It's hard for me to find the words to express how moving this story was. It was absolutely heartbreaking but also had moments of beauty and love. I'm so glad I finally had the chance to read it.

July Wrap Up

Favorites: The Women, This Could Be Us, and Lessons in Chemistry

I don‘t know what happened last month but it was my slowest reading month. I didn‘t finish the graphic novel even though I meant to so only one #bookspin completion for July 😄

This was excellent. I loved Julia Whelan‘s narration and the strong bond between Frankie and her best friends. Going in, I didn‘t have much knowledge of what happened during the Vietnam War so it was very interesting to read about how women were treated after serving their country. I have to say, Kristin Hannah is now on my favorite author list.

I wanted to read this one before watching the movie and it didn‘t disappoint. The audio was fantastic and even though it‘s non-fiction, the story is so disturbing you could almost believe it was fiction. It‘s infuriating how the Osage and other tribes were treated during this time period and even more frustrating, those who were responsible for the crimes, I don‘t feel they received a just punishment.

Another new-to-me author. This mystery takes place in New Zealand and has a strong focus on Māori culture and identity. The audiobook is great and has two narrators. This is book one and I‘m not sure if this will be a continuing series, but the next one comes out in May.

This was recommended to me a few years ago, but I never got around to reading it. The sequel came out recently, and I finally decided to read this one and I absolutely loved it. All of the characters were great and the ending had me on an emotional roller coaster and I just loved it so much. I can‘t wait to read the next one.
