The Woman in White
August: Osage County
The Two Faces of January
Well this is a first! Actually read all the books I had in my goals!
August was a good month!
August was a struggle month for me, on all fronts. It also was just kind of a month full of average reads, which for me doesn't mean they're bad but rather I could just predict where the stories were going. These were all books on my TBR pile but only Trail of Lightning and How to Clone a Mammoth stand out. Here's hoping September goes better for me across the board.

A very bad month as we finally moved into our house 🎉 most of my time has been spent unpacking boxes 😫 although did manage to squeeze in some short stories on @SerialReader 👍
August was not a good month for reading quantity. I only completed two books. Life, work, family, and health were all a bit crazy, and I've been so so exhausted every day.
But, the ones I did read were pretty good. I'm definitely continuing on with both series.

My most successful month (ever), but back to work on Monday so productivity will fall off a cliff.
This total was helped by several Readathons and Buddy / Group Reads (think I had six on the go at the same time at one point). Thanks to all those who helped me along. 👍😍
Sad to see my August Trip is over! What am I going to do now! 😢

First week of august I was in a deep book slump, but Ms.Marvel (and graphic novels/manga in general) came to the rescue 😍
I've read just 4 (of the six) books for #makemereadit.. Moby Dick and The Perfume are still on my TBR!
🌟My top picks:
They both die at the end
Love and other consolation prizes
Manga classics : Jane Eyre
The prince and the dressmaker
I can‘t really decide what to read in August. I‘ll definitely finish What She Ate, but after that I don‘t know . . . #AugustTBR #readingresolutions
I cannot believe that it is already August but I have had so much fun doing these photo challenges that I am up for another month!! You should consider joining in the fun!!! #readingresolutions @Jess7
Six must read books for August. Three ARCs and two #makemereadit. #easypeasy
This is the final order for the #makemereadit Challenge in August - thanks for the votes. 👏
Also committed to these group/Buddy Reads.
The Guilty David Baldacci
The Emperor‘s Revenge by Clive Cussler & Boyd Morrison
The Lincoln Myth by Steve Berry
Circling the Sun by Paula McLain
The Waste Lands by Stephen King
Children of God by Mary Doria Russell
Going to be a busy month! #KaTetBuddyRead #BOTMBuddyRead @TheReadingMermaid
So far The Book Thief is winning. Please vote until July 31! #makemereadit.
I‘m late to the party but wanted your help to #MakeMeReadIt! @TheReadingMermaid came up with this awesome idea for August - from the stack above, pick the book you think I should read. I‘ll read them in the order of your votes. These have been waiting for me for a looonnnggg time, so your help in choosing my next read is appreciated!😉
Currently reading.
I can hardly believe that we're at the end of summer! August was a decent reading month for me with eight books read. On to September! #AugustWrapUp
This was a Morning Glory flower that was the largest bloom of the year. I took the pic right after a rain shower, and we had a lot of those last month. Hopefully, September will be drier. 🤞🏽
My August stats! I didn't list a favorite this month because I loved almost all the books I read. This month was great to jump back into regularly reading. I tried to hit 11 books but fell asleep... hoping for 12 in September! And to get some of my #LitsyAtoZ taken care of...
Pleasantly surprised by the number of books I managed to read. Here are some stats:
TOTAL BOOKS: 18
FICTION: 14
NONFICTION: 4
ARCS: 3
AUTHORS OF COLOR: 12
TOTAL PAGE COUNT: 4357
BEST BOOK READ: Hunger by Roxane Gay
My August book count and my 3 favorites this month📖📚❤️ Thank you Littens for all the encouragement ❤️🙌 and my best *let's scare ourselves and send hilarious texts while reading* reading buddy @Tiffy_Reads ❤️❤️🤗#augustbookcount
Not my best reading month, but it'll do. I'm having a ball with #lotrchapteraday, and Zooburbia was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️... I'm stingy with those!
I'm more than halfway through a couple of my current reads, so September should start off well.

My August reads. The most interesting one was Rosemary-the Hidden Kennedy. I did not know she existed.
Here's a snapshot of my August reads although I DNF The Summer That Melted Everything, Monsters, or The Almost Sisters. I'm also still reading Rabbit Cake, but I'm liking it and will finish, even if it is in September! My favorite reads of the month were Chemistry, The Sisters Chase and Ginny Moon. #bestofaugust #augustwrapup #booksacrossoceans #anditisaugust
Today may not have gone exactly as I had planned, but I am sure looking forward to having a clean slate this month. I'll be honest - I've been struggling a lot lately. I think a mix of little things on top of being away from hubby and him being very busy. Restarting bullet journaling in an effort to manage my time better. Trying to get a move on studying for my last set of boards. Trying to feel better. Here's to a new month 🥂
Fast paced, dark, crunching feeling, family drama, small sharp twists, microcosmic. #play #darkenough
#dysfunctionalfamily It doesn't get much more dysfunctional than the Weston family in August: Osage County, one of my very favorite plays. I am currently writing a grad school paper comparing the family in this to the family in Arthur Miller's All My Sons. Love both plays, but I really want to be finished so Thanksgiving relaxation can start! :)

I was surprised at just how many books I got through this month. Eleven of these were written by women. I need to add more diversity to the mix, though. Only two were by people of color.
Not a pleasant family, so not a pleasant read. But that doesn't mean it wasn't good. I could see people I know in the characters, but as nicer versions. May have to see the movie. This was my play for the #readharder2016 Challenge.
