Every year my town picks one crosswalk to paint for Pride. This year they painted it today! I think half the fun is unexpectedly happening on the rainbow in the road somewhere new each year and being reminded I live somewhere super sweet. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ #HappyPride !

My bike ride also took me to an extremely orange new-to-me library that still has a Pride table! They also have a massive glass wall that looks amazing until you browse the shelves opposite it and realize 95% of the books‘ spines are super faded from all that bright sunlight. Big design flaw there.

Happy PRIDE month friends!! I need recommendations, after realizing I‘ve not read any non fiction by a Trans male or trans female. I would especially love if it is available in audio format. My daughter and I had a ❤️ to ❤️ that made me painfully aware that there is so much I do not know yet. I am proud of this younger generation who remain aware and engaged even as the so called leader of this country works to dehumanize his dissenters.

I went into this book blind; I had no idea it was a book honoring those who were killed in Orlando during the Pulse shooting. It's very emotional at times. I love that the comic industry came together to make this. Definitely a worthwhile endeavour. Going on sentiment alone, this would be a 5 star book.
As far as the stories, they varied greatly. Some were outstanding, and others were so-so, but an important read nonetheless. 3 ⭐️

The Pulse Massacre was the one that broke me. Even now, almost two years later, I had to read this anthology of one- and two-page comics in small chunks. Some of them are far more successful than others, but they have one thing in common: each represents the creators trying to make sense out of Pulse. There are direct responses, recollections prompted by the massacre, reflections on love in all its forms, and more. When it works, it's devastating.

My library's FanFest event had an LGBT table in. I got a York Pride flag! 🏳️‍🌈🍁 The closest Pride events for June take place in Newmarket. Georgina here, at the library, does have a small carnival celebration, however building and vanishing in the same day. I've sure got a goal to see it this year!

On June 12, 2016 a terrorist opened fire at a gay nightclub, killing 49 people. In response, a group of comic artists and writers volunteered their talents to put together this anthology. Like most anthologies not every story will resonate with every reader, but I can pretty much guarantee no one can read this collection and remain untouched. The print book is lovely, but the digital version contains some additional pages that are worth viewing.

I read this comic anthology when it first came out, and reading it again is bringing the same feelings of love, pride, fear, anger, and hope. I have to keep taking breaks so I can absorb everything I'm reading.

Different stories, different art.

Different writers, artists, colorists, editors, letterers.

And still, and always, love is love. ❤️💛💚💙💜🖤

A pick because much of this was so beautiful it was hard to take, but all in all this is a super uneven anthology. I didn't understand some of the comics and thought there were quite a few that trivialized the tragedy. But that's my opinion and everyone grieves differently so pieces that felt off to me may be healing to others. I'm just happy that this exists. #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon (way behind on the marathon because life is demanding!)

I‘m not a comic reader usually but today when I was sitting on the bed doing my shoelaces up I found this on the floor. My partner is a great reader of comics and graphic novels. Decided I‘d give this a go. Sitting in the sunshine about to start. @MrsMalaprop

Although I'm giving this a "So-So," I have to say how glad I am this collection is out there. It represents a community coming together, pouring out their hearts through art to provide support & comfort in the face of hate & tragedy. The various pieces were hit-and-miss for me--some I didn't care for, some I loved, and some made me cry--but together they offer a beautiful diversity in tone and style, a fitting tribute to the victims & survivors.

Finally got around to reading this. Didn't think it would choke me up as bad as it did - definitely recommend this if you just want your heart completely torn out.

And you ask me... "Are you?" "On an island with only women..." "Surely you must be...?" And you only ask so you may judge.

Pretty much me, in a nutshell. 😅 I went to Spencer's on Monday, and found a Harley Quinn diamonds soft scarf, on clearance for 50% off. ♦️ I got it! - Then I went to Hot Topic and boldly bought a red plaid kilt. - I do happen to have a big white petticoat. 😹 I'm feeling totally super satisfied with myself.

Beautifully and deeply hearty. I enjoyed the vast variety of comic contributors, telling the tales of those lost, and of their families, plus some neat superhero tales in support for Orlando Pulse. There's a great LGBTQ+ relatable feel for every queer and ally reader. My best comic collectable! 💖🏳️‍🌈

This has been on my list for a while... I keep meaning to check it out on Hoopla, then get distracted by other things. Then last night, a friend who'd just read it bought copies of it for our whole group of friends. It just moved up the list!

I found 'Love is Love' at a comic shop, and certainly didn't pass the opportunity 🙂🏳️‍🌈 I picked it up, plus some mini Superman comic selections. - My dad was with me at the time, grumpy about Pride events, and anyway didn't notice it. - However closed as our folks may still be, this is an ultimate best supportive comic to help open hearts and minds to understanding diversity. 💖 #queerbooks #transbooks

Some of the comics in here were so wonderful. A few made me cry, because of their beauty and their sadness. A lot of them highlighted the awful hatred in our society, while showing the amazing outpouring of love that often goes hand in hand with tragic events. But, as with many anthologies, they weren't consistently great, some were so-so, some didn't touch me the ways others did, and some just didn't resonate. Though, I'm still glad I read it.

Full of really incredible work, it brought tears to my eyes ❤️💛💚💙💜
