Last night, made it to page 20 of 705 pages...the beginnings of an epic 🥳🐉📚💝.

It's early, yet loving this. Like how Murtagh can communicate with his dragon.

Chunkster Tip

If reading a Chunkster before bed, try not to doze off...705 pages wrapped in hardcover becomes mighty hazardous when it smashes onto your face 😂📚💝.

@Amiable
#ChunksterChallenge!

Amiable I just laughed out loud —been there, had the nose bruise to show for it! 😄 5d
AnnCrystal @Amiable Oh no! Made me laugh out loud that I'm surprised I didn't wake the household 😂...lucky a bruise hasn't formed 🤞😉👍📚💝. 5d
bthegood 😂Glad you survived the “crash“ - 4d

Next book for #LiteraryCrew hosted by @Librarybelle . My edition has 528 pages so it will work for the #chunksterchallenge (bitsy chunkster) and #allergictochunksters too! 🎉

Edit: And this is perfect for #LitsyAtoZ #LetterV !

@Amiable @julieclair @Texreader

Librarybelle Good luck! 1w
Amiable Yay, chunksters! 1w
julieclair I‘m using it for #AllergicToChunksters, too! 6d
Sace @Librarybelle thanks! Don‘t tell anyone but I read the first chapter today. I‘m worried about being able to finish on time 😂 6d
Sace @julieclair I love that it works for several Litsy events! (edited) 6d

2025 Litsy book Challenges I've joined 📚🥳.

Thank you @TheSpineView &
@Andrew65 and @Amiable for hosting these Challenges 📚💝📚.

👇

AnnCrystal For SeriesLove2025, I'm excited to continue the RileyThorn Mysteries along with a seemingly endless-list of other series (some on my bookshelf, some not) that would likely take me until 2035 to complete 😂...🤔📚🥳.

AnnCrystal The tagged works for either challenge, since Murtagh is book five (?) in a series. It is the only book I have in this series, yet I've read that it can be a standalone...hope.

Been really excited to begin this read, yet I just recently realized how many pages...705! I was considering stashing this with some other big books to read another time when I saw the #ChunksterChallenge! Seemed like a “read now“ sign 😂.

AnnCrystal I will begin this challenge with Murtagh, and continue with a new Chunkster once I've finished...one Chunkster at a time 😂📚💝.

Amiable One chunkster at a time is a fabulous strategy! 👍🏼👍🏼 4w
AnnCrystal @Amiable too excited 💕📚🥳💝. 4w
Amiable @AnnCrystal The secret with chunksters is to just keep reading. Even if it‘s only few pages at a time. It‘s the forward momentum that propels you to the finish. I find that if I don‘t pick it up every day, it‘s easier to not pick it up at all. 4w
TheSpineView So glad to have you! 4w
AnnCrystal Thank You @Amiable, that is absolutely true 👏📚📖💖. 4w
AnnCrystal Thank You @TheSpineView 🎉📚🥳💖. 4w
Andrew65 That‘s your reading for the next 10 years sorted. 😂 I look forward to seeing your progress this year and over the other 9 years. 4w

My reading goals for January.
For the most part, this year, I want to focus on reading my shelves, especially my Fairyloot and Illumicrate books and completing series that I have.

repost for @Amiable:

Have you always wanted to tackle the giant books that double as paperweights, but the page counts intimidate you? Join us for the 5th annual #ChunksterChallenge! It‘s structured with levels to help build up your stamina to take down those super-sized tomes and claim the bragging rights. Because the secret to completing the Colossal Chunkster is simple math – one page at a time!

#ChunksterChallenge2025

Amiable Oh, thank you! ☺️ 1mo
AnnCrystal @Amiable hi, are we able to select own books?? Is this low-key or are there minimum/maximum challenges?? And can anyone join?? Thank you, 🎇 Happy 🥳New💖 Year 🎆. (edited) 1mo
Read4life @AnnCrystal I did this last year and it‘s low key. Read what you want, when you want. Just tag @Amiable and use the #. Include which level your chunkster falls into. Open to everyone. 1mo
Amiable @Read4life Thank you! 🙂 @AnnCrystal Yes, pick your own chunksters! The goal of the challenge is just to get you to read those giant books you may have been avoiding because the page counts intimidate you, or because you find that you are always reaching for the short books to chase an arbitrary book total goal. 1mo
AnnCrystal thank You @Amiable and @Read4life That's great! Definitely joining on 😉👍📚💝. 1mo

Completed the #ChunksterChallenge for 2024. 🎉 My first year to hit all four chunkster categories.

@Amiable Thanks for hosting and the motivation to get to the larger books on my shelf.

