went to Recycled Reads, which is located in the old opera house. Had heard about it, but wow! What a great store. Sooooo many books! Every topic you could think of had a section. Uneven floors, nooks and crannies galore. Smelled like heaven. Four stories of bookish delights. Stopped for coffee down the street and found Bookish Coffee. Perfect day ❤️📚😊☕️
I know it can be hard to “pay more” but those of us who have indies , spring for it now and then.I want to have bookstores in our towns. It‘s hard to have story time, a writers workshop,or an author event on Amazon.
Philly peeps! Another indie is opening today! This one is in my neck of the woods! Check out A Novel Idea on East Passyunk beginning at 11 a.m. today! Soft opening (Sat./Sun.) for the month of Dec., open 6 days a week beginning in Jan.
Still re-living my time at City Lights Bookstore. This was on the wall heading up to the poetry room.
Can't visit San Francisco without stopping in one of the best indie bookstores. You can see the little girl I nanny taking my picture in the reflection! And, yes, I'm "working."
I have a $50 gift card to RJ Julia Bookstore in Madison, Connecticut, and I'm not afraid to use it. I'm going in ...
I have been very absent from Litsy this month as I've been traveling for work. I was in Portland, OR and although I had little free time, I did manage to visit Powell's! Amazing place, I wish I had had the time to explore it properly.
Today I decided to try a blind date book (or in this case a mystery mystery) from the charming Portland bookstore, ‘Another Read Through‘ — looks like this will be a fun read about a cleaning woman turned sleuth. 📖 🤗 #blinddate #indiebookstore
Day 2 of @bookriot‘s #riotgrams and here‘s the side mural at @bookbardenver, one of our fabulous Colorado indies!
Bay Area Littens -
@Saknicole and I are visiting San Francisco with our mom for a long weekend and would appreciate any recommendations for good bookstores or other bookish places to visit while we are in the area. We will actually be staying at an Airbnb in Oakland so any places in that area would also be great.
Well aware of City Lights Bookstore already, and it‘s definitely on the list :)
The act of going to a physical bookstore or library is a joy separate from reading. The look, smell and feel of books, with the promise of their worlds and all humanity has to offer, is pure magic. The hope and anticipation I feel when surrounded by books is akin to falling in love. ✨

Look at the bag my aunt & uncle sent me! They live near Powell's books and wanted to get me something 😂 I've never been, but I hope I get to go someday.
Somewhere near you, there may be a similar bookstore that is close to closing their doors. You know what you should do. ❤️

You can take the girl out of the Pacific Northwest, but you can't take the Powell's Books out of the girl... or something like that! 🤣 Powell's Books in Portland, OR will always be my favorite bookstore. 💙📚☔️🌹
I borrowed some random shots from online, although I do own the book bag.
In December I went to The Strand in NYC. A little over six months later, I hit Powell‘s on the other end of the U.S. I won‘t deny that this spot was a huge motivation for me to take a business trip to Portland. 📚 🤓😍
Any #Littens in the #Seattle area? What's your favorite bookstore? I'll be in the area in about a week and would love to support some local shops while I'm there :)
Is it really a vacation if you don‘t visit the local bookstore?? Got to visit my favorite place: Bookbug in Kalamazoo, Michigan 🤩😍
Hmm, my book smells like new book, but I‘ll probably spill something on it.
What‘s your book smell like?
Book haul! Visited five awesome indies in Vermont, and had an amazing time exploring these spaces. I think my favorite was Bridgeside in Waterbury, which has a highly curated collection that is extremely browsable. Great displays, shelf talkers, the whole shebang. For a bonus, Bridgeside has a small store located in a shopping plaza near Ben and Jerry's that is adorable and has a great selection as well.
Top 2 are my husband's, rest are mine. 😂
The spoils are finally HERE!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄
I squealed when I saw the package and I can hardly contain my excitement. $25 gift certificates from 20 independent bookstores across CT— my reward for checking off 15 stores from my passport on Indie Bookstore Day in April. 🙌🏻
Well now I know how I‘ll be spending my summer! 📚📚📚
Had to pay my #bookhaul for independent bookstore day! I love the indie bookstores in my area, but Volunteers Bookcafe is my favorite #indiebookstoreday
Happy Independent Bookstore Day!!! 🤓📚📚📚📚📚📚
Did you go out and celebrate?! #independentbookstoreday
My body is TIRED but here in Connecticut we get to continue tomorrow, scavenging across the state to accumulate enough stamps at participating stores to win hundreds in gift cards!
