I love British accents, the vocal actor is doing an amazing job!

TLuvs Strangers to lovers, lots of banter, jilted at the alter, finding of one's self, criminal setup, and the list goes on in this SK novel. My first read by this author and I'll definitely be reading more! Great for a summer read and for fans of women's fiction, new adult fiction, and romance genré's. 2y

While I enjoyed the premise and idea of this book, it was unfortunately so drawn out. There was really no reason this book couldn‘t have been 250 pages instead of the 433 pages, which is the reason I‘m giving it a so-so instead of a thumbs up. The writing was very clever, and I particularly loved the use of footnotes throughout the story.

aroc Omg! You changed your name!!! Eeee! 3y
KristiAhlers I‘ve gotten kinda burned out on her books. They just done read like they used to me. 3y
samantharoberts @aroc yes!! I couldn‘t wait 🥰🤪 3y
samantharoberts @KristiAhlers this is the first book of hers that I‘ve read! I‘ve heard good things, but was rather disappointed in this one 3y
KristiAhlers @samantharoberts go back to her shopaholic books. I started to read those when I lived in England and I wanted to read “local” authors. Those were really good. 3y

Happily Ever After is never guaranteed in real life. Which is why I loved this book. Even though the story had some hiccups and certain characters I still didn‘t like. I still feel like the author did this story justice. The fact that she ended it with we don‘t know what‘s gonna happen with the couple but that‘s life! 💖4/5💖

Poppy Wyatt is simply stupid! She‘s annoyingly “naive?” Or just plain stupid. What grown woman puts stickers on her phone? She‘s not at all endearing and yet I‘m sucked in and that‘s the Kinsella talent. I find myself listening to this more than Kinsella‘s The Wedding Night.

Poppy has lost her engagement ring, which is a precious family heirloom from her fiancé, and is on a mission to find it. Not only is her ring gone but now her phone is stolen!

She luckily finds a phone tossed away in a nearby trashcan (who throws away a working cell phone?) but the phone‘s owner, Sam, wants it back as it was a work phone.

The unraveling of events in one afternoon is truly hilarious. Will Poppy get her happily ever after?

Saknicole I remember not hating this book. The author is great at some fun reads. 4y

I usually love Kinsella for a light, fun read, but I just couldn‘t with this one! There were actual footnotes! Footnotes. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can see how and why footnotes are useful in reference or nonfiction, but in fiction (esp. chick lit), I don‘t need it. It‘s really not a necessity. Just no. #DNF

#bookspinbingo - I know I won‘t get a book read tomorrow as it‘s gonna be a busy day, so sadly no bingo this month, but still lots of reading got done!

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! I had really mixed feelings about this one. There was a lot that I liked, but I couldn't get past the grey area of “almost“-cheating (is it cheating on your man if you spend a bunch of time talking/texting with a guy he doesn't even know exists...???) I'm kind of over romcoms insisting that there has to be an original guy who literally just exists to create weird drama and set up our heroine to basically be a cheat! 4y
OriginalCyn620 @TheAromaofBooks IDK if that‘s “cheating” but it‘s most definitely wrong! And the fact that Poppy felt she couldn‘t be honest about losing the ring means something must be wrong in the relationship. Granted, it‘s not an easy thing to tell, but you should always feel you can be honest with your partner. But I only got to 6 chapters and the footnotes were too distracting! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Yes, whose idea were those?? They were so rambly & in the middle of things! 4y

This was an interesting read. The constant dialogue was hard to get use to and the main character seemed to be on a 20 cup espresso caffeine high. I didn't find it funny, more annoying at times. There was an odd pull to keep reading so that intrigued me.

