pickI adore this book! Sure I had to stop reading because I saw something moving in the hallway, and sure my fear of “someone in the mirror” was reawakened, and sure the description of “not quite a ghost” turned my stomach, but it‘s inspired by The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (love it!) and the doctors are enRAGing, and Violet learns to stand up for herself. 👻
1: Strangers/All of Us Strangers - my all-time favourite film, which is one of the few I can say, without experiencing that niggling book-blasphemy feeling, is better than the book.
2: Stardust - I loved the book so much, but the film has a totally different vibe, which I preferred.
3: Good Omens - technically not a film in this case, but an incredible series that is far superior to the book, I think.

Jinkies, gang! It‘s time for some spooky mysteries! If you‘ve only ever read E. Nesbit‘s stories for children then you are missing out. She wrote some amazing gothic ghost tales that keep the chills coming. Perfect for a chilly evening by the fire or on a Sunday while the holiday dinner is in the oven.

I think I would need to read this book again more carefully to form an opinion on it. It's an interesting story which leaves the reader with more questions than answers. Its vagueness adds to the creepiness of this unusual ghost story, but I'm not sure how I feel about it...
pickMy third book by the author. His books are creepy, around 200 pgs usually, and easy to read. I also watched the movie with Kevin Bacon. 4⭐
