Well, I culled over 100 books off my shelf (left photo) . . . but then there were all these holes on my shelves. 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I *had* to fill at least some of the holes (right photo). Right? 😆

#booknerdproblems

Suet624 Oh gosh. This epitomizes my struggle. 2w
TheBookHippie 🤣🎉 my life. 2w
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage The worst part about cleaning out books are the holes they leave, for sure 📚🫤 2w

TheBookgeekFrau This struggle is just so real! 2w
Ruthiella It‘s a never ending see-saw! But look at all those new books! So exciting! 🤩 2w
wanderinglynn @Suet624 @TheBookHippie the struggle is real. 😆 (edited) 2w
wanderinglynn @TheBookgeekFrau it‘s a daily struggle 😉 2w
wanderinglynn @Ruthiella right?! So exciting! 😁 2w
Crazeedi Where did you find the courage?? I have a "few" more books just sent for, and already piles on floor that I don't have room for. I need to do what you've done!! 2w
wanderinglynn @Crazeedi I heard about PangoBooks & thought I‘d sell a few OwlCrate editions. I started with a handful—a few I had read & wasn‘t crazy about & a few that have been on my shelf forever that I finally admitted I was never going to read. Once I started with those, I realized my bookshelf looked better, & so I pulled a few more. Then I sold a few on Pango. And then I pulled a few more. And I really felt better after culling. 2w
dabbe The eternal book struggle. 🤩😂😀 2w
Rome753 I try to periodically go through my books to clear out books that I'll either never read or have read, but don't have much interest in. I usually donate them, or occasionally give to someone who will read them. But I frequently end up buying more. Just bought several today at a book sale going on at a local library. 2w
wanderinglynn @Rome753 🙌🏻 the struggle is real. 2w
Rome753 @wanderinglynn definitely 2w
Hooked_on_books It wouldn‘t make sense to leave gaps. You were only doing what was right. 1w

I brought a huge stack with me for a long weekend in Jersey 🤣 I finished Taste tonight, and I‘m partway through the tagged book, plus Beyond the Wand. I gave a few good options, plus three ARCs I need to read in the next two weeks 🤣 #booknerdproblems

Leftcoastzen You can never bring too many books ! 📚 👏🥰😂 2w
BarkingMadRead @Leftcoastzen my hubs always complains about it, but I feel like you can never be too prepared 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2w

Rebecca | Daphne D Maurier

Crinoline_Laphroaig This is where I lose any sympathy I had for Jan. It doesn't matter Max is a murderer, what's important is HE DIDN'T LOVE REBECCA! She becomes a bit like Rebecca in that she doesn't care about anything except what she wants. I could see her going over the edge in later years and murderibg Max because she thinks he doesn't love her enough. 1mo

BarkingMadRead @Crinoline_Laphroaig that‘s a really good point, it shows just how much she hasn‘t grown up! 1mo
julieclair Whoa! Didn‘t see that one coming! And Jan… she‘s a woman obsessed… it‘s like the knowledge that Max didn‘t love Rebecca is pulling her back from tipping over the edge of madness. 1mo
Clare-Dragonfly Augh… I was afraid she was going to try to protect him. I hope she fails. Will they find the bullet in the ship? It must be somewhere, so it‘s either in her body or in the cottage. But her body has decomposed (I think the cop said it was skeletal), so the bullet could have fallen somewhere they can‘t find it… (edited) 1mo
5feet.of.fury Yeah this is wild, she gets on board with the cover up wayyyy too quickly 1mo
IndoorDame How is having someone else‘s baby the one thing about living with her that tips it over the edge!!!!??? That would seriously NOT be my biggest problem if she were my wife! 1mo
ElizaMarie I had thought Rebecca was a cheater when they talked about these long nights in the cottage. Am I the only one that‘s okay with murder!? Ha. I mean. Not to say murder is super okay, but she did back him into a corner. And —- she was evil and… you are “allowed” to kill the antichrist. Right!? #NoItsJustMe 1mo
Roary47 @IndoorDame I agree, why is this the straw for him. I‘m thinking it was the delivery. @ElizaMarie I‘m with you. More a take down would have been more preferred, but your right he was backed into a corner with pure evil. If he wasn‘t backed into a corner I see that he could have showed her true colors. Exposed her infidelity. Something. 1mo
Ruthiella All I can say is keep reading folks! I have my own ideas about Rebecca‘s motivations. I also noted Jan‘s primary focus now of being truly loved and I think I would have had the same blind obsession at 21 or 22. (edited) 1mo
ElizaMarie @Roary47 Yes. like the question: “Would you go back in time and kill baby Hitler?“ I am guessing, yes.

