My streak of Nopes continues. I picked this up from my library for banned books week and I‘m a little sorry about that. I didn‘t expect to like Harriet, at least in the beginning, but I actually find her intolerable. I switched to audio, but I‘m just not enjoying the writing either. So, chalk another one up to just not my thing, and that‘s fine. (I do like Ole Golly, though. I‘d almost keep reading just for her)
I loved Harriet the Spy! I‘d read it over and over and eat tomato/mayo sandwiches and buy notebooks. It was my first journaling attempt. Thanks for the tag, @Eggs !❤️
If you haven‘t yet, join in!

One of my favorite books is on sale for #Kindle today. (Can‘t say I like the new cover, though.) #kindledeal #ebook
I had a really fun time making this quiz! Check it out and let me know if you're Meg from A Wrinkle in Time, Harriet the Spy, Cassie from Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, or another tween heroine!

This is a really interesting lit, but Harriet the Spy is still my favorite book on it:

I think this is the first time I‘ve “panned” a book…⭐️⭐️ - This did not age well for me. Picked up on a nostalgic whim from the library, I‘m thankful my kiddo wasn‘t interested in reading this when I first recommended it.
Nowhere‘s Instagram video feed is great today, a look at banned books and why they were banned, like this one.
I re-read this so many times as a kid, and re-reading as an adult was a bit strange. I loved Harriet then and really wanted to be her - I started keeping a notebook, I wished I lived in a city so I could spy on my neighbours. Rereading it as an adult, I still like how feisty she is, even how horrible she is at times, but I can see now that she's also quite dysfunctional, and maybe we're supposed to feel sorry for her, not want to be her.
Comfort re-read. Must have read this at least 20 times as a kid. Hope it's as good as I remember it.
I enjoyed this one but this time I read it with adult eyes, there were concerns about Harriet‘s behavior. Loved her young critical thinking process. My heart was broken during the goodbye to her significant person. However, it should be discussed with middle grade children of what is appropriate or not when you write about others in school journal (social media). Also it should be discussed differences of being a “spy” vs public privacy. 3.75⭐️
Offloaded a bunch of books at Little Free Libraries today, and found THIS!! I loved Harriet as a kid! 🥳🥳🥳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
1. I seem to have developed a fetish for natural fibers, making me prone to prefer historical fiction and nonfiction history. If I read anything from the 18th century I can't help but wonder where Jamie and Claire are meanwhile...
2. No preference. But I tend to remember them if they mention sandwiches.

I‘m more of a goody-two-shoes than Harriet but I was always curious like she is.
1: swimming and diving — I wasn‘t good enough to be on the teams. When I was in grad school though, I was diving for fun, and one of the members of the diving team started practicing with me because he said that I had “the soul of a diver.” 😊
2/ my university is not pressuring us to return to the library building. I can continue to work from home.

1. I‘m bad at team sports but I like running. I did one season x-country in high school then took up marathoning in my late-30s. Ran 6 marathons, then one day I was done.🤷🏻♀️ Have been running more again since lockdown—grateful to be reminded how much it helps my mental health.
2. Good health of my near & dear, clean air, and our little A/C unit as we have another heat advisory - turned out to be a good buy ✅

Soon as I woke up this morning, I knew it was time to reread HARRIET THE SPY.
Harriet finds that being a #spy and a #freethinker isn‘t always easy, but I‘ll bet she could solve the case of #thetexaschainsawmassacre

Pretty much the best book ever.
A girl that didn't play by the rules and wanted to be a writer.
Set me off on my career of reading.
I liked Harriet the Spy. I didn't love it, but I did care for Harriet and liked her a lot.
After that I read Coraline, and that I loved.
My library is doing "grab and go" but the security guard is too aggressive so I am trying to check out e-books whenever possible so as not to have to deal with her.
I've long been wanting to read Harriet the Spy. The movie came out when I was very young, about 5 years old, and it always stuck with me. I think it actually influenced me to start writing in the first place, so I am excited to read the book!
These are three books that take place in New York that I read and loved as a child. I was always amazed at how these kids were allowed to walk and take buses and cabs around a big city like NYC without adults. I walked to school with other kids but that was it. I would have been terrified to take a bus on my own. 😀

