So, @TheSpineView posted some incredible reading journal pages. I asked her if she wouldn't mind sharing them with me; she graciously said she would. I'm thinking she'll email them to me or mail the sheets--something like that. What does she do instead? She makes me my very own journal. Binds it and all. It arrived today, Lisa, and I am in awe or your creative talents. I adore it, and I can't wait to write in it! Thank you, my friend. 😍💜😘

Netgalley sent me a gift for Christmas. It‘s a reading journal. I don‘t know if I‘m going to use it or not or if I‘m going to keep up with it. I‘m probably not the only person they‘ve sent this reading journal to but I appreciate the fact that they thought about me enough to send me a gift. It‘s a nice gesture.

Had a bit of a slump in April but May got me back on track! I‘ve realised when I‘m in a slump it‘s chunksters that get me out of it - something meaty to really get lost in. What gets you back on track?

Ruthiella I don‘t think I‘ve been in a slump, but when I am anxious, I reread or read Agatha Christie. 1y
Kristin_Reads I always come back to Mary Oliver when I‘m in a slump. 1y

So I have this planner, it‘s a coloring monthly and weekly planner. I love it. I also own the tagged book journal. But I never ever use book journals because I will never look back on it. I do enter my finished books in my planner calendar with color pencil colors that reflect the book cover colors and I write me rating. No more than that. It makes me feel successful to see what reading I did each month. ⬇️

Moonprismpower And at the end of the year I‘ll print out my Goodreads 2021 book list and put that in here as well is it weird that I want to say damn it feels good to be a gangsta?😅😂 4y

The bookshelf shuffle has been accomplished! That gold notebook is my 2021 reading journal. Or is it? 🤔

I don‘t have the boxes for the racing Presidents bobbleheads, so I figured they wouldn‘t mind hanging out on the history shelf.

The new shelf is the wrong color (apparently they don‘t make this model in brown anymore?), but it‘s okay. That shelf is mostly pictures with vexing reflections that make my head explode trying to avoid.

#shelfie

Ruthiella I think it‘s totally appropriate to keep the presidents on the history shelf. 😀 So irksome when IKEA discontinues colors and/or models! I have an Expedit shelving unit which they no longer offer so if I ever need to expand...😢 4y
kspenmoll Same happened to us with IKEA. But we have had our shelves groaning with books but still strong after 31 years!!!! 4y

Recently, I decided to post on my blog again after abandoning it for more than a year. The blog is specifically designed to share my love of reading by writing reviews, posting some memorable quotes, or discussing book-related topics. It's kind of my online reading journal where I basically talk about books in writing. There's not much to see right now, but I intend to write more posts later. So, I'd be really glad if you could check it out! 😉

Does anyone else keep a journal similar to this? I‘ve been just using a notebook, but this one looks really cool!! 📝

CocoReads I just bought this one but I mostly just use a notebook. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @CocoReads I may sit down with it tomorrow since it‘s January and catch it up!! 6y

CocoReads @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks good idea! I‘ve only read 4 or 5 books so far-now is a good time to catch up! 6y
Judybskt I was gifted this exact one. Love it! 6y
RainyDayReading This is the same one I‘ve been using! 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Tashaxlynn 🙌🏻 I got it on Amazon! 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @RainyDayReading yay!! I was just wondering if it was too busy... 6y
RainyDayReading @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Hmm I guess it depends on what it is you want to be tracking while you read. For example I like that it gives me the option to mark whether it was a book I borrowed or a book I owned. But if you just want to keep track of what you read and your review then it may be a bit much. 6y
RainyDayReading @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks If you want try Etsy. There are lots of shops that sell downloads of pages to track your reading. They‘re like 3 to 10 bucks (depending on the bundle you get) and it‘s a downloadable file you can print as many times as you want. Just hole punch the pages and throw them in a binder. Might be worth looking into so you can find exactly what you want. 6y
mrp27 Looks nice! I love book journals but I always end up going to a plain old spiral bound notebook. I need the space and extra pages. (edited) 6y
tracey38 I have a book planner that I am trying out this year. I don't have it exactly figured out yet what I want to do with it, but I am keeping track of the books I start and finish. 6y
TheBookKeepers I got a planner in Dec Owl Crate box and love it!! My first time using a reading planner and now I‘m addicted and will always have one! 6y
TheNerdyProfessor I bought a Moleskin book planner. It's really cute and my first book journal.. I don't know how I lived without one! 6y

