Totally forgot to take a selfie today and now that I‘m in bed and in my pj‘s it‘s not gonna happen so here is one of the rare pics I like of myself. Just started the tagged book tonight and I‘m liking it so far.

I really enjoyed this one. Basu tells a wonderful story about an Indian family that‘s become wealthy and how they adapt to suddenly having a lot of money. The story has moments that will make you laugh and smile. Basu introduces the reader to Indian culture through each character. It‘s a shame more black American writers don‘t write stories like this light but informative. I highly recommend it!
I didn‘t dislike this book but I wanted more to happen. A middle class family in India becomes extremely rich after selling a business, so they move to a rich neighborhood. The husband, wife, and son all deal with their changed circumstances in different ways. A lot was about appearances and expectations. My issue was it took forever for them to move. I liked the side character, a neighbor from their old home, a lot more. This was my #BookSpin.
1. Movement (tagged book)
2. Oh yes. I‘ve ordered from my local indie, our local used bookstore, and from two other independent booksellers I follow online. I‘ve definitely used supporting them in this challenging time as an excuse to buy. I‘ve also been trying to order from local restaurants once a week.

I‘ve said before that I don‘t plan my reading ahead of time but this month I‘m giving it a try. This are (top to bottom) the Modern Mrs Darcy book club choice, Read with Jenna‘s April pick, and my #BookSpin #DoubleSpin and #TripleSpin books. Not pictured is Jessica Simpson‘s bio, which I have on the Libby app, and any audiobooks I can work in. Has anyone read any of these?
What happens if you unexpectedly come into a #fortune ? That‘s what this novel is about. I haven‘t read it yet but it‘s on my #BookSpin list. So maybe soon! #magnificentMarch
Started Reading the Kindle edition September 19, 2017, only to reshelve it and pick it back up this month (audiobook) and not enjoy it.
I just couldn't get into the characters. They were always in each other's business trying to influence and control each other's lives. I vividly remember zoning out, especially when any of the characters would talk about what they have and the name brands. ugh, 😑. I was irritated. Not for me.
I did not enjoy this at all. Mr. Jha is obnoxious, with his need to brag to everyone about his new wealth, & then his need to compete with his new neighbor about which of them had the more worthless son. I thought this would be a light, funny read, and it was just...ugh. I don't mind the audiobook narrator, but the story itself was a huge letdown. I only finished because it counts for MountTBR and I didn't want to bail on another book this month.
This is a story of traditional family and a modern son. This middle class family from India suddenly has an enormous amount of money and their life quickly changes. It started off really strong, but then quickly lost its luster.
If I won I would choose the Windfall and Melmoth! #95kgiveaway @TheLibrarian thanks for the opportunity
Ok, Litsy. I need your help!
I have a few weeks before I start the second round of revisions on my thesis, so I need some help choosing a book. From top left: a historical romance, a travel/food memoir, Fiction about an Indian family who suddenly make it rich (supposed to be super funny), and a guide to getting jobs after a PhD.
Any help is appreciated!📚❤️
This was a decent enough fluffy read. It was mildly amusing. I'm not the type to worry about keeping up with the Joneses. Would I appreciate the book more if I were?
Pictured is my newest orchid—a thank-you from Number One Son and
Almost-Daughter-In-Law for co-hosting their couple shower on Saturday. 💝
I really liked parts of this book (Mrs Ray) but other parts were just ok.
I honestly had such a hard time getting into this book, but I finally got invested in the characters about half way through. I was dying to get back go my book in between classes to see what happened with Reema and Upen, Rupak and Elizabeth, and Mr. Jha with the freaking ceiling and his couch. 😅
This really is a good book once you get into it. I'd recommend it!
Finally making some progress on Windfall! This book is witty and charming, and I'm really enjoying it.
P.s. that coffee warmer is life changing. I used to literally reheat the same cup of coffee into oblivion. 😅☕
Mr Anil Jha sells his website and becomes very rich overnight. He and his wife move from a middleclass apartment to a villa in a rich neighbourhood in Delhi. Everyone is judging them: the former neighbours as well as the new ones. Trying to fit in is not easy and leads to some funny situations. More than funny I found the novel charming and sweet.
Thanks for sending me this one, Cindy. I really enjoyed it and love that I have a BOTM edition! 💜
Started The Windfall today! I subbed an 8th grade heath class, and was reading while the students worked on packets. It was sex ed week, and so naturally all of the 14 year old boys had to ask me highly inappropriate questions (stuff that definitely was not in their packet) while I was reading. So, I may have to read the first chapter over again because I'm not sure what's going on. 😂
Dear Cindy, I can‘t believe this! Coming home to find a big parcel is such a surprise. To find it filled with presents even more. My birthday is next week but I couldn‘t stop myself and opened them all ☺️. You spoiled me!! Three books from my TBR! And among them the first BOTMs ever on my shelves, so cool!
And I loved your card and really hope you‘ll come to Amsterdam one day. Thank you sooo much! You made my day, my week probably 😘❤️
Meh. I've heard this compared to Crazy Rich Asians since it's kind of rich-people-problems, but it wasn't as fun and absurd. This was a little more serious, with a couple "ha, I see what you're doing there" amusing moments. Best part was side character Mrs. Ray trying to find herself as a young-ish widow.