But I agree. If she wasn't so cocky with her evilness. I am sure Max would have had no choice but to get divorced from her eventually. But, she was slipping up so much, it was going to all come out what type of person she was eventually.

Bookwormjillk This is my 3rd time reading and for some reason I remembered this as the end of the book, but we still have a ways to go. So hard to stop today. 1mo
willaful @IndoorDame It's because the baby would inherit Manderley. It's all about the property. 1mo
willaful @ElizaMarie That seemed implausible to me too. I'm sure Max could've found evidence 1mo
dabbe @Ruthiella Rebecca truly egged him on; it seemed as if she wanted to get as big a rise out of him as she could. As you so eloquently said, #keepreadingfolks! 🤩 1mo
dabbe @willaful Agree 💯. Maxim loves Manderley more than anyone--even the narrator. His de Winter pride is at stake. 1mo

This spicy little novella had me laughing outload while Christmas shopping. Angel and Loca had a side romance in book one, and this is there full blown romance. Funny, smutty, and ultimately heartwarming! #WinterGames #GangstaWrappers @Clwojick @StayCurious @bookwormjillk
*I have no idea about word search points bc I listened to the audio mostly on the move #booknerdproblems

Anyone else somewhat obsessively check the shipping status of book orders? I‘m currently waiting somewhat patiently for 2, including the tagged, to arrive.

This book is effed up!! It has some serious Gone Girl vibes.

Cinfhen Ohhhhh!! Now I‘m curious AF 12mo
janeycanuck @Cinfhen I think it's the closest comp I've read in a long time. 12mo
Cinfhen Do u think it would work well on audio?? 12mo

janeycanuck @Cinfhen Yes, I think so. I just listened to a sample and the narrator was quite good. As long as you like a thriller on audio, you should be good! (edited) 12mo
Cinfhen I saw lots of mixed reviews for the audio so now I‘m back to considering print #BookNerdProblems 12mo

My current library loans, with as many again on hold. I live in terror of them all coming in at once. 😅
Also, I'm close to the max number of renewals on some of these, whereas others are new and popular and likely to be quickly requested by others. A conundrum. 😆

#BookNerdProblems

marleed I feel this beautiful stress! And look you, proving the value in public libraries! …And my game since tax dollars support libraries - I mentally subtract $15 (new book) $10 (old book) from my own tax bill with each book I borrow! In years I owe taxes, it really does help my head make peace with that bill. 13mo
squirrelbrain The struggle is real! 😬 13mo
Hooked_on_books I thought The Memory of Animals wasn‘t out until June. Or maybe that‘s just here. Awesome stack regardless. 13mo

Brother, I'm Dying | Edwidge Danticat
post image
Pickpick

A powerful personal story of author Edwidge Danticat‘s two fathers - her beloved biological father and his older brother, her Uncle Joseph, who raised her while her parents were earning a living in America.
Danticat weaves between the past & present as she shares the lives of her father & brother growing up during Haiti‘s colonial days to the present (2002) as she learns her father is battling a pulmonary disease. Moving and sorrowful.

batsy I need to read this. I really liked 1y

I‘m twitching a little at my 2022 infographic on Goodreads😳😵‍💫🤓 The print version of Schiff‘s book is 544 pages, so it‘s definitely the longest book for me in 2022, but I did listen to it. Debating switching book editions on GR to print to populate the correct number of pages🤞🏼 Also thinking I‘ll just set aside some Readathon time to finish How Not To Die, which is 576 pages. #BookNerdProblems

Amiable Oh my gosh, that would totally irritate me, too! I‘d definitely switch the format to reflect the page count. 1y
