I loved this story. It took me too long to really fall in love with the main character, which was surprising, but it is what it is. Honestly, though, I don't think there is anything that I don't love from this author.

I have been eagerly awaiting Death at the Manor and it was indeed a good story. I am always a huge fan of locked room mysteries and this story certainly delivered on that score. What I missed dearly was the inclusion of Captain Jack Hartley. I desperately hope that he is not being replaced because the partnership between Lily and him is always so enjoyable.
This story was humorous but, really, it was Stephanie Plum on an adventure. The story was not a turn off, so I will read the next adventure 😁.
Home Before Dark was a trip of a read! It did not read as a true horror book to me but it absolutely had the spine-tingling suspense that I was looking forward to. I had my ups and downs with Maggie and the story was a struggle at times because of the past-present transitions but, overall, Home Before Dark was an entertaining story.
This started out promising and overall it was memorable. There was plenty of action and suspense as well as interest generated by the setting. A reader can feel for the characters and their circumstances as they struggle for their very existence. What surprised me was that I became bored with the struggle because, even though the circumstances were different each time, the action, fighting, struggles, sexual tension was just more of the same.
Okay, there are many good elements included with this story that make it an excellent horror story based in space. What took away from my love for it was, 1) I didn't love the female heroine. I could not connect with her, she seemed like a whiny wimp at times. 2) There was predictability in certain aspects that had me feeling impatient to move on with things, not a good feeling. So, yeah, mixed feelings with Dead Silence.
Pretend You're Safe was indeed a thrilling story. It had a great backstory, plenty of suspense, and the mystery was chilling and twisted. I wish I could give this story higher stars but, oh my gosh, the romance....just not a good one. Well, it could have been if it wasn't for Rylan. His reason for passionate pursuit of Jaci was weak at best. I found him to be the worst kind of alpha male. Overall, this story was fantastic with one huge exception.
To Disguise the Truth was very a wonderful story. I finally found out the backstory on Eunice and it was about time. I loved how her friends from the agency looked out for her when they realized she was uncomfortable around Arthur. Arthur was not a character I immediately liked. He had to seriously grow on me but in the end he did. Overall, this story was exciting, mysterious, had an element of danger, and, at the core of it, was very romantic.
Captured Heart was a nice historical romance that had a little paranormal extra.
This was an entertaining story with subterfuge, betrayal, romance, and vampires 😉. There's much to enjoy in this PNR. Vlad is one of the Lost Royals that was introduced previously and it was real fun to see him lose his cool when he has been the most levelheaded sibling thus far. The ups and downs between him and Silviana were filled with tension, angst, and lots of chemistry. Overall, a wonderful addition to a fabulous fantasy series.
I love this series! I am dying to see where things are going for Aileen. Each story has me practically biting my nails out of concern for her. I just want her to catch a break but, at the same time, I love the situations she gets herself out of. Very enjoyable! Overall, Dawn's Envoy was such an entertaining story.
What a great fantasy story Legends and Lattes was! Plus if you love everything coffee, like me, then you will appreciate this story on a whole other level. The characters were incredibly likable and even a little bit quirky. The story zipped from plot point to plot point and it was never dull. There was also a nice mystery element! Overall, it was just plain fun to read.
What I liked about The Elf Tangent was that Princess Aldari was very smart, especially in mathematics. It is wonderful to see that in female heroines! The setting was nicely developed and I could sense all the tensions between the races involved in the conflicts. The side characters were all memorable and some were even very funny. Despite all these pluses, I found the overall story to be a little flat. The hook wasn't there for me.
Sir Andrew and the Authoress was a delightful friends to more romance. It was a lovely book and I fell in love with these characters. There was the tiniest bit of political intrigue in the story but overall it was a story of two people learning to see what was right in front of them.
This was delightful! What I really appreciated about this story was how well Lily handles both adversity and hunting down clues. Additionally, she has wonderful “partners in crime,“ so to speak, that she can rely on. I always adore team work when hunting down a villain and Lily has the best team. Also, after reading this story, I can say that I did not like Lily's father at all. I sincerely hope he does not surface again in this series, ha ha ha.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mums and Mayhem! It was a delightful cozy mystery filled with a bit of paranormal fun. The only negative for me was Isla, Fiona's sister, she was really annoying and bratty in my opinion. Overall though, this story entertained.
The books in the Agents of the Crown series never disappoint in regards to action and plot, including this one. Such fabulous stories! What I could live without is the romance. The entire romantic element swirling around Jev & Zenia is too dramatic for my tastes because I feel like things between them are dragging on and on and on with no end in sight. For that reason my feelings on this story and series are mixed and I wish that was not the case.
The Escape was a thrilling story that grabbed your attention from page one. Nothing came easy for the main characters, they had to fight for every win and what a rollercoaster it was. Plenty of action and suspense in this story and the romance was there, too.