@GingerAntics okay so it's a little bit hard to see so small but here's what I do: I have a template that I taped inside a regular journal as the bookcase. then I tentatively write down the books that I'm going to be reading for that month in pen. Once I finish the book I use Goodreads for the date & the pages and color in the book on the shelf. I then put a tick mark down below for the genre of the book falls under. 😁

GingerAntics You read all of those books just in October? You beast!!! You book reading beast!!! 6y
BeansPage @GingerAntics lmao I held a Goosebumps reading challenge for the month of October. I read all 62 original Goosebumps books in the 31 days of October. Plus a few more books 😉 6y
GingerAntics I think I saw that template (or an example of it) when I googled for images for my original post. I‘m guessing you use other pages (after that) for notes and quotes from each book. I do rather like that layout. It‘s colourful and fun. Do you do a different one for each month or wait until it‘s filled up? What happens if you start a book one month and finish it in the next? 6y
See All 29 Comments
GingerAntics Oh, see those would be fairly easy to read now. I think those were our standard difficulty in 2nd and 3rd grade. That‘s when we were all reading them, if I remember correctly. 6y
GingerAntics Do you use a large format journal or a notebook? That looks like a nice hard cover book. 6y
BeansPage I can send you the template if you want. I don't take notes on my books unless I'm doing a book club book. But of course you could do just that. Each page opening is a different month and I will use the book until it is completely filled.if I start a book and December and don't finish it until January then I will mark it off of the December page and transfer it to January. The books on the shelf or tentative. 6y
BeansPage @GingerAntics ⬆️⬆️ oh and the journal I'm using is a small journal but it is a hardback with soft felt on the cover. I purchased it years ago at Barnes & Noble. I think it's like a 5 by 7 size maybe? 6y
GingerAntics Okay. I was thinking of getting a composition book with graph paper inside. I write small so I feel like that would allow me to use more of each page for writing notes. I have a hard cover “notes” journal that I originally got for this purpose last week, but the lines don‘t go to the edge of the page, so it would be harder to do the tagging option. 6y
ZeinaHesham This looks really nice !!😍 6y
ZeinaHesham Can you upload another closer picture? 6y
Talewaggingreads @TheReadingMermaid you are crazy organized! 6y

abbielistenstobooks I love my bullet journal so much, but can't get my books into it. I track my reading on Goodreads, and can't bring myself to duplicate the info. I gotta figure out some other way to reflect my books in there! 6y
BeansPage @Talewaggingreads thank you sweetie 🤗 6y
BeansPage @Klou and thank you so much 🤗 6y
BeansPage @abbielistenstobooks I use Goodreads to keep track of what books I have read and what books I have to be read for a quick reference but I use my journal for monthly tracking. I do use Goodreads to help me out with my monthly tracking to keep an eye on how many pages I'm reading etc. And then I use the actual Library Thing app to keep track of the books I have in my library. 6y
abbielistenstobooks That is a lot of organization! Very pretty too :) 6y
BeansPage @abbielistenstobooks thank you sweetie. There is always a method to my madness 🤪🤪🤪 6y

PedanticPastorMartha Can I ask where you found the template? I really want to keep better track of my reading in 2019! I keep starting books and then get distracted by a new book...I think I'm reading about 20 right now lol. This would help me keep on track--have to finish the book so I can fill it in, you know! 😍😉😂 6y
BeansPage @BookBabe thank you sweetie 😘 6y
BeansPage @darklydreaming yes I highly recommend it 👍🏻 6y
BeansPage @PedanticPastorMartha if you want I can send you the template via email. I'm on vacation right now but I can send it to you when I get back. TamaraTheReadingMermaid@yahoo.com 6y

About to start a new reading journal which is always a joy but at the same time a little stressful as the rating system is different from the one in my last journal. That one had categories to rate from 1 to 10 (quality of writing, plot development, pace etc) and this one just has stars from 1 to 5 for overall rating. It's a great journal though - a great size and chunky feeling in the hand!

I have updated my Google Sheet READING LOG with more data capture AND Pivot Tables (I'm sorta in love with Pivot Tables right now). Sheet 1 "Reading Log" you still type in information for each finished book (& new columns have been added!) & Sheet 2 "Pivot Collection" combines certain columns for a closer comparison look. As always the first 2 rows are for example & if you have questions please ask. Link in bio & here's to STATS! ? #tracking

@MyNamesParadise most of the pages inside look like this. There are some pages at the back that list different book lists: Man Booker prize, best of, Pulitzer Prize, etc. It contains places to put down 10 authors you've seen. In between the pages I'm showing there are prompt pages. What's your favorite genre, if you read this book what book would you read after, things like that. I hope this helps.
