I can‘t find this since my recent move. I‘m gonna soon buy a new copy if I can‘t lay my hands on it. It will be after finishing “The Burgess Boys” now.

I‘ve been searching for a while to find a mystery series I would love. Bingo! I love this book. I don‘t want to put it down. It‘s not just the mystery aspect but also my captivation with Ruth. She is such an interesting person.
I prefer mysteries that are more thrilling but this was entertaining. I also loved conversations about archaeology, how interesting!
Ruth was likable and I loved how professional she was. Amateur sleuths tend to do unbelievable things but she let the police do their job and only helped them when asked. That felt realistic.
I liked the setting but would have loved to have scenes that made my heart jump. Interesting and nice read

First book in the Ruth Galloway mystery series. Enjoyed the whole series.
My library #SHPL did a #BlindDateWithABook for Valentines Day!
This is the one I checked out from the library. The first two words are what for me to select it - the love of history and the hopes of something nautical by the seashore!
enjoyed the first book in the Ruth Galloway Series. I listened to it. Ruth is an anthropologist. She gets dragged into a murder investigation when bones are found in the marsh. The Detective calls, bc he thinks it's the body of a missing girl. Soon Ruth is entangled in the mystery. Good start to the series. It kept my attention and there was a few red herrings .

I really hope this series is good, because I've got almost all of them waiting on my tbr stack lol
I‘m easily distracted listening to a book. I find I miss parts. Still enjoyable though. Sticking to one‘s I‘ve already read though.
Despite some funny character motivations, inconsistent personalities, and kind of a trite wrap-up, I really enjoyed this novel. I'll probably give the next book a try, but I'm not positive yet if I'll follow Ruth Galloway through the entirety of the series. This is another book that's feeding my jealousy over my spouse's planned UK business trip. Maybe I should work up the courage to take a solo trip...
Yesterday didn't afford me much reading time, so the wait time during vet visits today and tomorrow is actually welcome (for me, at least. Not as much for the kitties).
When I finally figured out that "Rebus" is a detective and series by Ian Rankin and not a puzzle book as I'd first thought ("Wow, are rebus puzzles that popular in England?" I wondered), I had to add Knots and Crosses to my TBR. I'm almost caught up on Connelly's books and Louise Penny's newest is still months away on my library holds list, so might as well try out a new crime fiction series or two.
Set on a salt marsh in Norfolk England, this is a gripping mystery. When a child's bones are found in the marsh, the local police turn to archeologist Ruth Galloway for help. I just added another series to my #SeriesLove2023 list. @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Today is Women Rock Day, so for today‘s challenge post some of your favourite women authors, favourite women musicians or favourite women in any field.
I love the books of Elly Griffiths, favourite female musician a bit dated but would be Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, and Jacinda Arden would be my leading woman of the last few years.

This is book one of the Ruth Galloway mystery series. One of my favorite crime books. ❤️📚❤️

I enjoyed this one, despite feeling like a sad book. Makes sense, since it involves missing/presumed dead children. The archaelogy aspect was fun, though.

I‘ve been in my own readathon since Thursday night. And I‘ve loved the mindset- just enjoying my books. I finished the first one last week- (it was my read while waiting book- does anyone else have a book they don‘t really care about but read in small start and stops?) and the second one i finished today. Very soft picks. Some issues are super problematic for me- but I needed books I could enjoy and put down. I will put frustration in comments.
I had such a fabulous Easter that this is actually the first time I‘m sitting and putting my feet up 😍 Ending my day with an Old Fashioned, my book and Easter Parade on TV with my parents. Cheers!

