Half through and can‘t put it down. So good, worth the wait! Loving the character development in this installment.
Yay finally got this! So excited to read :)
I really enjoyed this book. A diverse cast, a strong intelligent woman as the main character - what‘s not to like! The story follows Mia, a Wall Street trader, after she gets wrongfully fired from her job. There‘s a romance but it isn‘t the main plot, which was refreshing. Instead, we see Mia learning from her experience and figuring out what she wants. Also, the author has definitely done her research on the finance world - all very realistic.
Rediscovering Lisa Jewell thanks to Litsy :) saw this on my feed and had to get it. I‘ve only read one of her books so far, “Vince and Joy”. Looking forward to this one. Such a pretty cover!
This has been on my TBR for ages! Thank you to the publisher for sending me an ARC :) loving the cover!
Yay finally got this! Heard so much buzz about this book. Anyone else reading it?
A fun and fast read. Set in the 2040s (out of all the future Earth scenarios I've read, this seemed the most likely - no more fossil fuels for energy, homelessness etc), the story follows a teenager on a quest to win an inheritance. Some of the messages are a little heavy handed (the real world is better than the internet! Beauty is skin deep! etc), but the world building is pretty good. Now I want to go find my old nintendo and playstation! :)
3.5 stars rounded up. Some delightfully weird / creepy retellings of well known fairy tales, such as the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc. I liked the gender neutral slant the author brought to the stories, as well as the dark sense of humour. The Little Mermaid and Six swans retellings were definite stand outs, there were a couple of stories I just didn‘t get though (maybe because I hadn‘t read the original). All in all, worth a read.
April haul from the e-library plus one ARC (House swap)! Looking forward to start these, plus I love the covers for the Merry Spinster and The Punishment she deserves.
Just finished this and feeling book “hungover”. This was much more than the story of a relationship between a young man and an older married woman: it‘s about love, duty and memories. Paul (the young man) takes us through his life, from the beginnings of his affair to the eventual tragic end. Along the way he muses on what it means to love someone and how your past never really leaves you. A poignant and moving tale, this book will stay with me.
Yay new book! Can‘t wait to get out of work so I can continue reading this - living up to all the buzz surrounding it so far :) any other Littens reading this too? :)
Yay finally got this after being on hold :) first chapter already off to a good start! :)
Excited to start reading this!