Loved reading @4thhouseontheleft and @riversong153 ‘s comments on my #LMPBC pick! Thank you for the fun goodies, @riversong153 - I love inspirational quotes!! @4thhouseontheleft , I promise Sister of my Heart will be on its way to you this weekend!
Unpopular opinion time. This story was ok,
I found myself only caring about one or two of the characters. I pushed through to see how it would wrap up. I have trouble reading about #richpeopleproblems which is why I DNF Crazy Rich Asians. I can‘t seem to connect to this type of story line shrug 🤷🏾♀️
File this under: Things I‘ve Been Doing Instead of Reading “Jane Eyre.” 😅
Recently, I enrolled in a Bollywood/Bhangra class at a local center for World Dance & Music. Tonight was the last session. While there‘s absolutely no way that I don‘t look utterly ridiculous doing the choreography, it was fun to dance again!
Plus, I really dig the meaning behind Bhangra. Details below. 🤗👇🏻
I read this for book club & we all felt the same way, which almost never happens; we liked it but nobody loved it.
It‘s one of those books that suffers from too much hype. Everyone‘s praised it as being “so funny” but...it‘s only mildly funny. 🤷♀️
It‘s a book about a middle-aged Indian couple who suddenly comes into money, & the pitfalls of trying to “keep up with the Joneses” - or the Chopras, as the case may be. Nothing overly original here.
Oh this was delightful, poignant, and hit wayyyyy close to home. I found myself laughing, crying, cringing, with and at the characters and their foibles. A great first read for #reversereadathon
Morning @DeweysReadathon - ers! We're about 4 hours in, and I'm halfway through this super entertaining book. How's everyone doing? #reversereadathon
When the patrons are away, the librarians will... lay on the couch in the near-dark & read. 😉

“Her mother had taught her how to make this chicken curry and it had always been Rupak‘s favorite. She hoped Rupak‘s wife would someday learn how to make it. Wait, no — she was supposed to say she hoped Rupak himself would someday learn how to make it. She sometimes forgot to be a feminist.”
This was between so-so and 👍🏽. I usually like my satire more biting, and the characters were incredibly frustrating at times, but it had its moments.
@riversong153 this will be on its way to you tomorrow! #lmpbc
Taking a small moment to read and reflect in a beautiful spot along the New River before the busyness of the day begins! Spent a lot of time with new family last night and it was amazing, and a little overwhelming!
Anyone else a homebody on the 4th of July? We head out early tomorrow morning to travel to VA, and my daughter has never liked fireworks - sensory issues - so she is cuddling with me until the neighborhood displays nearby are over. 🎆🎇
🛏 👨👩👧😺😺 🛏 Full bed tonight. 😂
Trying to start a new book before bed, but someone wants to play. 😽 #catsofLitsy #HelloKitty
Look what came in the mail today, the next #lmpbc book from @Ajessgirl !! Yay!! @Kenziejo did you receive the #lmpbc book I mailed last week?
Mr. and Mrs. Jha get a windfall of a large amount of unexpected money and all Mr. Jha wants is to become #badandboujee. What follows is funny and touching as the family digs their way into India‘s upper class. #aprella
A story of an Indian family who comes into a lot of money and is trying to fit in. But it‘s so much more than that. Many find it humorous but I didn‘t.
#freakyfriday
Enjoying some reading by the pool before my afternoon conference session. Wishing it was sunny though...
Cute but nothing great. Cool to read about Indian culture but really only the older generations are interesting to me. The younger generation were brats.
Such fun read! Likeable characters who mostly kept me smiling (except for the younger generation ;)) and a happy ending is always an icing on the cake!
This was so good - funny but deeply introspective and a complete delight. And, it was the final book for my #BOTMbinge this month! Yay! Finally down to a manageable number of unread #BOTM picks.
~Mr Jha was open to the idea of a white daughter-in-law, as long as she was beautiful. Like one of those Baywatch women.~
😅😅 Mr Jha is such an adorable wannabe... Raring to throw his dollars to keep up with the Chopras and Mukherjees.
Waiting in a queue is a breeze with likeable characters! #nowreading #currentread