In Death and Daisies, the cozy mystery element was very enjoyable, yay. Also, there are great secondary characters and I can‘t get enough of them. So far, this series is quirky, fun, and memorable. On to the next book 😁.
The Accidental Alchemist was a nice fantasy with an interesting mystery woven in. Loved the characters and that the main character was vegan. Made the meal preparations intriguing (and delicious sounding). Overall, this was a fun read and I am excited to continue in the series.
Grounds for Muder was a cute cozy mystery with a likable main character. Lana led us on a merry chase while doing her best to suss out the person responsible for the suspicious murder that had occurred. Overall, this was a fun and quirky cozy for fans of foodie fiction.
Shadow Hunt was an action packed fantasy with plenty of twists and turns in the plot. Scarlett was awesome, as always, and she was pushed to the brink many times but still managed to hold her own. A fun read!
I grabbed After Dark to read because I was looking for a good story with ghosts and the like. This book sounded perfect but unfortunately the “ghosts“ in it were not really exciting at all. What was interesting was this alternate world and the powers the inhabitants possessed. The romance was more of a slow burn and I did like the main characters. Overall, After Dark was not what I was initially looking for but it was intriguing in the end.
There are many wonderful and enjoyable elements to this story. I should be swooning with love and admiration. Personally, I feel I'm not because of Amelia. She has not grown as a character and I find her to be off-putting. Also, the romantic element is not enjoyable and it seems to be heading in the opposite direction. Overall, I am not necessarily disappointed with this story but this isn't a series that I will be coming back to either.
I adored this story! I first met Daphne in book 1, and she was likable, but I absolutely loved her in this book. Honestly, she was an accident just waiting to happen most of the time but that was her charm. Herman was very serious when first introduced but over the course of the story he developed into quite the swoony hero. Overall, this story was funny, mysterious, and very romantic. I would highly recommend this clean romance to everyone.
I liked the cozy mystery in this book and the characters that were involved as well. There were some that I could relate to and others that I despised, which was unexpected but a nice surprise. What I am not thrilled with is the apparent introduction of a possible romance element. Does Maggie like this guy? What about that guy? Or maybe it is that other guy?? Sooooo not for me. Hopefully Maggie figures out her fickle feelings in the next story.
The Barbarian King's Assassin was very enjoyable to read! I will say that it was swoony but not as steamy as I had come to expect from this author. Which was not a bad thing. Ilyana's backstory was quite interesting and Konstantin was both a surprise and delight. Overall, this story was gripping, intriguing and entertaining.
I was not a huge fan of this story. I wanted to love it but most of the story was focused on the actual turning of the main character and less on anything of substance, in my opinion. Since I was not enthralled with the main character or the woes of her turning, the story was not that interesting to me.
The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart was charming. I was not expecting it to have the sinister element as well as a sweet romantic element. That was a very nice surprise. I also loved Amelie and her cousins. They are fabulous characters and I want to know more about their backstories if possible. Anyhow, as far as romance goes, it is clean and fun. Not something that melts you but it was satisfying between Amelie and Michael. Overall, a wonderful read!
The Sheriff's Secret was a nice story with plenty of suspense and romance. I wish it had not be as predictable as it was but it was an entertaining.
I am so not a fan of mean girl shenanigans and there was a lot of that going around in Southern Sass and a Battered Bride. I can also say that Alex is by far my least favorite character in this series. Soooo, I did not love certain aspects of this story. However, that means that there were parts that I did love and those parts make this story worth reading. I just hope that our days with Alex being a part of the storyline are well and truly over.
This had a wild chase filled with mystery and deception! The plot just drew me in and the setting was so detailed that I felt like I had firsthand experience with the location. I definitely want to mention that there were many twists and turns that embroiled one character after another in a tale that has its share of wickedness right along with sweetness. Also, there were such well developed and colorful characters, this story was just charming.
This story is different from the other two books in the series, which was interesting, and some of the previous characters from those books are even involved in this story. Which was very exciting! Overall, The Scavenger Door was a fast-paced science fiction adventure filled with action, a little bit of heart, and a whole lot of thrill as Fergus and his companions try to save the world.
This was a fun and thrilling story to read. It was also extremely well researched. This novel was rich with details! I especially appreciated the care spent detailing the Aleutian Islands as well as the indigenous residents. I also enjoyed the suspense and mystery element that was in play. For the romance element, I will say that I had mixed feelings on Fiona and Dean. I can‘t decide if I want more for them or not but it was an exciting story.
A Reckless Match drew me in right from the start because of the feuding characters, Madeline and Gryff. I liked that although there was some animosity between them that there was no serious hatred. Don‘t misunderstand, they held some serious grudges but it was mostly related to childhood hijinks and not nonsensical family bias. They were pretty darn cute with their jabs and verbal sparring and this story was quite entertaining to read.
