I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, and I'll definitely be continuing the series at some point. While the subject matter is definitely dark, it doesn't become morbidly grotesque or seem to become intentially dark to entertain morbid fascinations. It is a unique take on a dystopian with some fun twists that were unexpected. It is definitely a YA, with it's tropey love triangle, but the book has substance aside from this.

While this was definitely a cute, sometimes cheesy romance, it had some surprising raw, emotional moments. I didn't have corrupt Santa on my Bingo card, but I enjoyed the change of pace.

4⭐ This strange, poetically lovely book is a love triangle between an angel and a demon and the city she's so carefully honed. It is less about understanding everything and more about the feelings the story evokes. It's hard to describe this book and even harder to follow everything that happens, yet I found it strangely alluring and compelling.

5⭐ I read this poignant, heartfelt, beautiful book in one evening. It lovingly delves into complex topics of mental health, belonging, immune disorders, and more, while being upbeat, hopeful, and a touch magical. This is one of those books that I want to hand to people and say, "Just go read it." ?

4⭐ This book is as pleasing to look at as it is to read. I love all the form poems within the work. While Bull was amusing, this work is definitely darker and sadder. The poems are strong and do an apt job of paying tribute to the tragic story of Joan of Arc.

Wow, I don't know if I have the words to express how much I loved this book. It was heartbreakingly beautiful and the verse style is impeccable. Each word carries weight and right down to its placement on the page matters. And it manages to take readers on a journey that is both familiar and mysterious, with surprises along the way.

Sometimes you have to treat yourself to a good brunch, a good book, and a latte.

Dang, I wanted to love this. The plot was interesting. Magic books and secret protectors and collectors of them should be right up my alley. But this book didn't seem to go anywhere until right before the very end. ⬇️

Simple, but powerful. Sometimes that is all you can do, and sometimes that is the exact thing you need to do.

Sometimes you need to get out of your head (and off your FB news feed) and bury your head in a book. Decided to take a brisk walk to the local coffee shop and knock out some of my library books.

I need more from Hari Conner after reading this. First off, the art is fantastic. It is cute and immediately eye-catching, with an amazing use of color, but what truly stands out is the artist's use of expression. You can immediately tell what the characters are thinking and feeling, and so many panels I wanted to share with my friends due to relatability.⬇️

The expressions on Charlotte in these panels made me snort. We've all had those two friends that we were clearly aware were flirting even if they aren't. 😅😅

This was a fun, not-to-be-taken-seriously book. I've seen some complaints that the action builds too slowly or that the characters should notice the strange things going on sooner, but I found that to be part of the charm of this book. ⬇️

I've decided to try #BookSpin and #BookSpinBingo again. I saw someone's idea of having two lists, and I think that will be great for me. My spin list will be books I own to try to encourage me to read those and my bingo will be criteria for the group I help run, the spins, and the Cosmere read-through I'm doing with my partner. I don't read 25 books a month and the bingo is just for fun, so I've broken it up to make it work for me. :)

What a wonderful, thought-provoking, and aesthetically pleasing book this is. It can be read very quickly, but it sticks with you long after. While simple on the surface, it has depth for readers of all ages...and I think we all need a little reminder that there is still an abundance of love and wonder to be found in the world.

This book was an absolute delight, especially because of the narrator, who is infectiously enthusiastic. The book was so funny and did not take itself seriously, but still wove a cohesive and entertaining alternate history. I also loved all the pop culture references woven throughout.

For a murder mystery, this was actually a lighthearted read. I found it quite enjoyable, especially due to the quality narrator. While I'm normally not a mystery novel reader, this one was so charming that I plan on reading more in the series.

This was nothing to write home about, but it was enjoyable enough as a quick listen while completing chores. It was a bit ridiculous and the romance was definitely quick and forced, but that said, I liked it enough to listen to the next one when it comes in from the library.

I absolutely loved this addition to the series. In fact, it's my favorite one so far and will be a comfort reread. The characters are loveable and fun and I believe that the author is truly settling into this genre.

I quite enjoyed Ben Stiller's new Christmas movie, Nutcrackers. It is definitely more drama than comedy, and Christmas is more of a backdrop, but it was really good.

I love the concept, but I'm not sure it is for me. It was hard to follow (maybe just a little too convoluted for audio?), and while absurd in some funny ways, I think some of the jokes were lost on me. Probably doesn't help that I'm not a Jane Eyre fan. I do like this type of humor and the concept is fun, so I may try more in the series and other books by Jasper Fforde.

This is such an odd premise, but it was fun to just go along with it and see what would happen. There are some tense moments, but overall this is an amusing look at relationships, the thing that makes us happy and the things that annoy us.