TrishB Those Follett ones are big books! 1mo

Amiable An also -- how is the Shardlake series? I've seen a few of you guys reading them for a group -- are they good? 1mo
Soubhiville Congratulations! That‘s great. 1mo
dabbe @Amiable I may be biased (since I lead the group), but I ADORE THEM! You've got Tudor England, a complicated and lovable hunchback detective named Shardlake (that's what he calls himself), and his arse of a sidekick Barak. Check it out if you're interested! #shardlakeseriesbr 🤩🤗🤩 1mo
dabbe #woohooyou! 🤩🤩🤩 1mo
Amiable @dabbe I do like a good Tudor novel! I‘ll definitely give it a go. 1mo

Have you always wanted to tackle War & Peace, Les Miserables or any of the other giant books that double as paperweights, but the page counts intimidate you? Amiable @ginakbutler I changed the names of the categories this year -- because who doesn't want to take down a COLOSSAL CHUNKSTER? 😃 1mo
Amiable In 2025, I plan to complete at least this chunkster: 1mo
youneverarrived I‘ve been telling myself I‘ll read this for a few years but never have - maybe this will give me the incentive to read it 💕 1mo

Amiable @youneverarrived I really liked that one, actually! It‘s very readable. And if I recall correctly, it qualifies as a Colossal Chunkster! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 1mo
Deblovestoread Going to try to read Les Mis this year with @TheBookHippie 🤞🏼 1mo
Deblovestoread And your post reminded me I did finish a chunkster this year. Will post soon. 1mo
Mollyanna One of my favorite challenges (although I didn‘t do so well this past year, a couple bitsys)! I‘ll have to look at my chunksters and decide. 1mo
TheSpineView I was going to read War and Peace last year. However, I kept putting it off and before I knew it the year was over. Maybe 2025 will be THE year. 1mo
TheBookHippie I love chunksters …shhhhh don‘t tell it upsets the peeps 🤣 1mo
Amiable @Mollyanna I hear you. I had 10 this year that would count: 2 Chunksters, a couple of Petites and a few Bitsys. I missed the big-boy level —just didn‘t have the attention span. 1mo
JenReadsAlot I skipped this year so will be back in 2025!! 1mo
Amiable @TheSpineView Start on Jan. 1 with a chapter a day! It‘s a lot more manageable if you break it down into tiny bites. 1mo
Amiable @JenReadsAlot Yay!! Do you have a specific one in mind? 1mo
Amiable @TheBookHippie Ha ha, right? There‘s nothing as satisfying as taking down one of the giants, though! 😀 1mo
JenReadsAlot Nope 😂 I stil have a couple days! 1mo
quietlycuriouskate I have a goodly stack (more of a pillar, really) to choose from. 😊 1mo
Amiable @quietlycuriouskate Nice! We‘ll whittle down that pillar to a tall post. 😀 1mo
dabbe Yay for this! I know I have 3 for this year: TOMBLAND for #ShardlakeSeriesBR, LES MIS, which @TheBookHippie is going to get me through (after already trying 3 times in the past), and JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR. NORRELL--just because. Hope I can do it! 🤩 1mo
Amiable @dabbe Les Mis was a struggle for me, too—thank goodness I‘m stubborn! I also am thinking about starting Robert Caro‘s mammoth works about LBJ. Although he‘s 89 and still writing the last one and I‘ll be really bummed if the series doesn‘t get completed. 😬 (edited) 1mo
GinaKButler @Amiable I love this!! @Kelly326 and I are deciding on our Q2-4 picks, but we‘re starting the year with 1mo
Laughterhp I totally failed at this in 2024, bring it on 2025! 1mo
Amiable @GinaKButler I think I have that book on my e-reader -- looking forward to hearing your and @kelly326 's thoughts on it! 1mo
Amiable @Laughterhp No worries-- “War & Peace“ will always be there. Waiting. Patiently. While staring at you in an inscrutable Russian way. 😀 1mo
Cuilin Reading Les Mis and some Dickens 🩵 1mo
daena I am thinking of finally jumping in and reading a qualifying chunkster 1mo
Amiable @daena Oh, nice! That one is still in my pile. Would love to hear your thoughts on it ! 1mo
Amiable @Cuilin 😍 I really should tackle “Bleak House” at some point. 1mo
daena Bleak House is also on my list for this challenge @Cuilin @Amiable 1mo
Sace I‘m going to try to read more chunksters this year! 1mo
Amiable @Sace Hooray! 🎉 🥳 1mo
AnnCrystal 📚I'm joining on🥳👍💝. 1mo
Amiable @AnnCrystal Yay!! 🎉🥳 1mo
Read4life I‘m joining again! 💙💙💙 1mo

July 2024 Book #7

This is my second book by this author and I can say that I love the way she writes, how places are described and how characters are developed. This story has multiple timelines and it has, mystery, a murder, , family drama, a touch of paranormal or fantasy. It is so atmospheric I didn‘t feel the 585 pages in this slow pace reading because I was immersed in the story. It worked for me 4⭐️

Though it took a while to acclimatise to Mantel's style, once I got into it, I liked the careful plotting and the interweaving of themes throughout the book.
