Creepy Cat Vol. 1 | Cotton Valent

Pickpick

I adored this graphic novel about a cat who can appear out of nowhere, multiply, and be downright spooky. When a kitten briefly enters the story, it steals the spotlight but only briefly. The main character can only deal with “one” creepy kitty! It did take me some time to get the format, reading from the end to the beginning. Just tonight I realized I should have been reading the pages similarly, left to right. Lesson learned. ⬇️

Texreader This shouldn‘t have taken me a month to read and I‘m sad I‘m too late to put the next volumes on my Christmas wish list. But since I started it we were at Thanksgiving and sliding right into the Christmas holidays. #xmaschacha #wintergames #serieslove @StayCurious @TheSpineView @LibrarianRyan 3d

The local police have their hands full when a famous author‘s wife is found dead in what appears to be a ritual murder. Multiple murders later, it seems they are linked…someone is looking for and killing witches. But oddly they seem to have a role in their own murders. So for most of the book, the police are following this very logical conclusion…until it goes off the rails in an almost completely different t direction. Sadly this feels like 2 ⬇️

Texreader plots smushed together. The resolution seems to try to continue with the witchcraft theory while playing another context. Confused? Yea, me too. Meanwhile, there is a side story taking place some time ago in Venice and the primary detective. I‘m puzzled while she‘s concerned a hot-shot detective when the other cops almost always have to snap her out of some daydream. Before before the book goes off the rails, it‘s a complex and well-written ⬇️ 3d
Texreader mystery and for that it‘s a pick, barely. I think the author tries to do too much with this first in a series and he really didn‘t know how to conclude the book & took off on a tangent to solve the murders. (edited) 3d
LiseWorks I totally agree, I was a little confused too! 3d

5✨This was the book I needed in this series. While I like the love story of Feyre, the love story between Nesta is my favorite! I‘m a hate to love type of romance reader though. So glad I re-read the series to finally read this one. 🥰 #SeriesLove @TheSpineView @Andrew65

ImperfectCJ I'm not sure I've ever added a book to my TBR because of a dedication, but I might just do that with this one. 2w

My favorite in the series so far, and Three Pines was barely in it! Chief inspector Gamache and his wife are celebrating their anniversary at Manoir Bellechasse, just over the mountain range from Three Pines. Yearly visitors, this visit coincides with the Morrow family reunion, including the Gamache‘s friends from Three Pines, Peter and Clara. The last book hinted at Peter‘s dark side. When a Morrow is killed, is Peter to blame or another ⬇️

Texreader wretched Morrow? Or does the manoir‘s staff have something to hide? An impossible crime to pull off; only the most observant and detail-oriented investigator can pull this one off. And Gamache does so again. The author does struggle in explaining the complexity of the murder but kudos to her for not taking the easy route and giving us an extraordinarily complex murder mystery. #foodandlit #Canada @Catsandbooks #serieslove @TheSpineView ⬇️ 2w

3✨Short novella about one of the main characters sisters. I like that they continue the story through different eyes. Looking forward to the next one in the series. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

I love this series. Sadly it‘s the last in this series and it is very personal to the author, who was born in #Ghana. As in real life, the book involves the attempt to pass a law making homosexuality a crime. The law is being pushed by an American “Christian” group promoting family values. But the opposition starts dying horrible deaths, prompting private detectives (Emma Djan et al) to infiltrate some scary institutions. An excellent new book. ⬇️

Texreader I cannot recommend this author enough. His books are well-written, complex, and deal with very modern issues. I hope to start another of his series. #serieslove @TheSpineView 2w
