The Good Lie
The Good Lie | A. R. Torre

Six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide. Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She's spent a decade treating California's most depraved predators and unlocking their motives--predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning--and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development... Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer. Convinced of Thompson's innocence, he steps in to represent him. Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client's name. As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise. So does Gwen's suspicion that Robert is hiding something--and that he might not be the only one with a secret.

I really enjoyed The last party but this left me cold. I couldn‘t with Gwen who must be the worst psychiatrist ever. And the handsome lawyer with the dark past and heartbreak. 🤦🏻‍♀️So cliched which would have been ok if the plot was any good. Not for me.

Quick read, less than 250 pages. The twist…at first I was bugged, felt a little ripped off, but the more I thought about it the more ok with it I became. I really enjoyed the psychology parts of the book; super fascinating.

This was recommended in one of my book groups on Facebook and I enjoyed it. It was a quick read, and it had a twist I wasn‘t expecting. If you have Kindle Unlimited it‘s on there #ReadAway2024

My view last night while I read the tagged book. The sunset and the book were both great while enjoying the nice breeze coming off of Lake Champlain.

Gwen Moore, a psychologist specializing in those with violent tendencies, is working with attorney Robert Kavin to determine who killed 6 local teens. Oh... and Robert is also the father of one of the boys AND signed on to be the attorney of the man accused of being the serial killer.

Definitely enjoyed the writing style. Face paced and easy to follow. Nothing overly shocking with the ending but was enjoyable watching everything come together.

I read this book in one sitting! This psychological thriller is well done. The author seems to know her shit as far as profiling & mental health disorders go. I was glad to see that this wasn't mental illness used for the sake of explaining a character's bad behavior. Psychology, serial killers, profilers, attorneys, innocent man in jail... All the good stuff! I'd definitely recommend it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

5⭐
Keep em‘ coming Alessandra...keep em‘ coming.
The Ghostwriter is one of my all-time favorite books. The Deanna Madden Series blew my mind. Every Last Secret and The Good Lie have been phenomenal too. The only thing I had any kind of issue with was the lack of additional narrators for each POV. I did get confused a few times early on as to whose head I was in. The story had me so hooked, though, that it didn't end up being that big of a deal.

More fishing themed mates are starting to come together! 😍🎨🧉🎣 Taking a break from painting though to continue The Good Lie as it's too addictive to put on hold for long. 😁

A friend of the hubby commissioned a dozen fishing themed 'mates' for his fishing/camping shop, so I guess I will be busy painting in the near future. 😁🎨🧉🎣 I'm looking forward to start my ARC of The Good Lie too though!
