Interesting start to a series with elves, orcs and demons. Set mostly in a school where the gifted are taught the arts of summoning and using the demons they are bonded with in battles. There‘s this war looming that the children are being prepared to fight in. I‘m going to read the rest in the series but it‘s not my favorite yet. #SeriesRead2022

Isadora snuggles helped me finish! I found this interesting and fun, but it wasn't until the last third when I decided I would read the next in the series. Maybe I wasn't really connected to the characters until then? I thought the discrimination that the dwarves experience compelling & it's likely that that changed my mind to lead me to decide to read the next book. I want to see what other demons Fletcher summons! #DoubleSpin

A 4th grade student handed me this book today and told me I should read it. I‘m now on chapter 4. He apologized and said his dog ate the cover but he loves the book so much he carries it in backpack all the time now. #readers #fantasy

Man, did I love this book! I really, really did not expect this book to be so damn good! I seen it on sale on my kindle so I bought it and I started reading, and I just couldn't stop reading it! I devoured this book.

Again, I was a fool and bought a book from an Amazon seller that said it was in very good condition. I just don't think this is what qualifies as very good. The cover is real close to falling off.

But, they gave me a refund and said to keep the book. Which I really appreciate but I'm buying a new copy. I'm really enjoying this book on my kindle so I'd like to have a nice copy of it for my shelves. Hopefully this new one is actually new.

Haiden turned 12 (and the husband turned 35) on the 26th. We went to see Jurassic Park and I was THRILLED to see a book I enjoyed has been turned into a movie. Then saw the trailer and almost peed my pants because it scared me so bad. Yesterday Haiden and I went on a mom and son date to the bookstore and then to the pet store to purchase snails and plants. He is building a plant based filtration system for Bobby the frog... see next comment...

If you‘re looking for a fast pace page turner epic adventure YA novel, I highly recommend this one. Likable characters. Good lessons learned. Kind of Lord of the Rings with elves, dwarves, humans, and orcs but with demons and witchcraft thrown in. And schoolwork involved. I enjoyed it and I look forward to where Fletcher goes next.

Husband asked me to read this series with him. The first book ended on such a cliffhanger I‘m kicking myself for not putting the second on hold at the same time.

I enjoyed this book so much! It was such a fun fast read! I feel people who enjoy Harry Potter and Pokémon would really like this! I‘ll be diving into the second one right away!

I loved this book!! From start to finish it trapped me in!! At times I had trouble with pacing and the rules of the world but it was still an awesome book. If you like magic and fantasy you will love this book!!!

This was a great first book to a trilogy. It leans a little more to the y side of YA but that was fine by me. I will be passing it on to my daughter to read.

My daughter's best friend got her this for her birthday. Have any of you read it? It looks more YA than what she's read so far. (Actually, the cover makes it look like it's based on a MMORPG, but that seems to just be the current cover art convention.)

I was supposed to finish this by yesterday for my book club but I didn‘t quite make it, so I finished it this afternoon. It wasn‘t my favorite YA fantasy, but it was solid and interested me enough to pick up the next one. There were duels and magic school highs and lows, and political intrigue, and summoning demons - overall fun. This is a pet from World of Warcraft which is kind of how I was picturing the main character‘s salamander.

This is a great book, very creative.

Such a great book recommend for Harry Potter lovers.👍👍

I give this 3 stars - the narrator was a terrible choice for a 15 yr old MC he sounded like an old man the entire time and had trouble keeping voices separate. The story was also filled with every fantasy cliche in book & has a cliff hanger ending. While not a love for me I do think that younger teen readers transitioning from MG will love it

New read heading into the weekend.

I've been dying to read this series...it looks so badass. But that little dragon/wyvern on his shoulder makes me giggle.

I highly enjoyed this one. The demonology stuff was interesting and very well done. And I love Ignitus, he's so indifferent 😂. My only hitch was that the school-rivalry was a little too similar to that of Harry Potter and the Elf was inconsistent. So I wouldn't count it as a writing masterpiece but it was a very fun read.

I thought this book had a really interesting premise. I picked it up on a whim for the cover art, and found the story to be one that had a lot of potential. Despite enjoying it for the most part, I found it lacking in some areas. I would have really enjoyed learning more about the history of summoners, and I felt some of the character archetypes were ones I've seen previously. I look forward to reading the next installment, not a bad book overall.

I bought this as a Christmas Present for my son. He liked the Eragon and the Red Rising series so I hope he likes this. It sounds really interesting to me and I plan on borrowing it from him.