16/22- I have been in a real reading funk this last couple of weeks. Things have been really rough and my brain can‘t get into anything on the page. But audiobooks have come to my rescue and this quiet, character driven mystery helped give my brain a break from reality. As soon as I finished I wanted to start the next- always a good sign- to see what happens to Ruth Galloway, forensic archeologist, next. Pic of salt marshes where book is set. 4⭐️
Despite guessing the primary whodunnit, I (mostly) enjoyed this mystery. The landscape is very atmospheric, salt marshes and henges and tidal flats. The archeological element was fantastic! I didn't love the protagonist's self-body-image, or a scene that I'll keep under the spoiler flag.
Kindle image.
A pretty good, atmospheric mystery. Ruth is a good character and, as a Bones fan, I appreciated that she was a forensic anthropologist. I hope her profession has more impact on subsequent books in this series.
Another book down on my #BookSpinBingo card, which I need to post a pic of, but I‘ve been woefully inattentive to Litsy the last week or so. And when I do that I miss it!
I started this book twice before, didn‘t get far, and had to return it to the library. This time I finished it and have the next one in the queue. It‘s an unusual series, an unusual heroine, and an absolutely mesmerizing setting. Highly recommended.
The oaks have leafed out!
I loved this book! I have heard so many good things about this series and I am hooked! I can‘t wait to read the next in the series! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!
At first, Ruth was an interesting character. She was a different hero, not skinny and beautiful, someone who likes to be alone with her cats near the sea. But the story itself was quite predictable and formulaic. I figured out who was involved pretty early. You could really see the author's mental gyrations in constructing this plot, trying to weave in all of the strands. The atmosphere petered out quickly as well.
Wow! I am so glad I‘ve found this series. Who knew archeology could be so exciting? There‘s a salt marsh, a henge, relics, bodies (ancient and modern), madness, magic(?), twists (not gratuitous), and resolution. Wonderfully written, greatly entertaining. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thought it was about time I started another series!
So I liked the crime plot and the setting of the story and the MCs.
I didn‘t like the constant fat shaming of the MC. Is it vital to the continuing plot line to be told she‘s overweight every other page? I don‘t think so, does this carry on through the series?
#seriesread2021
The audio was ok. I missed a lot of it at the start, as the audio just wasn‘t holding my attention. It picked up part-way through and I was more interested, but I still missed a few things. I really didn‘t like two particular characters, but it might have – in part – been due to the voices/accents by the narrator. Those accents (and/or the voices for them) really annoyed me! I don‘t plan to continue the series
An enjoyable murder mystery. Just the right amount of scary, suspense and intrigue to make it go quickly. I loved the main character Ruth. She is intelligent and independent. Glad it is a series, I am looking forward to reading the next book.4 ⭐

Third book for #cocoturns50 and first book for #ReadYourWay complete!
What a quirky and compelling mystery. I love Dr. Galloway. The archeology elements were more interesting than I thought they would be.

Allergies have been kicking my butt lately so I'm trying to take it easy today with a good book and minimal chores (laundry still has to get done lol).
I'm liking the tagged book so far. I've never encountered a mystery written in the present tense, and I don't hate it.

Pretty good but not mind blowing.
A teensy bit predictable, but still good enough that I‘m going to read the sequel.
Yet another series I‘ve started but have yet to finish! I loved the first 4 books. I will get to it! I promise! 🤪 #top20series #20series20days

I love the Ruth Galloway series set in Norfolk, England. A mixture of a detective series and archaeological themes. A great group of chararacters. There are now 12 in the series with a 13 due out next year.
Day 9 (I think) #Top20series #20series20days Another excellent series and fabulous protagonist who I find to be a bit different due to her vocation as a forensic archeologists, and her personality. Very quirky characters, and I love the salt marshes.
This is probably the closest I‘ll ever get to “cozy” mysteries. I especially enjoy reading these in the fall and winter months. #20Series20Days #Top20Series

I know I‘m not ranking series, but if I were, this one would be near the top. It‘s also special to me because I bought the first of the series, the tagged book, at Heffers in Cambridge on the advice of the friend were visiting. She didn‘t steer me wrong. I have all the books, although the others are on my Kindle. Mystery plus archeology, and I love the MC.
There is *a lot* going on in The Crossing Places. I'll very possibly read installment #2.
When a child's bones are found, forensic archaeologist Dr. Ruth Galloway gets sucked into a case of of two missing girls (over the course of a decade).
Dr. RG isn't the typical strong, confident, kick-ass female protagonist I usually read; but, I'm looking forward to getting to know her better over time.
When the bones of a little girl turn up, archaeologist Ruth Galloway teams up with a grumpy northern copper to solve a ten year old mystery. This was an enjoyable and atmospheric mystery set on the wild Norfolk coast. Chilling rather than graphic with complicated characters, The Crossing Places is an unexpected find. Is the rest of the series as good?
The idea for this book sounded interesting, but it was hard to get into. The first 1/3 of the book felt like a forced introduction to the characters. Clearly there were features the author wanted us to know, but they were explained simply by repeating them.
The last maybe 50 pages made up for the slowness of the beginning. The writing paired with certain themes make it less likely I will read the next in the series.
This book was okay. I thought it was worth reading but I think it will be quite forgettable as the weeks go on. There was nothing about it that stood out or made an impression on me.