I'm so happy that I finally read this! I watched the movie shortly after it first came out years ago and I remember really enjoying it. I may have too rewatch it to see all the differences.
I blame Harriet for my lifelong #notebook addiction. 😂 #notebookaddict #QuotsyMay20

Day 2 (Which was supposed to be yesterday but I got distracted by the readathon!)
We present here seven books that will remain in our minds, because they touched us so much, changed us. No further comment!
#HarrietTheSpy
One of my favorite books of all time. Harriet‘s spying, school, and life adventures hook me time and again. 💙
Going back to reread a favorite, since newer books are not working for my quarantine brain. Just reading this first page made me feel better.

When I talk about books that I read in my childhood most of the time I don't remember the story. I don't remember all of the characters. I don't remember how long it took me to finish reading the book.
But what I do remember is probably the most precious gift of discovering literature as a child -> the story lifted me beyond the gravitational pull of this earthly planet and delivered me to some place else.👇🏽
1. I think I‘ve been reading since forever, how‘s that? I loved the Nancy Drew series. Also Harriet the Spy, Ramona the Pest, some Judy Blume & William Steig. 📚
2. I loved Barbies & EZ-bake stoves; Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion 🎥; Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Avengers, The Saint & Dark Shadows 📺; and swimming.
3. President Kennedy was killed; Beatles on Ed Sullivan; Vietnam war; March on Washington-MLK speech

So many good books with a person's name in the title. For example, the Harry Potter books, Emma, Rebecca, Oliver Twist, etc. I choose this one because I read it with my youngest grand daughter a few weeks ago.
Re-reading this book brought back so many good memories :) I loved it of course . #GiftBook

I‘ve been thinking about my father a lot lately and all the stories I wish I could tell him.
Got home! Laying on the couch cuddling with the baby!!
Haha my hubby took me to eat wurst yesterday and it was heavenly :) ❤️❤️❤️
I‘m excited to reread this wonderful book. Was a great gift from a super sweet person. :) yay!!!
#StoryBookSunday : so this was one of my favorites as a child. I used to write all sorts of “clues” about strangers and do the thing where you make up stories about what people might be up to. I think it‘s helped me become more inquisitive and observant as an adult

Got this in the mail today 💗💗💗 one of my all time favorite books as a kid. I use to get in so much trouble for keeping a notepad with everything I seen and what people around the house said 😂 I had my own rock collection too. Each rock had their own names and I‘d play with them often. I wanted a utility belt but my parents were assholes and refused to get me one lol I can‘t believe it‘s taken so many years to order this book💗
Any Harriet the Spy fans out there?

This was one of my favorite books as a kid. I found it at a thrift store and have reread it dozens of times since, as you can see.
Congratulations on the milestone, @IamIamIam. I actually found you because of the great books people are posting for your #26Kgiveaway!
Got my niece a new book for Christmas. Also a set of notebooks and pencils. She is now sneaking around the house, scribbling down her observations. I've created a monster! 😆🤗😂 #raisingreaders
Congratulations @Moray_Reads on your milestone! I think my most life changing book was Harriet the Spy. I discovered a kindred spirit and journaling. I went out and bought my first notebook and started writing my thoughts. She introduced a whole new world to me!
#bookschangelivesgiveaway
1. I think I was always writing in notebooks so I related to Harriet. Something like this story actually happened to me in fifth grade.
2. If we‘re talking passion: pie. Volume consumed: cake
3. I write, various fiber arts, wandering, agonizing, being alone, enjoying nature, traveling, gardening...
4. Colorado‘s pretty great but also cold, rocky coastal places with rain
Thanks for the tag, @Trashcanman #friyayintro
If Litsy had been around when I first read this, at age 8, I probably would have rated it 4 stars. I should probably stop rereading my favorite childhood books. 🤔😉 So far, only The Phantom Tollbooth has held up. 💙