This was a wonderful story about two unlikely strangers being in the right place at the right time. The townspeople in this story were colorful and memorable. I loved all of them and their interactions with Gray and Mercy. Something I also really appreciated was that both Gray and Mercy were mature characters and I mean in both age and attitude. Overall, this was an entertaining western romance that had heart, humor, and plenty of action.
I cannot tell you how happy I am that The Bounty was not the disaster that its prequel, The Big Kahuna, was. I won‘t say that it was absolutely amazing or gave me the same kind of laughs that I enjoyed in the early books but it was entertaining. I will say that its “are they, aren‘t they” romance angle is getting a little boring. Overall, it was a fun mystery that had a little bit of humor, a dash of thrill, and a whole lot of action.
The magician element blended into Mastermind was a treat! The whole mystery around the void was quite fascinating. I was really surprised with where the clues went. I was not expecting all the twists and turns that were thrown at me. Also, there was a ton of history between a few of the characters in this story but I never felt lost. I was able to follow all the connections without fail. This was a thriller of mind-bending proportions.
Loved the time spent including the cultures for both the residents of Hawaii and others. There was also a certain amount of care spent to share the effects of the war on Japanese-American descendants living on the islands. I liked that all aspects of the war from the patriotism to the horrors were included in this story. Overall, for me, the best part of Radar Girls was the female friendships developed through the stress of war and uncertainty.
This story is an enjoyable one that focuses on three main characters and the unlikely bond they form. I truly liked them as characters. I had hoped for an emotional experience with them but, though their stories all had depth, on the whole it lacked the emotional intensity I was hoping for. What this story does provide is a delightful reading experience with quirky characters, realistic small-town living, and a wonderful environmental message.
The thriller and suspense elements in Hostile Intent were truly a wonderful example of both thrilling action and suspenseful villainy. The antagonist was creepy and a true psycho. I absolutely felt the pressure Ava and Caden were under to untangled all the clues to find the truth of who was behind the killings taking place. Overall, this story was such a wild ride that had plenty of heart stopping moments to enjoy.
This was a well plotted mystery with characters that were nicely developed and believable. Their hunt for the clues that would lead them to the murderous culprit was almost a fun romp and had its entertaining bits. Despite my enjoyment of the characters, it was a rather slow read for me. There were some decent red herrings to move my suspicions in other directions but I wish that this story had been a little more thrilling.
This story has been compared to The Night Circus and see the similarities but the comparisons missed the mark. I felt little during this book for the characters except for moments of true sacrifice, those moments always get to me. I did not feel the passion or excitement that was exhibited. I was not drawn in with my every breath, nor my heart ripped in two with the reveals, and I should have been. The magic was there, it just did not reach me.
If you love dogs, then this story is going to appeal to you. If you like characters who are a little messy and have to face situations that give them reasons to evaluate their behaviors, then this story will appeal to you. Point is, this story is very appealing :D. Although, I could see how some readers might be turned off by Kelsey‘s behaviors/attitude but I think that is what made this story enjoyable. She had plenty of growth potential.
There were multiple murders in this story and more than one case to solve as well. Vira and her strange sensing ability was quite helpful in both cases and I still get a chuckle at the idea of her senses being so “next level.” While I did like this book, ultimately, the story was more focused on politics and corruption and those are just not the type of mystery elements that I am drawn to. Not a story I was in love with but it was well written.
I have turned into such a fan of Veronica Speedwell! I have found her to be a character who continues to develop with each new experience that she encounters and I adore that. This latest story explored the developing relationship between her and Stoker for which I was thrilled. I also found the scheme that Veronica and Stoker became involved with to be quite fun and interesting. There was plenty to keep my attention from start to finish.
Cecilia was an irresistible character, I loved her. The way she delivered her verbal punches was just too funny & I liked her more for it. She‘s a respectable young lady pirate & she fully owns that. Although, it‘s clear that she is desperate to prove herself to her Aunt & the Society that she longs to be a full member of. This story is about Cecilia facing her past, her present, & grabbing with both hands the future that she wants for herself.
I wish I could say that I loved this book! Sadly, though, I can‘t. The pacing was real chill and it lacked the tension that would keep my interest firmly on the story. There were some creepy-ish moments but the potential for a true thrill fizzled out because there was no hook. With each reveal, I felt it lacked the edge that was necessary to engage me. There‘s only so much let down a reader can take before the disappointment sets in.
There absolutely was a magical quality to this story that lends itself more to science fiction than fantasy but it was magical regardless. What a delightful feeling to vacillate between wondering if Ursa was truly from the stars, as she proclaimed herself to be, or if she was a child who had lost her way. I really think that together Joanna and Gabriel were a magic all their own and Ursa was just the cherry on top. I highly recommend this book!
Deke & Charlotte are both strong willed individuals & they clash throughout this story but you can‘t help but want them together because they just seem so right for each other. This story both radiates tension & romance in equal measure. There‘s an acquaintances-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-friends-to, well, you can guess, trope taking place in this story & that‘ll be a delight for many readers of romance. A little bit of everything plus danger, spicy!
