#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

My 3rd March #Roll100 (#74 Any #BOTM ) There were parts of this that I liked better than Butcher & Blackbird & the series premise (serial killer romance) is good but there is a lot that makes me think “I‘m too old for this s%#*!” Lark‘s giggling was annoying & as I went between the audiobook & my BOTM copy (purchased before I read the first book) the narrator‘s many giggles made me want to remove someone‘s eyeballs.👁️⬇️

DebinHawaii … There were less brutal kills & slightly less grossness in this one but the motive for the baddie (not the MCs-we root for them but the big baddie) just didn‘t make a lot of sense in who he was stalking & murdering for his vengence. 🤷🏻‍♀️I did like most of the dark & snarky humor. It‘s also somewhat spicer than my tastes at the end. And yes, I bought & will still read/listen to the third book in the trilogy because I‘m no quitter. 😉 2d
TheSpineView These two are on my TBR list. Great job! 2d

The snark is SO strong in this one, in the very best ways. I died again and again laughing (literally out loud) at parts of this one. It‘s somehow better than the last book, which I didn‘t think was going to be possible. Plus, there is the bonus of a Bible quoting, Bible thumping, hypocritical psychopath killer being permanently “deleted,” and the constant sermonising silenced. It was chef‘s kiss.

julesG Just know, book 3 is different. 5d
GingerAntics @julesG I heard it was darker, because we get way more of the back story of them in Ireland and their messed up father. 5d
julesG Yes, that. And it's timeline is parallel to B&B and L&L, which confused me a tiny bit and which made it feel like it was dragging on a bit. It didn't and I enjoyed it, but it was definitely different from the first two. 5d
GingerAntics @julesG I was reading the blurb and was thinking that there was definitely some overlap. His life is definitely separate from Lachlan and Rowan, so I guess it makes sense. He wasn‘t in those as much. 5d

On the first day of #JumpStart2025 & the last of #20in4 #readathon I managed a few chapters of Silkworm & a few hours of Leather & Lark while #audiojournaling all the challenges I‘m doing this year. Which I‘m overdoing. Again🤦🏻‍♀️. Managed a decent time for 20in4. Loving both books, really enjoying the sequel to Butcher & Blackbird, already have the 3rd preordered on Audible! How‘s your New Years Day? #OutWithTheOldInWithTheNew #YearEnd

#12Booksof2024 Loved this sequel to the Ruinous Love series. This is Lachlan Kane and Lark Montague‘s story. I wouldn‘t call this a New Year‘s book but there is a deserving death involving fireworks to the crotch right at the beginning 😄🧨

Andrew65 Ouch! 😳 That is enough to make me want to read it! 3mo

Meh, this felt a little forced, pun intended. Much too spicy for me but it has an interesting storyline. Different in that we know who the predator is but the characters don‘t, I liked that POV, even if he was extremely deranged. Book #122 in 2024

I finished the first one and immediately borrowed this on Libby after. Still a dark humor serial killer romance but the tropes were different and there was a little mystery side plot for the characters (the readers know who dunnit from the outset). I like that the characters from the first book are still around but don‘t detract from the main story.

julesG What was worse for you, the ice cream or the pizza? 😂😉 3mo

3.5 ⭐

Truth be told, this is more of a "pick" than a "so-so", but I didn't find myself enjoying Lachlan's & Lark's storyline as much I did Rowan's & Sloane's. Yet I really liked these characters themselves. Their chemistry & witty banter proved to consistently put a smile on my face. (I was listening to the #audiobook, and at one point I was doubled over at my desk laughing so hard it's a wonder my co-workers didn't notice.)

Book 2 of the Ruinous Love Trilogy was a great follow-up of the same concept as the first. This story follows enemies to lovers that get themselves into quite the predicament. The things people will do for love are tested in this story.

I don‘t know if I liked this one better or if I just enjoyed this more because I enjoyed the audio 🎧 I‘m a all for the accents

monkeygirlsmama Book one was great as an #audiobook for this same reason. I'm listening to this installment now, and already I'm digging the narrators again. 6mo

I love these books. This is the second book in the Ruinous Love trilogy, and in this one, Lachlan botches a job and becomes the target of blame for some of the deaths in Lark's family. So, to help clear his name, Lark decides to marry him and help him hunt for the killer.
Note: There are a ton of trigger warnings just like in the first one 🖤

I‘m mixed on this series. I like the thriller portion of this book, the backstory of the character and the characters themselves. It‘s the steamy scenes which are just too long (pun intended). This seems to be a new trend in “steamy” romance where the sex scenes go on for entire chapters, which just becomes tedious and causes me to skim to the main story. I still do like the characters and will read book 3. 3.75⭐️

I really love this series and the characters. This one wasn‘t as gruesome as the first and I think I wound up liking this one even more than the first. Preordered the third and can‘t wait to see how this concludes.

3.75⭐
PROS⇩
-I love duet narration...it's what keeps me listening to this series. I wish they did this type of narration more often.
-I like Lark…maybe that‘s why I rated this higher than book #1 or maybe, this author‘s work is growing on me.
-I prefer my romances to be dark and this mostly delivered on that...although, sparkles were everywhere.
CONS⇩
-I‘m not always a fan of this author‘s brand of humor.
-The plot was rather thin and convoluted.

This sequel was pretty much everything I‘d hoped for! Funny and endearing and sweet — serial unaliving regardless, lol. The characters are rich and interesting, and their journey to sort-of enemies to lovers is believable, ESPECIALLY since they communicate well and are honest with each other. More or less. Deducting a star bc I saw the villain as soon as he appeared, but this really is a great read.

I did enjoy this second book in the Ruinous Love trilogy. I liked Butcher and Blackbird more however, I thought Lark and Lachlan‘s story was good on its own. This one focused more on the mystery aspect than the romance. There were a few spicy scenes that were pretty good. I can‘t wait for the third book.