#review #romance

TheAromaofBooks haha I had similar feelings about it. Sounds like this one gets to move on to someone else yet again! 😂 4y
TheAromaofBooks I think I would have liked the book a lot more if Poppy hadn't been engaged to someone else - it seems like there could have been a different way to create tension besides having her basically cheating. It made a lot of the book feel uncomfortable/awkward to me instead of fun. 4y
sharread @TheAromaofBooks I wholeheartedly agree. She was going crazy about her ring. ❤👍 4y

Wow, so many mixed feelings on this one! So the pros: this was fun! The concept was fun, Poppy was very likable, there's plenty of fun banter and awkward situations. The cons: Poppy lies to/hides things from her fiance and is basically emotionally cheating on him, and that's never really addressed. It felt like there was a real double standard where the guy was a jerk for flirting with other women, but Poppy thought it was okay for her to be ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) confiding in and spending a lot of time with a random guy that Poppy's fiance doesn't even know exists. We know something has to happen with the fiance so that Poppy ends up with the “right“ guy, so it's no big shock when it turns out that the fiance was cheating on her - but does that justify what Poppy was doing before she knew about that? So while the writing was fun, I really don't like that books that act like any form of cheating ⬇ 4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) is okay/justified. Sorry, no. Get out of your current relationship first, THEN start the next one. It also makes it difficult for me to believe that the NEW relationship is really THE ONE considering you just thought this other relationship was THE ONE literally a week ago. So. A fun one, but one that I can't, in good conscience, recommend. 4y
OriginalCyn620 Yikes! I‘m actually planning to read this one in August. I‘ll just try to concentrate on the fun parts! 4y

dgingo Agreed. This bothered me, too. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @OriginalCyn620 - Honestly, if you're just reading it for some relaxing fluff, it's a perfectly fun little story. It's just that I've noticed a creeping trend in romcoms towards “it's not really cheating if later you find out the other person was cheating more“ that doesn't sit completely comfortably with me. But there was also a lot of fun in this story that made it an enjoyable read. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @dgingo - I just feel like the whole story could have been so much more fun and happy if there hadn't been a fiance at all. There are loads of other ways to create tension than tired love triangles! 4y
dgingo @TheAromaofBooks I agree! And, I wish Kinsella wouldn‘t end the book the moment the couple gets together. Am I the only one frustrated by that? 4y
TheAromaofBooks @dgingo - I could at least use an epilogue!! 4y

Ever read a book that you WANT to like and actually DO like except at the same time the main character is STRESSING YOU OUT SO HARD?! I like Poppy a lot but she is seriously giving me a nervous breakdown!!

AkashaVampie Sounds like an interesting book.... haha 4y
TheAromaofBooks @AkashaVampie - The concept is fun and the writing is good, but Poppy is keeping a lot of secrets and that always makes me SO uncomfortable! 4y
AkashaVampie @TheAromaofBooks oooh sounds good. Will have to check it out. 4y
sharread This sounds good. I like character's that push your buttons. 😁 4y
TheAromaofBooks @sharread - I finished it today and have such mixed feelings!!! So much of the book was just super fun, the MC is very likable, and there is loads of fun banter and honestly hardly any conversations about sex, which is one of my big beefs with modern romcoms. BUT she's essentially flirting with this other guy while being engaged to someone else, and that just never sits right with me! It left me feeling conflicted on the whole! 😬 4y

The story is based on a highly unusual but interesting premise, a cell phone shared by two strangers where the woman becomes the man‘s unpaid meddling personal assistant of sorts. They end up helping each other as she learns to become a tad more assertive, like him, and he learns...to use emojis, like her. #SnarkyButSeriously

A light read/listen, which is what I have gravitated towards lately. #Pandemic #LibraryBook #Audiobook

June 21, 2020 Hello all!!! Happy 2nd day of summer. Summer has officially arrived and my other books have officially arrived. The weird thing that has been happening to me whenever i order books from Amazon rather than buying them at a bookstore is that the books are separated into different orders. Anyways, I've Got Your Number is pretty good. The ones this time are all fiction books, however i bought two more thriller books of course. 😍

I bought four other books (there will be another picture with this book included). I like this book so far by Sophie Kinsella. We will see if she impresses me at the end. I know she has written more but I am not sure if I will buy anymore of her books. 👍🏻

I *rarely* get out of the house early on Saturday mornings, but today I have my first personal training session (eep!). It must have scrambled my brain bc I accidentally left the house without my Kindle (double eep!) and didn't realize it until I got to the subway. Luckily, the Kindle app works great for these types of emergencies, so I'm grabbing a few min of solace with my book on the Highline before popping over to the gym 😆
