A wonderful memoir. Especially good on audio! Read by Delia Ephron herself. 🎧
A Visit from the Goon Squad is one of my all-time favorite books so I was very excited to read The Candy House. I went back and forth on whether to reread Good Squad before delving in to The Candy House and in the end decided not to do the reread since I figured most readers wouldn't do that. I think I would have enjoyed The Candy House more if I had. (Continued)
#readingbracket @chasjjlee Loved @ChaoticMissAdventures idea to separate fiction and nonfiction.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My dream self is a writer of middle grade fiction. This is one of the books I wish I had written. Love that it takes place in Minneapolis. So good!! P.S. i‘m sure this has been discussed. But, why is Litsy missing so many book images?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful memoir written by a teenager. His descriptions of nature and life with autism are moving, heartfelt, and eye-opening.
I suspended all disbelief and thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi tale. Especially good on audio because parts of the story work really well in this format.
I love this series. I feel like I‘m hanging out with a super funny friend. :-)
I loved all the characters and the story. I learned so much about the bees, too. I am surprised this is a debut novel. I look forward to more from her. Highly recommend! 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Cute story about siblings with no parents around and a little magic. Especially enjoyable to read an original 1961 copy!
Another smartly-written, light read. Love her insights and humor.
I‘m a fan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A must-read. This gave me such a deep perspective of the imbedded inequities in this country. “A world without caste will set everyone free.” Great on audio. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I knew nothing of the history of Uruguay and learned a lot from this book. Very deft exploration of what it means to have to silence a part of yourself. Reading this now, about a country experiencing a coup and dictatorship, was especially powerful.
I‘m a big Jenny Colgan fan! This is the third one in the Scottish Bookshop series, but I think each book can stand independently. I will be reading the second one next.
So unbelievably good. Can‘t wait for part 2. I loved the audio version. So cool to hang out with the president. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really good read. Has a similar feel to a few other books listed in the comments.
Thank you Litsy for all the recommendations about this one. I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a big fan of The Lazy Genius podcast and it was fun to read this book while being able to "hear" Adachi's voice in my head. My biggest takeaway from the podcast is to name what matters to you and build routines etc from that. I feel like that point was woven through the book but not called out as its own item. I think this book details a great approach to improving your life from a place of compassion and efficiency (more...)
I love love loved Amor Towles‘ A Gentleman in Moscow. One of my all-time favs. I did not like this story at all. I was surprised. Started out with promise and then completely fizzled.
By far the best of this collection. Looking forward to reading her books now.
This is the 4th full novel in the Mure series by Jenny Colgan and I think it might be the best one! I thoroughly enjoyed being back on the fictional Scottish island of Mure. I like how the characters we‘ve come to know during the series are still there, but Colgan spends more time developing several of the minor characters and introduces some fun new ones. (more)
Interesting investigation into all the ways out secondhand items are passed on via Goodwill etc. in the US and worldwide. Has inspired me to declutter :)
I loved the original series but thought this was just so-so. I slogged through the first 2/3 and found it so boring and repetitive. The last 1/3 was great. I would love to see more of this series continuing on in time, versus the same story from another viewpoint.
Loved this one. Lyrical prose, secrets, wonderful sense of place, relationships. It is categorized as YA but that surprised me (though I love YA!).
Just ok for me. I liked the snarky teen beginning then it lost me with many allusions that I likely didn‘t understand.
Short piece from Audible. I usually don‘t like short stories, but I enjoyed this.
A short piece from Audible. Really enjoyed it and wanted to hear the rest of his years. Loved hearing stories behind the songs.
I have so much more to learn but this book will be an important part of my journey. It is written to be interactive. Short chapters with journal prompts for 28 days. Can not recommend this enough.
One of many well-said, but awful, truths in this book.
This book is #2 in the Mure series. I liked it and will read the next one, but didn‘t enjoy it quite as much as the first one (The Café by the Sea).
Just discovered there are several more books in this series AND they are available to download from the library! Yahoo!!
