Ended on a cliff hanger! Damn it!
A great YA about politics, power play and family.

Every night now I try and have some time to myself. Having a G&T and trying to finish my first book since March (I think). Sneaky appearance from Thunderbird 2 who was hiding behind a cushion.
My adrenaline is through the roof right now due to waiting up to find out if my eldest had secured a place at our local primary. It was a yes! So now I'm on a high and can't sleep. Only one thing this time is good for...😂
*deep breath* So...this is extremely difficult for me to type...please bear with me. @BookBabe has gotten cold feet and decided to not pursue our relationship to the next level (marriage), so she‘s broken up with me 😩😭😔🥺. After 6 years together, it‘ll take time to sort things out. We‘re still going to be doing some stuff together. 👇🏻
I really wanted to love State of Sorrow. I adore Melinda‘s Sin Eater‘s Daughter series and was super excited about this one. It was just found this one so slow going and I was bored for the most part. I did like the storyline but it was very political and I‘m not a big politics lover. Unfortunately this one just wasn‘t for me. #ya #ireadya #fantasy #2Stars
#currentlyreading State of Sorrow. This storyline is really good but it‘s a very slow going book. I‘m enjoying it but it is very political #ya #Ireadya #fantasy
Trigger warning: the first half of the book thematises addiction and heavy drug use.
The second half of this book was much more enjoyable because there was not so much. I get panic attacks when reading such stories and therefore took a long time to get through it. I made, and I am glad I did, but to me personally, it can't be a 4 or 5 star book.
Pretty excited to have received the exclusive Fairyloot hardcover edition of State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury! Even though I don‘t regularly receive Fairyloot or OwlCrate anymore (costs, etc) I still enjoy their book selections though! Thank goodness for those buy/sell/trade groups am I right 😅📖 #fairyloot #readingobsession #mountTBR
Pretty good story, decent world building, but I‘m not a huge fan of the writing. I felt like it dulled the story and characters rather then give them life — it lacked sparkle, so to speak.
However I had expected not to really like this, so I suppose it exceeded expectations in a way 😊
I was kind of annoyed at this book, because I kind of felt like it had been forced on me. March was filled with amazing releases, and I know I wasn‘t the only one disappointed in Fairyloot‘s choice.
But it‘s not the book‘s fault, is it? So I‘m giving it a chance.

March‘s #fairyloot box was their 2nd anniversary box. Filled with a mini Goblet Of Fire candle which smells like chocolate, Bilbos Birthday Cake is a frosting scented bath salts, cork bunting to hang in your reading room, luxury drinking chocolate called Toast To The Warden Of The North, a beautiful light scarf covered in runes & finally the book which has a signed bookplate & is a limited edition hardcover printing. Happy Birthday @fairyloot
Someone told me that this will be the FairyLoot book of the month for March and I am so bummed out because there are so many awesome March releases I have on my wishlist and THIS.AIN‘T.ONE. ☹️😝
