Mesmerized by this book/catalog of the exhibit we saw today: Renoir Drawings
Accompanied by hot cinnamon milk.

Seeing Renoir‘s progression from drawings to a painting allowed for a richer understanding of his works,be they in charcoal, pencil, chalk, water color, oils.
1) study for The Great Bathers, black chalk on graphite paper, 1886. From Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, CT.
2) study for The Great Bathers, red & black chalk with white chalk highlights on paper mounted to canvas, 1886.from Musee d‘Orsay, Paris
3) The Great Bathers, oil on canvas,⬇️

Lunch- mine was gnocchi marsala; the men had steak sandwiches au jus with horseradish mayo. A little prosecco, a little red wine, some tea. Delicious!

The Morgan Museum & Library all dressed up for Christmas!
What a stunning museum- the art,the artifacts, its effect on culture, its history.

Breakfast- Starbucks coffee and yogurt parfait- historical mystery for the ride into New Haven. #MET #NYC #Egyptianexhibit #Amtrak

At Windsor Locks train station waiting for Amtrak to New Haven where we pick up the Metro to NYC. Going to the Morgan Library & Museum to view an exhibit of Renoir drawings. I have never bern to the Library so I am so excited!

Watching this on BritBox tonight- just had to capture Holmes‘ “irregulars.” 😄🔍🗝️ Rather a creepy story.👹

We got about 8 inches- our roof is no indicator as it is not insulated- My son & I went outside- he to shovel the walks; me to revel in the snow. It is soft, fluffy, powdery- easy to move around in my snow boots.
Of course, coffee a must to warm me up once we went inside. ❄️❄️☕️

This mornings reads: Dark Christmas & The Three French Henchmen. #3 #day27 #TheTwelveDaysofChristmas

This challenge was so much fun! Thank you to @Ruthiella @RaeLovesToRead 🎄🔍🗝️

Arrived on my porch in the snow 😄. ❄️ ❄️ #bookmail #blameitonlitsy #sundaybuddyread #porchlife

This book kept me glued to my couch with its complicated & twisty plot.It is set for the most part in the Scottish highlands at a castle & its whiskey distillery, where snow & ice prevailed.Haunting, with glowing ghostly apparitions looming. Holmes & Watson at their most humane best. #SherlockHolmespastiches #Sherlocked

Chardonnay with Parmesan & Tapping cheddar from the local Arethusa farms in Litchfield Ct. Hunkering down inside for warmth; 6-8 inches of snow predicted for tonight. We‘ll see. Have not seen that much snow in years…

every one searches
for that which is
tender and true
the quest is
braving the severity
of our most
defended actions
And stripping off
our hardest habits
so that the simple note
of our natural being
may be heard

12 Stories:
#day25 #story1 : Christmas Tide; Spirit of Christmas: Mrs. Winterson‘s Mince Pies.

Our book stacks, including @TheBookHippie JÓLABÓKAFLÓÐ gift. If you look closely under the tree you can see Poe‘s box of ashes, a Poe painted stone from Chewy, & a letter from Cornell Vet School acknowledging a donation from our Vet in Poe‘s name. Hanging mid tree is a lovely Christmas ornament from @dabbe : an angel holding a cat, our Poe. #Jolabokaflod #preciouspoe #gratitude
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays-

Christmas Eve happy hour. A little Chardonnay, a little Boursin cheese & triscuits. 🍷 🫕 My son is making our meal of lasagna, salad, & bread, a family Christmas Eve tradition passed down from my side of the family. #wednesdayhappyreadinghour #HappyWednesdayDrinks #ChrismasEveLibation

The elves have been busy at our house! 🧝🎄

Before bedtime restorative decaf Irish black tea with honey & lemon, accompanied by a gingerbread cupcake. ☕️🧁

What a delightful read! Great protagonist, lots of action… the short story gift from the Mysterious Bookshop that arrived with my order. 🎄

I adored these 12 linked stories & meeting art collector & socialite Mr. Satterthwaite as he drives in his Rolls Royce to visit his tons & tons of friends & acquaintances. With each visit he inevitably encounters mysterious occurrences. Mr. Satterthwaite‘s guide, the enigmatic Mr. Quinn appears & disappears among the shadows.

There are really no words for the gratitude I feel for this Litsy community. It is sustained me and given me solace this month when I‘ve been shut indoors ill with a stubborn, lingering bronchitis.Your support means the world, and I am filled with a depth of appreciation. It feels as if I have been wrapped in a blanket of comfort and warmth since 12/11. 💚🥰🤗❤️

2nd batch of holiday cards going out-I have 7 more to go, which will arrive most decidedly after Christmas.😔🤯

Woke to find that a mere inch or so of snow has closed the schools. Granted, it was an 11:30 am release but all you mid westerners & westerners deserve
a HUGE laugh 😂 at our expense. Apparently an inch of snow is quite scary!
So I am leisurely enjoying my coffee and a book. 😄

My order from the Mysterious Bookshop in NYC surprised me with the inclusion of a 2025 short story, A Christmas Delivery. 😮⭐️🎄🎅🏻

Emmy‘s job this morning is to help me choose: Golden Age Bibliomysteries or a reread of Still life. In a very indecisive, restless mood. Cabin fever? Been home since last Wednesday, sick. Grrr…!

Hopeful….will be home for the holidays so that will be in my favor.

“ Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.”
I just finished this lyrical & brutal novel, where the light succeeds & darkness recedes.
In this novel, the landscape is its own atmospheric character, which in turn shapes the characters and their lives.
#libraryfind #book1

I just requested 9 books through my library for January. Some are buddy reads; others are just of interest. I could not get Mob Queen for #sundaybuddyread so I will buy it. I am thrilled with so many library finds!

Thank you @TheBookHippie for always radiating the light.
The afterglow of today‘s sunrise.

Sunday morning coffee, a book , & apple cider cake.

This is in my TBR from ages ago. I resurrected it because my family is visiting The Morgan Library & Museum in NYC the Sunday after Christmas to view a Renoir exhibit.
