Before bedtime restorative decaf Irish black tea with honey & lemon, accompanied by a gingerbread cupcake. ☕️🧁

What a delightful read! Great protagonist, lots of action… the short story gift from the Mysterious Bookshop that arrived with my order. 🎄

I adored these 12 linked stories & meeting art collector & socialite Mr. Satterthwaite as he drives in his Rolls Royce to visit his tons & tons of friends & acquaintances. With each visit he inevitably encounters mysterious occurrences. Mr. Satterthwaite‘s guide, the enigmatic Mr. Quinn appears & disappears among the shadows.

There are really no words for the gratitude I feel for this Litsy community. It is sustained me and given me solace this month when I‘ve been shut indoors ill with a stubborn, lingering bronchitis.Your support means the world, and I am filled with a depth of appreciation. It feels as if I have been wrapped in a blanket of comfort and warmth since 12/11. 💚🥰🤗❤️

2nd batch of holiday cards going out-I have 7 more to go, which will arrive most decidedly after Christmas.😔🤯

Woke to find that a mere inch or so of snow has closed the schools. Granted, it was an 11:30 am release but all you mid westerners & westerners deserve
a HUGE laugh 😂 at our expense. Apparently an inch of snow is quite scary!
So I am leisurely enjoying my coffee and a book. 😄

Both the fiction & non-fiction collages were fun & took much reflection on my part!

What sweeter music can we bring

Emmy‘s job this morning is to help me choose: Golden Age Bibliomysteries or a reread of Still life. In a very indecisive, restless mood. Cabin fever? Been home since last Wednesday, sick. Grrr…!

#weeklyforecast
Hopeful….will be home for the holidays so that will be in my favor.

“ Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.”
I just finished this lyrical & brutal novel, where the light succeeds & darkness recedes.
In this novel, the landscape is its own atmospheric character, which in turn shapes the characters and their lives.
#libraryfind #book1

I just requested 9 books through my library for January. Some are buddy reads; others are just of interest. I could not get Mob Queen for #sundaybuddyread so I will buy it. I am thrilled with so many library finds!

Thank you @TheBookHippie for always radiating the light.
The afterglow of today‘s sunrise.

Sunday morning coffee, a book , & apple cider cake.

This is in my TBR from ages ago. I resurrected it because my family is visiting The Morgan Library & Museum in NYC the Sunday after Christmas to view a Renoir exhibit.

This is me some days. 😂

This non-fiction work is written in an accessible style for someone like me with no science background. It‘s full to the brim with fascinating factoids. The last section of the book is geared to solutions for the global community, federal, state, & local governments, & individuals.

#SisterFidelmaMysteries
Back in 664 with Fidelma as she is unraveling 15 mysteries.

Flashback to #WDCW when I left work early, skipped a meeting, then skipped our district holiday party to get the health care I needed. Who would want me around coughing up a lung as an eloquent student said to me?! Bright light: listening to John Lithgow read aloud Trumpty Dumpty!

Julia Bird retires from her job as a social worker in London to a quaint & picturesque village, Berrywick, in the Cotswolds. Here she plans to start anew, among her chickens, in lovely old house, with a zany dog. She unexpectedly gets involved in a 20 year old murder when a body is discovered buried under an old shed in her yard. #cozy #1 in a series.

I am home this morning due to my worsening bronchitis. Not reading; watching Agatha on BritBox. Always coffee. ☕️

9th grade Literature Circle reads. Night is a 10th grade class read.

Morning meditation and coffee. 5 a.m.& still dark out, 16 degrees out there, but warm & cozy inside. #coffeeandbooks #advent #meditationhour

My #JolabokaflodSwap was mailed out today to @guinsgirlreads Thank you you for hosting @MaleficentBookDragon ! This has become a wonderful Litsy tradition. 🎄📚🧑🏻🎄

We are running literature circles in 9th grade & I am reading this book with a small group of “reluctant” readers.A nice break in a day of students wanting/needing to process all the recent violence-Brown, Australia,Rob & Michele Reiner-especially since some of the seniors remember Sandy Hook.Students with college age siblings were in contact with them & happy they were or would soon be home.Exhausted.Can‘t focus enough to read.

As I had already read up to page 128 a year ago,I picked up from there this month. My favorite stories, each one unique, are: The suspenseful My Object All Sublime (Anne Perry); the twisted The 74th Tale (Jonathan Santlofer; the reflective The Lesson of the Season (Thomas H.Cook; the romantic Cold Reading( Charles Ardai).

Beautiful illustration for 12/14. The Lost Words, by Robert Macfarlane & Jackie Morris: “a spell book, offered to conjure nature-words that have been lost from the language of children”(“347).
